Chapter 4 - Section 4: First Step to Trade

Ali's early successes in agriculture opened new doors for him. The villagers had more confidence in his modern methods and began to apply them in their own fields. But Ali had a bigger goal in mind: To bring their crops to wider markets and thus strengthen the village economy.

To do this, he first decided to visit markets in nearby towns. With Mehmet's support, he and a group of villagers started traveling by tractor to the town market to sell their crops. But this process was not easy. The old merchants in the town did not want new competitors and tried to block Ali's market. The villagers had to struggle with the low prices offered by the big traders.

Ali proposed selling directly to the consumer as a solution. With Mehmet's help, he arranged for the peasants to deliver their produce directly to the townspeople. As the villagers began to sell their crops without relying on the old merchants, their profits increased. Under Ali's leadership, a new economic system was born for the villagers.

In the process, Ali learned that trade is not just about selling products. He developed skills such as price setting, bargaining and dealing with competitors. With Mehmet's help, he began teaching basic financial literacy to illiterate villagers. Now they were learning not only about agriculture, but also about economics.

But Ali's success disturbed some people. The town's powerful merchants began to look for ways to stunt Ali's growth. Plans were hatched to exclude him from the market, pressure the villagers and even organize slander campaigns. For Ali, this was becoming not only an economic but also a social struggle.

Despite all these obstacles, Ali and the peasants did not back down. Thanks to the quality of the goods they produced, their customer base was growing. Moreover, Ali began to join forces with other small producers in the market. In this way, the economic dynamics of the town began to change.

Ali became a well-known figure not only in the village, but throughout the town. This process would be one of his most important experiences before he embarked on big industrial projects. But he still had a long way to go. His goal was not limited to a town market; he wanted to contribute to the economic development of the Republic.
