Chapter 5 - chapter 5: Struggles

As the clock struck midnight, a deafening silence descended upon the Dragos mansion, shrouding its inhabitants in a deep, eerie slumber. The flickering candles cast eerie shadows on the walls, like skeletal fingers reaching out to snatch the last remnants of wakefulness. And yet, amidst this sea of somnolent darkness, one figure stood tall, his blue siren eyes burning with a fierce, unyielding intensity. Lucian, the only son of Lord Dragos, stood in the grand hall of his family's ancient mansion, his eyes fixed on the portrait of his ancestors that hung on the wall. He felt a sense of pride and duty, knowing that he was a part of this long line of powerful werewolves.

But he also felt a sense of suffocation, knowing that he was expected to follow in their footsteps. To take on the traditional role of a Dragos werewolf, and to uphold the family honor.

Lucian's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind him. He turned to see his elder sister, Alina Dragos, approaching him.

Upon getting closer, she realized he was looking unhappy "Lucian, what's wrong?" Alina asked, her eyes filled with concern.

Lucian sighed, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. Alina was the only one in his family who truly understood him and listened without judging him. The only one who knew about his struggles to break free from the traditional expectations of a Dragos werewolf.

"I just feel so trapped, Alina," Lucian said, in his deep, low and smooth voice . "I don't want to be bound by the same rules and traditions as the rest of the pack. I want to break free from the generational lifestyle of the pack and make my own choices, to follow my own path."

Alina nodded, her expression sympathetic. "I know how you feel, Lucian. I've felt the same way a lot of times. But it's not easy to break free from the expectations of our family and our pack. There are those who will not understand, who will see you as a threat to our traditions and our way of life."

Lucian nodded, feeling frustrated as he badly wanted to hear there was a way he could break free from the traditions and norms but he also knew that his elder sister,Alina was right. He had already faced opposition from their father, Lord Dragos, who was determined to see him,the only son, follow in the traditional footsteps of a Dragos werewolf.

But Lucian on the other hand was determined to follow his own path, no matter the trials and tribulations ahead. He was determined to be true to himself, even if it meant going against the expectations of his family and his pack.

As he stood there, talking to his sister,Lucian felt a sense of resolve wash over him. He knew that he would face struggles and challenges as he tried to break free from the traditional expectations of a Dragos werewolf. But he was ready for them. He was ready to fight for his right to be himself, he was ready to break free from the pattern and create his own destiny and follow his own path.

"Thank you, Alina," Lucian said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Just talking to you makes me feel better. You're the only one who truly understands me."

Alina smiled, her eyes filled with warmth. "You're welcome, Lucian. I'll always be here for you, no matter what. We'll face the struggles together, as siblings and as a family."

Lucian nodded, a sense of comfort and reassurance overwhelmed him at that point. He knew that he could always count on Alina to be there for him, to support him, care for him and to understand him.

As they stood there, talking, Lucian's thoughts turned to Victoria, the human girl he had met earlier that day. He couldn't shake the feeling that she was different, that there was something special about her.

And he was determined to find out what that something was.

"Alina, can I ask you something?" Lucian said, his voice hesitant.

"Of course, Lucian," Alina replied. "What is it?"

"Do you think it's possible for a werewolf to... "To what?" Alina asked. To be with a human?" Lucian asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Alina's expression turned serious as the question came as a surprise to her. "Lucian, that's a complicated question. Our kind has always been taught to stay away far from humans, to avoid all manner of contact with them as well as to keep our existence a secret from them."

Lucian nodded, once again the feeling of frustration engulfed him. He knew that Alina was right. He had been taught the same thing, from a young age.

But he couldn't help but feel there was something more out there, something promising, something that went beyond the traditional rules and expectations of his kind.

"Alina, I know what I've been taught," Lucian said, his voice firm. "But I also know what I feel. And I feel like there's something special about Victoria, I've been observing her and since I saw her I just knew right there and then she was different and special, she's something that goes beyond the usual rules and expectations."

Alina nodded, her expression thoughtful and pitiful at the same time as she wished her baby brother could explore all he wanted to without the family's traditions holding him back. "I understand, Lucian. And I'll support you, no matter what. But you have to be very careful. Our father will not approve of this, and neither will the rest of the pack."

Lucian nodded, Knowing fully well what he was getting himself into yet he was still determined . He knew that he would face opposition, but he was ready for it. He was ready to fight for his right to be with Victoria, to follow his own path.

As the night wore on, Lucian and Alina talked long into the night, discussing the challenges and struggles that lay ahead.

But Lucian was undeterred. He knew what he wanted and all he wanted was to be with the beautiful human he had been watching for a while.

As he sat there with his sister his mind drifted to the letter he left in her apartment, wondering if she's seen it yet and what her response would be,he became anxious, and emotions he had never felt before began to surface,he was finally drawn back to earth as his sister decided to go to bed while urging him to have some rest as well.

He gave her a warm hug and they both dispersed to their rooms. He still couldn't shake off the feeling of restlessness from the thoughts of Victoria

In his room,he lay staring at the ceiling, his heart beating with anticipation of what the future holds for him.

For the first time in his life he felt he was taking control of his life and destiny,it felt exhilarating finally trying to break free from the shackles of traditions. He slowly drifted off to sleep smiling and looking as handsome as ever knowing fully well he was ready to face all challenges head on.
