Soon Ji-hye falls asleep, Kashigami gets bored and asks.
"So do you want to learn magic?" he asked, breaking the silence.
Ji-hye jumps out instantly.
"Wait really?!?!?!?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.
She suddenly turns back to him as her face brightens up
"Yeah." he said, giving a small nod.
Her voice almost trembling with eagerness.
"You are gonna teach me????" she asked.
"Yup." he replied nonchalantly.
She leans forward, her hands twitching with excitement.
"So how do we use it?" she asked
"It's all in your soul, you need to channel the power of your soul into your will" he said, his tone calm.
"How??" she asked, in confusion.
"You're don't have a mana channel, you can't feel the energy within you" he said, his voice flat.
".....Then what are you supposed to do?" she asked, frustration creeping into her voice.
"You gotta use my help." he said, shrugging slightly.
"What?" she asked, her brow furrowing, unsure.
"I'll have to channel it" he said,
He steps closer.
"How. Are you kidding me again?" she asked, disbelief in her tone.
"Like this." he said, grabbing her hands with a swift motion.
Kashigami grabs Ji-hye's hands. She is taken by surprise by this gesture.
"Hey, what are you doing????" she asked, surprised
"Channeling." he said calmly, not even looking at her.
Her face starts to flush
"Why are you holding my hand?" she asked, uncomfortable.
"Do you want to learn or not?" he asked, his tone slightly impatient.
"Yeah." she mumbled, still unsure but determined.
"Then let me teach" he said.
"So what, you are just gonna hold my hands until I can cast spells?" she asked, being sarcastic.
"Yup" he said with no hesitation.
"Isn't this kind of awkward? I mean, it's so slow, can you do this faster?" she asked, shifting uncomfortably
"You are still weak. It will take time." his voice dismissive.
"I AM NOT WEAK!" she yelled, her fists clenching in frustration.
"Yes you are." he is unfazed.
"No, I'm not." she shot back.
"You are a mortal, that is weak." he replied.
She gets visibly annoyed.
"How much longer. I'm getting bored!" she whined.
"Patience is key. you know patience is a virtue." he said, teasing her slightly.
"That doesn't mean anything."
"Now try focusing on the mana i am giving you"
Ji-hye concentrates for 5 minutes
"Hey, how much longer."
"I said patience" he replied calmly.
"But I'm not patient." she huffed, clearly struggling.
"How about, you focus more." he suggested.
"Why not give me mana faster?" she asked
"It's not that easy. I am giving you all the mana I can without making you explode like a watermelon. I can't change your body because you don't exist here"
"How long is it gonna take for me to learn magic?" she asked
"It depends. but for now, focus" he said, his gaze distant.
Ji-hye sits down and crosses her legs
"How much longer. I'm starting to lose concentration. Can I sleep again? I should have just kept sleeping."
"No"
"Ok. how much longer?"
"Until you have the right amount of mana."
"Ok"
Ji-hye concentrates for an hour more
"There you go, now you have a mana heart. Now try channeling your own mana into a spell" he said, his voice softer now, a hint of approval in it.
"Which one" she asked, still a little uncertain
"Any" he said.
"No shit Sherlock, but how?"
"What sherlo- I don't know you say the spell name"
"Ok, how do I say a spell name?"
"It's a feeling, a sensation that tells you while saying it, here are some spells. Say it."
Kashigami summons a book showing spell names, there are many spells to choose from.
"Oh right, let's just..." he murmurs, snapping his fingers. Suddenly, the two of them are transported to an open field.
With a mix of anger and confusion in Ji-hye voice
"WAIT WHAT? IF YOU COULD HAVE TAKEN ME OUT AGES AGO WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THAT?" she shouted.
"Because I wanted to see what the king would do." he said, a mischievous aura in his eyes.
"YOU SADISTIC PRICK. I'M GONNA HIT YOU. WAIT, so why are we here?" she asked, glaring at him.
"For magic. I wanted to test out your magic" he explained, his tone cool and casual.
"Ok. But like, couldn't we have done it in the cellar?" she asked, still a little upset.
"Nah, just test it out, you'll understand why" he said with a grin.
" Fineeeeeeeeeeee. " she sighed dramatically.
Ji-hye picks a spell name from the book, the spell she picked is particularly well known, its called "FIREBALL"
"Ok, fireball." she muttered, unsure.
"Okay, make sure to send it straight up. do not send it forward." he instructed, his voice surprisingly serious.
"Why?" she asked, with a suspicion in her eyes
"Trust me." he said with a smirk.
Ji-hye raises her arm upwards and chants the spell. Her voice growing more confident.
"Ok. FIREBALL"
As soon as Ji-hye says the spell name. A magic circle appears over her arm.
"OH SHIT, I FORGOT" Kashigami disappears just before the fireball is shot up into the air.
"What???" Panic filling her voice. "WHERE DID YOU GO? LEAVING ME HERE???" she yelled, looking around frantically.
A huge ball of fire appears, it's as big as a 3 story house. It radiates the entire plane. the fire is so deep and crimson that it turns the sky red with its bright glow.
"What is that???? WHAT" she cried, her voice trembling as she watches the fireball rise toward the sky.
She watches in horror as it seems to head straight toward the kingdom.
"Shit."
Realizing where it's going, she panics. "I CAME FOR AN ADVENTURE NOT TO FINISH A COUNTRY"
"What." suddenly Kashigami appears.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, KASHIGAMI DO SOMETHING, THE CITY IS GONNA DIE"
"What?"
"DO SOMETHING" she demanded, practically shaking in fear.
"Are you blind?" he asks
"What are you talking about????? I'M TALKING ABOUT THE FIREBALL THAT'S ABOUT TO EXPLODE IN A SECOND" she yells, pointing frantically.
"Look up" he said, his tone cool.
She looks up and freezes, her eyes wide with shock.
"Oh."
The fireball is stationary, it is not moving.
"Did you do this?" she asked in disbelief.
"Yeah." he said casually.
"Ah so that's why you didn't want me to do it in the cellar?" she muttered, her knees weak with relief.
"Yup." he said, looking at her losing control of her body.
"You scared me." she whined, her body shaking with the aftereffects of panic.
"Thanks" he said, completely unfazed.
"THAT IS NOT A COMPLEMENT" Ji-hye cried, wiping her eyes.
Kashigami snaps his fingers and the fireball disappears.
"Now then let's get back." he said, his voice calm.
Kashigami snaps his fingers. They are brought back to the cell.
"Ok. So can you teach me magic? THAT I CAN ACTUALLY CONTROL?" Ji-hye asked, still wiping tears from her eyes.
"Yes, I'm sorry." said softly, his voice with genuine remorse
He placed a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.
