Chapter 44 - Delicious Lunchbox

"Now, let's start the roll call," Li Haoyang said as he stood at the podium.

In the first row of the classroom, Luo Ye, Shen Qiao, and Wang Dachui sat together, staring closely at Li Haoyang.

"Xu Xiaojia."

"Here."

"Luo Ye."

"Here."

...

As the roll call continued, Li Haoyang's gaze briefly swept across the first row.

He saw Luo Ye and the others making funny faces at him.

Their silly expressions almost made Li Haoyang laugh, but he was in the middle of an important task. Trying to stay serious, he struggled to hold in his laughter.

"Zhang San."

"Here."

"Li Si..."

Pffft.

"Here..."

Li Si looked up, puzzled. He wondered why Li Haoyang was laughing at him so openly. His name might be common, but mocking him like that was a bit too much.

After the roll call ended, everyone went their separate ways. Some went for dinner, others returned to their dorms.

Li Haoyang met up with Luo Ye and the others.

Looking at the coach, Luo Ye and the others had a worried look on their faces.

"What's with the expressions?" Li Haoyang asked, puzzled.

He then checked his phone and added, "Let's go eat."

Shen Qiao asked, "How come you're not eating with your girlfriend today?"

"She said she had something to do, so forget about it."

At these words, Luo Ye and Shen Qiao exchanged a glance, both understanding what was going on.

Wang Dachui put his arm around Li Haoyang's shoulder and sympathetically said, "A real man can endure, you know? Come on, I'll treat you to beef noodles! Extra scallions and cilantro!"

Suddenly, Luo Ye remembered he had a bunch of lunchboxes waiting to be eaten. He quickly punched Wang Dachui on the shoulder and said, "Let's go back to the dorm; I've got something good to eat."

"Ooh, you're really spoiling us, huh, Ye kid?" Wang Dachui shrugged off Li Haoyang and put his arm around Luo Ye's shoulder.

It seemed like anyone could become his best friend in an instant.

Back in the dorm, Wang Dachui looked at the lunchboxes on the table, their color, aroma, and appearance perfect. "This is lunchbox food? If you told me this was a full banquet, I'd believe you!"

Shen Qiao was also surprised. He glanced at Luo Ye, a slight smile on his face as he said, "Luo Ye, this doesn't look like something from a restaurant. You didn't go home, so tell me—who made this for you?"

Luo Ye took a half step back, feeling the pressure of his roommates' stares.

"Senior Sister made it."

As soon as he said "Senior Sister," Shen Qiao understood exactly who it was.

Looks like things were progressing quickly.

But Wang Dachui was clueless. He looked at Li Haoyang and scratched his head, saying, "Oh, it's Senior Sister again. Coach, do you know?"

"I think I have some impression… I saw Luo Ye once on a morning run with a girl, but I didn't get a good look." Li Haoyang recalled the incident. Liu Bingxin had mentioned that Luo Ye was with a girl, but he hadn't seen who it was.

Wang Dachui's gaze turned sly as he focused on Luo Ye.

"Ye kid, who is she? Being so mysterious, I thought it was Tang Enqi, the new school beauty, and your high school classmate."

"Tang Enqi?"

At the mention of this familiar name, Luo Ye shook his head. "I liked her in high school, but I don't anymore."

"Ooh, we all know, Ye kid. You came to Jiang University because of her. Without her, you wouldn't even know any of us."

Luo Ye froze for a moment at those words.

If it weren't for Tang Enqi, would he have ever met Senior Sister?

It was hard to say, but maybe not. After all, Su Baizhou was Gu Mingxuan's student, so they might have crossed paths eventually, but that would have been a long time in the future. It was all just a matter of chance, and the odds were low.

So, he had to thank Tang Enqi for pushing him to stick with Jiang University.

After all, he wouldn't have chosen to study here just because his cousin was here. His original plan was to go to a school where no one knew him, and focus on writing.

Seeing Luo Ye remain silent, Wang Dachui exclaimed, "You don't really still have feelings for Tang Enqi, do you? I'll tell you, she's mine."

"Get lost, every day it's 'this is mine, that's mine.' Why don't you just go after them yourself?" Luo Ye scoffed.

At this point, anyone with eyes could see that the new, show-offy rich kid in the freshman class was desperately trying to win Tang Enqi's heart.

His name was… Gao Yuming?

He was on the school basketball team—strong, handsome, and a rich second-generation heir. Apart from his slightly arrogant personality, he was almost perfect.

When compared to him, Wang Dachui couldn't hold a candle to him.

Luo Ye silently pitied Wang Dachui for three seconds in his heart.

As for the relationship between Luo Ye and Su Baizhou, no one at Jiang University knew about it. Even Shen Qiao thought they were just acquaintances, and didn't know their actual progress.

Luo Ye intended to quietly build his success and surprise everyone in the near future.

The group ate the lunchboxes in the dorm.

These lunchboxes were made by Su Baizhou herself, so they were far from ordinary—only a select few could taste such a meal.

After just one bite, even Li Haoyang, who was very picky about food, was impressed. He gave a thumbs up.

Within ten minutes, the lunchboxes were all devoured. The group sat back in their chairs, their expressions showing they were stuffed.

Luo Ye snapped a picture of them and sent it to Senior Sister.

Luo Ye: "Mission accomplished!"

When Su Baizhou saw the photo, she smirked and replied, "No big deal."

At this moment, Su Baizhou was sitting in a classroom, conducting interviews for new freshmen wanting to join the student council.

The student council recruitment was ending soon, and the elections were also around the corner. Both events would be completed within the week.

Looking at the stunning girl in a white dress before her, Su Baizhou asked indifferently, "Why do you want to join the student council?"

The girl, feeling the immense pressure from Su Baizhou's powerful aura, answered nervously, "I… I want to become someone like you."

Her words caught the attention of everyone in the room. On stage, Jiang University's campus goddess and Ice Goddess, the talented Su Baizhou.

In the audience, the freshman campus beauty, the pure and innocent girl in the white dress, who might just replace Su Baizhou as Jiang University's new flower once Su Baizhou graduates.

The conversation between these two top beauties drew everyone's gaze, leaving the other interviewers unable to intervene.

"I… want to be like you."

Tang Enqi gathered her courage and spoke resolutely.

She wanted to be like Su Baizhou—an outstanding student council president, admired and respected by everyone.

"Is that so?" Su Baizhou asked expressionlessly. She casually glanced at the girl before her and said, "You can leave now. We'll notify you if you're accepted."

Her words cut off all the things Tang Enqi had planned to say.

Su Baizhou didn't like her.

From the look in the freshman's eyes, Su Baizhou saw nothing but ambition.

This kind of person would never settle for mediocrity. She would climb to the top with all her might, aiming to achieve what everyone else envied.

In school, her goal was to be student council president; outside, her goal would be CEO or even president of a company.

She would never be satisfied, always wanting to take everything beautiful for herself.

But she hid it well—making everyone around her think she was a pure, innocent girl.

However, she was still too green, too inexperienced, and Su Baizhou could see right through her.

Because Su Baizhou was an even stronger person.
