"Xu Xiaojia?"
Looking at the petite and cute girl, Luo Ye was surprised. "What are you doing?"
"Hmph, don't ask me what I'm doing. I saw you coming out of the cafeteria with a beautiful girl. Tell me, who is she?" Xu Xiaojia replied with a mischievous grin.
Luo Ye didn't remember getting that close to Xu Xiaojia, but she was a chatterbox. There was no one in the girls' dorm who talked to her, so she often wandered around campus, and whenever she saw someone she knew, she would strike up a conversation. She was very outgoing.
"She's a senior of mine."
"Oooh~ Senior. You're not chasing her, are you?" Xu Xiaojia gave him a playful look.
Luo Ye's face turned red at the implication, and he nodded, admitting it.
"I didn't expect it. You're such a pure-hearted guy. Oh, by the way, where's the class rep? I remember he also has a habit of running in the morning."
Luo Ye looked at Xu Xiaojia in surprise. "You know that? You've done your homework."
"Of course! He's a man that my Lady Xu has her eye on."
Luo Ye couldn't help but feel speechless. The man she had "her eye on" was in the middle of a breakup, and she had no idea.
But if Li Haoyang was breaking up with someone, maybe that meant Xu Xiaojia had a chance. Luo Ye still had a good opinion of this little local girl, though.
She was a kind, lively, and cute little thing. Rumor had it that she was a little powerhouse who studied and ate like no one else. Plus, judging by her appearance, she might even be a rich girl. She wasn't like Luo Ye, someone raised by another family; Xu Xiaojia could actually be rich.
"Li Haoyang's not in a good mood lately," Luo Ye said seriously.
"What?" Xu Xiaojia's face immediately became serious. She frowned and asked, "What happened?"
"He's about to break up."
"That's really unfortunate... Wait, what? You said what?" Xu Xiaojia's expression shifted dramatically.
"What?" Luo Ye repeated the word she had said.
"No, no, I didn't mean it like that. You—haha, you're killing me."
Shock, confusion, and amusement switched back and forth on Xu Xiaojia's face, and for a moment, she didn't know how to express her emotions.
Soon, she calmed down but still asked in surprise, "When did he start dating?"
"About seven days ago, during the break. They're about to break up."
Xu Xiaojia burst into laughter, "He met a scumbag, hahahaha!"
Luo Ye was a little puzzled. "Aren't you sad? The guy you like is with someone else."
"You said they're about to break up, right? But it's still funny. He went behind my back to date someone, and now he's about to get dumped? Hahahaha, serves him right. He should've chosen me, Xu Xiaojia."
Looking at the little girl in front of him, Luo Ye began to question his life choices. What kind of mindset did this girl have? He honestly couldn't understand it.
At that moment, two girls walked out of the girls' dorm, seemingly on their way to get breakfast. It was Tang Enqi and Liu Bingxin.
Upon seeing Luo Ye, Liu Bingxin casually greeted him, while Tang Enqi's gaze was directed toward Xu Xiaojia.
"Good morning, Luo Ye, and Xu Xiaojia," Tang Enqi greeted politely.
"Morning," Xu Xiaojia replied dismissively, clearly unimpressed.
She didn't like Liu Bingxin, and even more so, she didn't like Tang Enqi.
Tang Enqi, just like Luo Ye, was from the same hometown as Xu Xiaojia—Beijing. At first, Xu Xiaojia had added her contact information, but after a few conversations, she found Tang Enqi to be too fake for her liking. To her, the "pure and innocent school beauty" label was more of a joke.
Seeing Xu Xiaojia's blatant disdain, a flicker of irritation crossed Tang Enqi's eyes, but it was quickly hidden.
Liu Bingxin, on the other hand, sneered, "Xu Xiaojia, do you know why you don't have any friends? If you don't tone down that spoiled attitude of yours, you might end up without a single friend in these four years of college."
"Don't worry about me. If the friends I end up with are anything like you, I'd rather go through college alone," Xu Xiaojia retorted proudly, a smirk playing on her face as she sneaked a glance at Luo Ye, as if to say, "See, I'm so cool, right?"
Luo Ye could only smile bitterly. This girl had no idea that Liu Bingxin was Li Haoyang's girlfriend.
"Well then, just keep doing you and see who can tolerate your attitude," Liu Bingxin said, before turning and walking away with her long legs.
Tang Enqi, after giving Luo Ye a quick glance, gently asked, "Luo Ye, were you playing games with her yesterday?"
Luo Ye raised an eyebrow, confused. "What?"
Xu Xiaojia placed her hands on her hips, clearly annoyed. "What are you asking about? You're sticking your nose in everything, can't you see it's none of your business? Are you secretly in love with our little Luo Ye, the so-called new student campus heartthrob?"
Luo Ye didn't say a word. Honestly, it was his first time witnessing a girl fight, and he didn't know where to jump in. He couldn't even understand the phrase "little Luo Ye." Who was little?
Tang Enqi furrowed her brow. She realized she was losing this battle with the small, feisty girl.
She turned to Luo Ye and said, "Luo Ye, would you like to join me for breakfast?"
Tang Enqi had been silently in love with Luo Ye throughout high school, and even though he had developed feelings for someone else, she still had the confidence to bring him back to her side. After all, she was confident in her own abilities. With her looks and charm, she was second to none at Jiang University, except for one person.
But Luo Ye shook his head, rejecting her offer. "I already ate."
Tang Enqi froze for a moment.
Once again, she had been rejected. Since arriving at Jiang University, Luo Ye had constantly turned her down.
Only when things were going smoothly could a person hide their true personality. Once they faced setbacks, their true nature would show.
"Luo Ye," Tang Enqi smiled, showing off her stunning beauty. Her smile was the kind that could make anyone's heart race.
"See you next time."
With that, her smile remained confident as she turned and left.
Her personality was such that, after being rejected, she wouldn't press the matter further. She had always thought that Luo Ye's change in attitude towards her was because she hadn't kept her promise to be with him once they got to university.
Admittedly, she had initially hoped to meet the perfect partner in college. But as time passed, she realized that while there were many better guys than Luo Ye at Jiang University, none of them were as pure-hearted as him. No one who had approached her for her looks could compare to Luo Ye in terms of character.
Realizing this, Tang Enqi finally understood that she did have feelings for the boy she had known back in high school. Now, even if he didn't like her anymore, so what?
She had always been the center of attention, excelling academically and possessing stunning looks. Every guy around her had always liked her.
As long as she showed interest, the boys would fall for her.
Luo Ye was no exception.
He had rejected her because she had disappointed him. But all she needed to do was offer him hope again, and with her charm, no one could resist.
The only person who might stand in her way was Su Baizhou—the cold and efficient student council president, known as the Ice Goddess of Jiang University.
But Tang Enqi knew this for sure: She wouldn't lose to anyone.
