The agrarian reforms Ali initiated in the village aroused not only curiosity but also suspicion among the peasants. He had to prove that modern methods in agriculture would work. So he designated a small plot of land as an experimental field. Together with Mehmet, they started practicing the new cultivation techniques there.
In the early days, villagers came to the field to watch what Ali was doing. Some laughed, others admired his efforts. But Ali continued to work tirelessly. He changed the field's irrigation system, planted more fertile seeds and developed natural methods of pest control.
When the first harvest came, the villagers were amazed. The crops grown in Ali's field were more abundant and healthier than those grown using traditional methods. This became the talk of the village. Many of them decided to try Ali's methods in their own fields.
This small victory gave Ali confidence. But his goals were bigger. He wanted to develop local trade and generate more income by marketing his agricultural products. Together with Mehmet, they came up with the idea of establishing an agricultural cooperative in the village. Through the cooperative, the villagers would be able to sell their produce at better prices and create a bigger market.
Ali's initiative began to disturb not only the villagers but also some landowners in the region. Some powerful families, who wanted the traditional agricultural system to continue, began to try different ways to reduce Ali's influence in the village. But Ali was not willing to back down in the face of resistance. For him, this was just the beginning. He was determined to continue his struggle to bring the innovations brought by the Republic to every corner of Anatolia.
