Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Excuses

Zerthon and Omirnn continued to clash, their swords ringing out as they fought for dominance. But as the battle raged on, Omirnn suddenly began to falter.

"Wait, let's stop this," Omirnn said, holding up his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I don't want to hurt you, Zerthon."

Zerthon's eyes narrowed, his grip on his sword tightening. "What are you talking about?" he asked, his voice firm. "We're in the middle of a fight."

Omirnn shrugged, a look of nonchalance on his face. "I know, but I've realized that this fight is pointless. We're both strong warriors, and it's not worth risking our lives over a simple rivalry."

Zerthon raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "And what makes you think I'm just going to let you walk away?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Omirnn smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Because I'm giving you an excuse to avoid this fight," he said, his voice casual. "Think about it, Zerthon. Do you really want to risk your life over a simple rivalry? Or do you want to live to fight another day?"

Zerthon hesitated, his mind racing with doubts. Omirnn's words had struck a chord, and he couldn't help but wonder if this fight was really worth it.

But as he looked into Omirnn's eyes, he saw something there that made his blood boil. It was a look of superiority, a look that said Omirnn was better than him.

Zerthon's anger flared up, and he charged forward, his sword flashing in the dim light. "I don't need an excuse to avoid this fight," he said, his voice firm. "I'm going to finish this, no matter what."

Omirnn's smile faltered, and he took a step back, his eyes widening in surprise. "Fine," he said, his voice cold. "If that's how you want it, then let's end this."

And with that, the two warriors charged at each other, their swords clashing in a flurry of steel and sparks.

Meanwhile, back at school, Tessie was having a great day. She was sitting in class, listening intently as the teacher droned on about fractions.

Tessie was a natural at math, and she found herself easily understanding the complex concepts. She was so focused on the lesson that she didn't even notice when her classmates started to stare at her.

As the lesson came to a close, the teacher handed out a worksheet with a series of math problems. Tessie quickly got to work, her pencil flying across the page as she solved problem after problem.

When she finished, she looked up to see that she was the only one who had completed the worksheet. Her classmates were all still struggling, their faces scrunched up in concentration.

The teacher smiled, impressed. "Tessie, you're a math whiz," she said, her voice warm. "You have a real talent for this."

Tessie blushed, feeling proud of herself. She had always loved math, and it was great to know that she was good at it.

As she walked home with Eira, Tessie couldn't help but feel grateful for her new life. She had found a new family, new friends, and a new school. And she was excelling in every area.

Life was good, and Tessie knew that she had a bright future ahead of her.

But little did she know, a new challenge was just around the corner. One that would test her skills, her courage, and her determination.

And as she drifted off to sleep that night, Tessie had no idea what the future held. But she was ready for whatever came next.
