Chapter 4 - chapter 4: Family Ties

Victoria's eyes scanned the note on her kitchen counter, her mind racing with questions. Who was Lucian, really? And what did he want with her?

She felt a shiver run down her spine as she read the words again: "Meet me at the old windmill on the outskirts of town at midnight. Come alone."

Victoria didn't know what to do. Part of her was curious, wondering what Lucian wanted with her. But another part of her was scared, sensing that something was off.

As she stood there, trying to decide what to do, Victoria's thoughts turned to her family. She needed to talk to them, get their advice.

She quickly grabbed her bag and headed out the door and boarded a taxi, making her way to her family's old house on the outskirts of Brașov.

As she highlighted from the can and walked towards the family house, Victoria couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She kept looking over her shoulder, but there was never anyone there.

When she arrived at her family's house, Victoria's mom, Irina Darius, greeted her with a warm hug, "Hey baby" she said,I missed you so much, "I missed you too mama" she said in a shaky voice.

"Victoria, what's wrong?" Irina asked, sensing that something was off.

Victoria hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But as she looked into her mom's concerned eyes, she knew she had to tell her the truth.

"I met a guy yesterday," Victoria began, her voice barely above a whisper. "He was really mysterious, and he left me a note asking me to meet him at the old windmill tonight."

Irina's expression turned serious. "Victoria, you can't go," she said firmly. "It's not safe."

Victoria nodded, feeling a mix of relief and disappointment. She had been curious about Lucian, wondering what he wanted with her.

But as she looked at her mom, Victoria knew that she had made the right decision. She wasn't going to meet some mysterious stranger in the middle of the night.

As they sat down to dinner, Victoria's dad, Darius, and her younger brother, Octavian noticed her mood wasn't the usual fun looking Victoria they all knew so they simultaneously asked "what was wrong?" Victoria hesitated, unsure how much to reveal.

But as she looked at her family, Victoria knew that she could trust them. She told them everything, from her encounter with Lucian to the note he had left her.

Octavian, who was 10 years old, looked up at Victoria with wide eyes. "Victoria, is this guy a vampire or a werewolf or wait is he a wizard of the night?" he asked, his voice full of excitement.

Victoria laughed. "No, Octavian, he's not a vampire neither is he a werewolf or a night wizard."

As they finished dinner, Victoria felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had made the right decision, and she had her family's support.

But as she looked out the window, Victoria couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She kept looking over her shoulder, but there was never anyone there.

As the night wore on, Victoria tried to focus on her family, pushing thoughts of Lucian to the back of her mind.

But it was hard to shake the feeling that something was off. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see Lucian's piercing eyes staring back at her.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Victoria's family began to wind down for the night. They said their goodbyes, and Victoria headed to her old bedroom, feeling a mix of emotions.

As she lay in bed, Victoria kept feeling that she was being watched. She kept looking through the window, expecting to see Lucian's piercing eyes staring back at her.

But as she drifted off to sleep, Victoria knew that she had made the right decision. She wasn't going to meet some mysterious stranger in the middle of the night.

Or so she thought.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Brașov, Lucian stood in front of his family's ancient mansion, looking out over the city.

His father,Lord Dragos, stood beside him, a stern expression on his face.

"Lucian, you must be careful," Dragos warned. "The humans are not to be trusted."

Lucian nodded, his eyes flashing with anger. "I know, Tată,. But I will not be bound by the same rules as the rest of the pack."

Dragos expression turned cold. "You will do as you are told, Lucian. You are a Dragos, and you will uphold the family honor."

Lucian's jaw clenched in frustration, but he nodded, knowing that he had to tread carefully. For now.

As the night wore on, Lucian's thoughts turned to Victoria, the human girl he had met earlier that day.

He couldn't shake the feeling that she was different, that there was something special about her.

And he was determined
