"Girl, what was that?"
"Huh?"
"Don't act coy with us. Y'know, back in class before Mr. Hingeman's class?" Gina reminded me.
"Oh, that. What about it?" I took a bite out of my sandwich.
"Were you jealous? Be honest." Hazel asked.
"What?" I look at the two, perplexed. "Of course, not."
They gave me the 'we know you're lying' look. "Guys."
They didn't budge. "Fine. I was irked with how much attention the new kid was getting."
"Nadia."
"What?"
"Her name. She's not just the new kid." Gina says, with her eyebrow raised at me.
"Ugh, whatever."
Hazel chuckled as she went back to her lunch plate, and so did Gina.
"Do you think we should invite her to sit with us?" Hazel asked.
"What?"
"Come on, Kaia. She looks lost, and she needs all the help she can get on her first day."
"I'm sure she's fine."
"I insist." Hazel persisted.
She tried calling the new kid over to our table, much to my dismay. Fortunately for me, the new kid was already making her way to another table.
"Too bad." I was internally happy.
"I wouldn't say so." Hazel said, looking over my shoulder, worried.
What got her that worried? I looked over my shoulder to see the new kid sitting with Blake?!
Just what the heck is going on? To make matters worse, Blake and his friends seemed to be having the time of their lives with her. I didn't like it one bit.
