Victoria's eyes were still locked on Lucian's, her mind racing with questions. Who was this mysterious stranger? What did he want with her? And why did he have to be so ridiculously hot and handsome?
As Lucian's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, Victoria felt a shiver run down her spine. But not just because she was scared. Okay, fine. It was mostly because she was scared. But also a little bit because Lucian was really, really hot.
"What do you want?" Victoria demanded, trying to keep her voice steady and her hormones in check.
Lucian's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. I'm someone who's been waiting for you, Victoria,he said, his voice low and smooth. Someone who's been searching for you for a very long time.
Victoria's mind was reeling. What did he mean? How did he know her name?
What do you mean? she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucian's eyes seemed to gleam with excitement. "You have something that belongs to me," he said, his voice dripping with intensity. Something that's been lost for a very very long time.
Victoria's eyes narrowed. "I don't have anything that belongs to you," she said, trying to sound confident. Unless you're counting my extensive collection of old dirty laundry.
Lucian's smile faltered for a moment, and Victoria felt a surge of triumph. Ha! She had stumped the mysterious stranger!
But then Lucian's smile returned, wider than ever. I'm not counting your dirty laundry, Victoria,he said, his voice is low and smooth.Although I'm sure they need special attention,he said with a grin.
Victoria's face went bright red as Lucian's eyes seemed to gleam with amusement. Okay, fine. Maybe she hadn't stumped him after all.
"What do you want?" Victoria demanded again, trying to keep her cool.
Lucian's smile grew wider. I want to show you something, he said, his voice low and mysterious. Something that will definitely change your life forever.
Victoria's eyes narrowed. What is it? she asked, her voice skeptical.
Lucian's smile grew wider. You'll just have to wait and see," he said, his voice dripping with excitement.
And with that, Lucian turned and disappeared into the night, leaving Victoria staring after him in confusion and frustration.
Well, that was just great. Now Victoria was left with more questions than answers, and a serious case of annoyance.
But as she charged towards her apartment , Victoria couldn't shake the feeling that her life was about to get a whole lot more interesting.
She glanced quickly into the quiet streets , her eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of Lucian. But he was nowhere to be seen.
As she approached her bedroom, Victoria's mind was still reeling from her encounter with Lucian. Who was he, really? And what did he want with her?
She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. She had to focus on the present moment, not get caught up in speculation about some mysterious stranger.
But as she opened the door to her room and stepped inside, Victoria couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She dropped her bags and looked round the apartment which was empty.
And then, just as she was starting to think that she had imagined the whole thing, Victoria saw a piece of paper on the kitchen counter.
She walked over to investigate, her heart pounding in her chest. And as she picked up the paper, she saw that it had a single message scrawled on it, in handwriting that seemed to dance across the page:
"Meet me at the old windmill on the outskirts of town at midnight. Come alone."
Victoria's eyes widened as she stared at the message, her mind racing with possibilities. What did Lucian want with her? And why did he want her to meet him in secret?
But as she looked at the message again, Victoria felt a thrill of excitement. She was in this now, and she was determined to see it through.
