Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Village Reconstruction

Ali's early successes in agriculture, his experience in trade and the change in the town had begun to change the perspective of the people of the village. It was no longer just about producing and selling crops, but also about making the village more livable. The villagers realized that roads needed to be improved, new buildings constructed and basic infrastructure upgraded.

Together with Mehmet, Ali organized a meeting with the villagers. "It's not enough just to grow better crops," he said, "we also need to improve where we live. One of the villagers said, "But how? We have no money, even our labor force is limited." Ali smiled and said, "Remember what we have. If we all work together, we can also get outside support."

The first priority was road construction. The old dirt road to the town was impassable when it rained. Ali gathered volunteer labor from the villagers and started work. Thanks to Mehmet's connections, they managed to get a small grant from the municipality. After days of work, the road between the village and the town was fixed and trade became easier.

Another big step was to build a school building. Lack of education was a big problem in the village. Mehmet and Ali met with some wealthy people in the town and collected donations. Villagers also provided stones, bricks and wood from their own resources. After months of effort, a school with a library was opened for the first time in the village. Villagers would no longer have to send their children to distant towns for education.

Over time, Ali and the villagers began to develop more projects. Plans were made to set up a small health center. Some doctors in the town agreed to come to the village on certain days of the week. There was also an idea to open a joint workshop so that the women of the village could contribute to production.

However, all these developments were beginning to attract the attention of some powerful people. The big landowners and merchants in the region began to see the economic empowerment of the villagers as a threat to them. Ali and Mehmet were aware that they would face even greater obstacles in the coming days. But they would not give up; the new generation built by the Republic was ready to fight.
