Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Morning Rush & School Drama

---

Scene: Dunphy Household – A Typical Morning Mess

(The Dunphy house is in full-blown morning chaos. Claire moves around like a military commander, making sure everyone is ready for school. Luke is attempting to put his shoes on before his socks. Haley is half-asleep at the table, texting with one eye open. Alex is reading a thick book while eating cereal, completely unfazed by the madness.)

Claire: (Shouting.) "Luke! Socks go on first!"

Luke: (Looks down at his feet, confused.) "Huh. That's why it felt weird."

Haley: (Yawns.) "Mom, I think I have a fever. Probably contagious. Might be unsafe for me to go to school."

Claire: (Unimpressed.) "Nice try. Get in the car."

(Haley groans dramatically.)

(Cut to Claire's talking-head interview.)

Claire: (Sighs.) "Every morning is like this. Someone forgets something, someone's barely dressed, and someone—" (pauses, looks off-camera.) "—is most likely trying to get out of school."

(Cut back to the kitchen. Phil walks in, far too enthusiastic for morning time, holding his coffee like it's a trophy.)

Phil: (Excitedly.) "Big day, guys! You get to see your best friends, learn new things—" (pauses, turns to Claire.) "—And possibly fall in love in the hallways!"

Claire: (Warning.) "Phil."

Phil: (Quickly.) "Not you, Haley."

(Haley groans again.)

(Cut to Phil's talking-head interview.)

Phil: (Grinning.) "I loved school. The friendships, the excitement, the locker smells—it was all part of the experience! I want my kids to have the same thing." (Pauses.) "But, you know… without the wedgies."

(Cut back to the kitchen.)

Luke: (Mouth full.) "Dad, did you ever get a wedgie?"

Phil: (Clears throat, adjusting his tie.) "Let's just say… I learned a lot in high school."

(Alex smirks. Haley rolls her eyes. Claire just sighs.)

Scene: Gloria & Jay's House – Manny's Romantic Plans

(Over at Jay and Gloria's house, the mood is… different. Gloria is packing Manny's lunch, while Manny, dressed far too formally for school, is holding a bouquet of flowers.)

Gloria: (Proud.) "Manny, you look so handsome! What's the occasion?"

Manny: (Dreamily.) "True love waits for no man, Mom. Today, I make my move."

Jay: (Sitting at the table, reading the paper.) "Oh, this again?"

(Cut to Jay's talking-head interview.)

Jay: (Sighs.) "Manny thinks middle school is some kind of romantic opera. Meanwhile, I'm just trying to get him to survive gym class."

(Cut back to the kitchen. Manny kisses Gloria on the cheek and heads for the door with his flowers.)

Manny: (Confidently.) "Today, destiny calls."

(Jay watches him go, then turns to Gloria.)

Jay: (Deadpan.) "You know he's gonna get bullied, right?"

Gloria: (Smiling.) "He's a lover, Jay. He will win them over with his passion."

(Jay just shakes his head, muttering to himself.)

Scene: School – Chaos & Romance Failures

(The school hallways are packed. Students rush to class. Haley walks in with her group of friends, already gossiping. Dylan is waiting by her locker, smiling like a golden retriever.)

Dylan: (Excited.) "Hey, babe!"

(Haley smiles, then immediately sighs as he starts playing air guitar again.)

(Cut to Haley's talking-head interview.)

Haley: (Shrugs.) "Dylan's sweet. He's cute. But sometimes I wonder…" (pauses, thinking.) "...Do I like him, or am I just used to him?"

(Cut to Dylan, still shredding an invisible guitar solo while Haley looks increasingly exhausted.)

(Meanwhile, Manny approaches a girl with his flowers.)

Manny: (Dramatically.) "For you, my dear. May these flowers brighten your day as much as your presence brightens mine."

(The girl looks completely confused, then awkwardly walks away. Manny sighs.)

(Cut to Jay's talking-head interview.)

Jay: (Sipping coffee.) "I told him."

Scene: Elliot's House – A Different Kind of Chaos

(Cut to Elliot's house. His mom, Rachel Turner, stands in front of the mirror, fixing her makeup while giving herself a motivational speech.)

Rachel: (To herself.) "You can handle Karen in accounting. She does not define you." (Pauses.) "But if she says one more thing about my lunch choices, I will snap."

(Meanwhile, Elliot's dad, Daniel Turner, sits at the table, drinking coffee and reading finance news. He looks way too invested.)

News Anchor (on laptop): "The stock market is showing signs of—"

Daniel: (Intense.) "Come on… crash already."

(Cut to Elliot's talking-head interview.)

Elliot: (Deadpan.) "Every family has their own brand of crazy. Mine? Corporate stress and revenge-fueled capitalism."

(Cut to Elliot grabbing his backpack as his mom calls out.)

Rachel: "Do not skip breakfast!"

Elliot: (Walking out.) "I ate a Pop-Tart, we both know that counts."

Scene: Elliot's School POV – First Day, Same Drama

(Elliot walks into school, tuning out the noise. He likes school—not for the people, but for the projects. His mind is already running through the code he was working on last night. He has a new app idea.)

(Cut to Elliot's talking-head interview.)

Elliot: (Shrugs.) "Some people spend school thinking about social status. I spend it thinking about how to make money." (Pause.) "Same thing, really."

(In class, as the teacher lectures, Elliot discreetly sketches app designs in his notebook. A kid next to him leans over.)

Classmate: (Confused.) "What is that?"

Elliot: (Casually.) "A side project."

Classmate: "Like… a game?"

Elliot: (Smirks.) "No. Better."

(Cut to Elliot's talking-head interview.)

Elliot: (Grinning.) "I'm building the future, one app at a time. And if it happens to make me rich before college? Even better."
