Chapter 27 - A date?

Xavier

"Well, fix it! Do whatever you can to make all those ridiculous articles go away. That's what I pay you for." I assert the seriousness of the issue to the PR team over the phone.

It's one hectic morning. Ridiculous rumours are making headlines online about my Riley! Baseless rumours to tarnish her image. Rumours of Riley supposedly being a bully during high school, with some supposed witnesses.

Just let me find the disgusting people behind those articles. They'll have me to answer to.

My phone rings. "U okay?"

I sigh. "I'm not the one whose name is being dragged through the mud, baby."

She chuckles. "I know your legal department will make this go away, so I'm not that worried."

"You're right about that."

"So, when are you picking me up?"

"For what, baby?"

"The date. Don't tell me you forgot." I'm sure she's pouting. From what I know, we didn't have that planned, I swear.

"... Uh, sure. Be ready by 8pm."

"Okay, I can't wait. I love you!"

"I love you too." She hung up. That brought a smile to my face. Just where should I book our dinner reservation?

As I look through different dinner date spots, George makes his entrance inside my office.

"We've got Intel, boss."

"Okay."

After George finished giving his report, I went back to seeing how far Riley's issue was. All the articles have been wiped off the Internet. That's more like it.

"My man!"

"Don't you have work to do, Sean?"

"Of course, I do. I just wanted to check up on you."

"Why? There's nothing wrong with me."

"You know why. Anyways, are you sure Kate's doing okay? She hasn't reported to work for a couple of days now."

"Mmh, she finally took off some days from work. She really needs it."

"Is that some concern I'm hearing?"

"That ain't funny anymore. Such stupid talk about Kate liking me or whatever won't be tolerated, even if you're my friend. I'm rngaged now. I dont want any unnecessary misunderstandings that can easily be avoided."

"Chill out. My bad, I'm sorry."

"You better be."

"Alrtighty, boss. I'll leave you be. Catch you later." I can finally get back to work.

We're finally making our way to Serenitigh for our date night!

"Have I already metinoned how gorgeous you look?"

"Yes, a couple of times, Xavi."

"I just can't get enough of you." I bring Riley closer to me. She smells so freaking good. I can't get enough of her.

"We're here." George announced.

I lead Riley into our private room with my hand on her waist. "I'm so excited. Are you?"

She looks so happy.

"Of course, baby."

"Should we order this?" She points to the Chicken Alfredo on the menu.

"Do you want the Chicken Alfredo? Then, let's get it."

"I don't know. Why don't you order for me?"

"Of course."

The dinner date goes on really smoothly. I mean, why wouldn't I have the time of my life with her? Riley's just so ethereal. Am I even allowed to be this close to her? Breathe the same air as her? I'm one lucky man on earth.

"Are you even listening?" She raises her eyebrow at me.

I kinda spaced out, admiring her. "Uh, yeah. You were telling me about how excited you are about our wedding."

"Hmm, you just got lucky with that one." She stays silent after saying that.

"Hey, talk to me." I hold her hand, caressing it.

"I'm scared, Xavi."

"Of what?"

"I'm scared that after we get married, have kids, I'll lose myself. I know it's stupid feeling this way when I'm so independent, confident..."

"Let me stop you right there. Your feelings are so valid, baby. It's okay to feel that way. I promise I'll help in whatever way to make sure you don't feel like you've lost yourself. I promise I'll never make you feel like you're just a wife or a mother. I'll make sure that every single day, you feel and know that you're the Riley that I love."

"I'll hold you to that promise." I wipe her tears and embrace her in a tight, warm hug.

"I love you so much, Riley."

"I love you too, Xavi."
