Six hours prior to the event that happened in Willow Village, Elena was having a nightmare.
She was reliving the day their comrade betrayed them. She watched in horror as Ethan died before her eyes, and madness took over her.
Overwhelmed with regret, she wished to destroy this world with them, longing to end the pain that haunted her for a decade.
"Ethan!"
Awakening from her nightmare and drenched with sweat, Elena felt an unease wash over her as thoughts of her husband filled her mind.
Unable to shake the uneasy feeling, she knew she couldn't go back to sleep. So, she quickly washed up and prepared for the day ahead.
Today, Elena was heading to Willow Village to buy livestock. As she drove along the familiar path in the early morning, a small smile crept onto her face.
The air felt fresh and invigorating, and she noticed a group of older people dancing and exercising in the open area. Their laughter and energy lifted her spirits, reminding her of the simple joys in life.
When she arrived, it was still early in the morning, and she was surprised to see so many people coming into and out of the village.
Elena tried to blend in with the locals as she walked through the village.
Spotting some elderly people chatting in the corner, she approached them with a friendly smile.
"Excuse me, aunties," she said politely, "can you tell me what's going on in the village today?"
Seeing a young, beautiful woman with a polite attitude asking, the old aunties immediately wanted to chat with her.
"It's the policemen doing their jobs," one of them explained eagerly.
"There was a smuggling of firearms a few days ago. According to my source, the police and smugglers had a gunfight. The people you saw earlier are reporters coming and going."
Another auntie chimed in, "Our village has been peaceful for years. We've never had anything like this happen before."
"I know, right? I don't understand what's happening in the world," an older woman added.
"So many young people are getting involved in illegal activities."
"Thank goodness the police are here to arrest them. But beyond that, we don't know much, young lady," the first auntie said.
As Elena listened, she felt uneasy. The mention of the police sparked her curiosity.
Is Ethan also here?
"Aunty, are the police stationed nearby?"
"Yes, on the north side along this path," an aunt replied, gesturing with her hand.
"By the way, I haven't seen you in this village. What brings you here?"
Before she could respond, the old ladies began to shower her with questions.
"Do you have any relatives here? Please tell us. I know everyone in this village."
"Are you still single? I have a nephew around your age. I could introduce you."
Elena felt a bit embarrassed but maintained her composure.
"Aunt, I'm here to find the village head. An uncle recommended your village for its livestock for sale. And by the way, I am already married."
"Oh, you're married! But you're so young," an older auntie said, feeling disappointed.
"You mentioned wanting to buy livestock. I have plenty of pigs. Would you like some?" one aunt asked, eager to make a sale.
Elena thought it would be wise to consult the village head first. He could guide her to trustworthy sellers.
"Aunt, I intend to purchase a large quantity of livestock, so I will speak with the village head first. Could someone please tell me where his home is?"
Upon hearing her plans, the aunts quickly sought to ensure the village head would favor their livestock.
"Young lady, just walk straight ahead. When you reach the village's main headquarters, turn left or ask someone there for directions," one aunt said enthusiastically.
"I have some free time now. I will guide you. Please, follow me," said another aunt, already beginning to walk.
"Thank you, aunt," Elena replied with a warm smile.

"Village head, are you there? Someone is looking for you!" an aunt called outside the gate.
Hearing someone is calling his name, the village head hurried to the door and opened it wide.
"Who is looking for me?"
"Village head, this young lady is looking for you. She wants to buy livestock from our village," the aunt explained, pointing to Elena.
The village head glances at Elena with curiosity.
A young lady.
"Are you sure you want to buy livestock here?" he inquired.
"Hello, village head. Yes, I want to buy livestock," Elena replied earnestly.
"Okay." The village head turned to the old aunt and said, "Aunt, you can sell some livestock from your home."
Realizing the misunderstanding, Elena quickly clarified, "Village head, I want to buy 50 pairs of each type of livestock you have."
The village head's eyes widened in surprise.
"What! You want to order that much?"
"Yes, village head. Mr. Jones from KikFarm recommended your village for its excellent livestock. My husband and I plan to raise some in our area," she explained.
"I need to discuss this with the locals. Can you come back this afternoon? I'll let you know who is willing to sell," he replied thoughtfully.
"Of course, take your time, village head. I'll return later," Elena said, feeling hopeful.
While waiting for the village head and the locals to decide, Elena decided to visit the nearby police camp.
She wanted to find out whether Ethan or one of his subordinates were there.
Unease settled in her heart as she recalled the past when Ethan had returned badly injured.
