AT THE SAME TIME
XAIVER'S POINT OF VIEW:
As I was watching Wanessa lying on a bed, I saw that Wren was close by. They looked like two completely different people, but there was something... off. Something about the way they both wore the same necklace the one with the paw shaped pendant. I stopped in my tracks. The necklace. It was the same, but not quite. I was looking at it and I had no idea where it came from.
The once single piece was now split in two. Wanessa wore one half, Wren wore the other.
"Xavier." Wanessa's voice was sharp, snapping me out of my thoughts. "What are you doing here? I can handle her."
But it wasn't just her voice. Something had changed. And it wasn't just her attitude. I looked at Wren.
"What's going on?" My voice was tight, my mind racing to connect the dots. "What's with the necklace? Why are you both wearing it?"
Wren's grin stretched wider.
"Isn't it obvious, Xavier?" She pushed herself off the wall and walked closer. "The necklace? It's ours."
That hit me like a punch to the gut. There was something wrong here. I could see it now. The two halves of the necklace, the same symbol, but broken in two. Each of them wearing one piece. Wanessa's gaze flickered nervously, her frustration growing.
"It's not like that, Xavier. Wren doesn't-"Wanessa tried to explain it.
"Oh, but I do." Wren cut her off, her eyes glinting mischievously. "It's not about what you remember, sweetheart. It's about what's been inside you all along."
I frowned, confused.
"What are you talking about? What's going on?"I asked.
Wren crossed her arms, stepping closer to Wanessa, but her eyes never left me.
"The necklace, it binds us. We didn't ask for it, but here we are. Two halves of the same soul, trapped together."Wren said.
I couldn't breathe for a moment. My mind spined lightly, trying to process what Wren had said. Two halves of the same soul? I turned to Wanessa worried.
"So, you two are… the same? You're both Wanessa?"I asked.
Wanessa's eyes flickered with something I hadn't expected, it was fear.
"I don't know how to explain it, Xavier. I don't know what's happening. But this… this isn't right."Wanessa said worriedly.
"So, you're telling me that… both of you are in her? In Wanessa?"I asked.
"Exactly. And we're both fighting for control. It's not just her anymore. She's split. We're two souls, two parts of the same person. But neither of us remembers how we got this way, do we, Wanessa?" Wren's voice softened slightly, and she looked at Wanessa, a hint of something deeper flashing in her eyes.
"I don't remember who gave it to us... neither of us does. But this necklace, it split us. I got half here and you got your's on earth. It's like we were chosen for it. Now we're both stuck here. Fighting for control."Wanessa said.
I took another step forward, my mind starting to piece things together.
"Wait, so... this necklace didn't just separate the two of you physically. It split you in two. But neither of you knows who gave it to you?"I asked.
"No." Wanessa said quietly, almost as if she were speaking to herself.
"Neither of us remembers. It's like... it just appeared. One day seven years ago before the incident, we both had it, and then this started happening." Wren said and sighed.
Then it hit me. The pieces of the puzzle were falling into place. This wasn't some ordinary necklace. It wasn't just an object, it was a artifact. It had somehow trapped two souls in one body. But they were different. They were both her, but also not her. The way they shared the same body, but fought over who would be in control. Wren's voice broke through my thoughts.
"You don't get it, do you, Xavier? She's trying to hold on to herself to who she was. But I'm in here, too. I'm not going anywhere. We're both her. Two sides of the same soul, trapped in one body."Wren said.
I shook my head, trying to make sense of everything.
"So this necklace... it's holding both of you together. You're not just two people. You're... two parts of one person."I said.
Wren's gaze softened, though there was still a cruel edge to it.
"Exactly. You're starting to understand. But it's not about choosing one of us. We're both here. We're both her."Wren said.
Wanessa looked at me then, her eyes wide with a kind of desperation I hadn't seen before.
"We'll figure it out. But we need to understand this, both of you. You're both here. And I won't let either of you fade away."I said.
"I am from earth, Wanessa. I remember that part." Wren said. "I starting to have flashbacks too, but I slowly starting to like here."
"I am from here."Wanessa said.
"Both of you are my omega and Luna."I said with a serious tone in my voice.
I noticed how a single sentence of mine made both of them blush. It was kind of adorable. As I stood in the middle of the room, trying to process everything, but the tension was thick, and suffocating. The door creaked open, and I didn't even need to look to know who it was. Michael and Terrence. I felt their presence before I saw them both of them walked in, their steps heavy, confusion clouding their faces. How my guard even let them in?
"Xavier, what the hell is going on here? We've been looking everywhere for her." Michael's eyes immediately sought Wanessa, but then his gaze flicked to Wren standing just off to the side, and his face twisted in confusion. "Who, who are you?"
"Where's Wanessa?"Terrence asked.
I could see the frustration and worry written across their faces, and part of me felt the weight of their confusion. But what they didn't know, what they couldn't possibly understand was that everything had changed.
"Michael… Terrence... it's not what you think."I said. "How you even found me so quickly?"
"You told leaving castle where you went, idiot." Terrence said annoyed.
But before I could say more, Wren stepped forward with that cold smile, her eyes flicking between the brothers as she measured them up.
"So, this is the infamous family." She said with a chuckle, clearly enjoying the way they stared at her, completely caught off guard.
"Who the hell are you? What are you doing here?"Terrence asked.
Wren's grin widened, and she took a step closer to him, clearly unfazed by the tension.
"Oh, you'll want to listen, because this involves all of you."She said.
"What the hell is going on here, Xavier?" Terence looked from me to Wanessa, his confusion turning into something darker, something possessive. "Where's our mate?"
"She's here… but it's not just her."I said.
"What the hell do you mean?" Michael snapped. "What do you mean it's not just her?"
That was when I knew I had to break the news, the one thing none of us were prepared for. She was still thinking about everything that just happened a moment ago. I thought they understood that earlier Wanessa has chosen me and now they still trying to win over her like idiots.
"Michael… Terrence… Wren, here, is part of what's going on. She's inside Wanessa." I said quietly, my voice filled with frustration as I tried to explain. "She's… a part of her. Remember about two souls in one body. Wren is second part of that soul."
"What the hell are you talking about? Are you telling me that she, is inside Wanessa? She is NOTHING like her. "Michael said angrily.
"What the hell is going on here, Xavier?" Terrence's eyes flicked from me to Wanessa, and then his gaze froze on her necklace, the one that had been passed between them. "And that… necklace..."
I could feel the shift. The necklace. The same one Wanessa wore, the one that had somehow caused everything to spiral out of control. The paw shaped pendant. I realized now that they had no idea about the mark, about what had truly happened.
"You see... there's more to that necklace than you know. It's what split them. The necklace... it's the reason Wren is here."I said. "And Wanessa, the reason there are here two Wanessa's instead of one."
"How it even happened?"Michael asked angrily.
"I marked her." I looked directly at Michael and Terrence, letting the words hit them. "I marked Wanessa. She's mine."
I could hear my brothers' breathing become shallow, as they understood what I done to her. Michael's jaw tightened, his face reddening with anger.
"You marked her? Marked her? What the hell is that supposed to mean?"Michael growled.
Terrence's eyes were locked on me, and I could see the hurt in them.
"You claimed her without us? What the hell, Xavier?"Terrence growled.
Before I could answer, Wren stepped in, a sharp grin on her face.
"She doesn't want you." She sneered. "She's his, not yours."
"I'm Xavier's I only want him."Wnaessa said.
"What the hell is this? You think we're just supposed to back off?"Michael growled.
"Yes. You've lost. She's chosen him. Deal with it."Wren laughed.
"I'm not yours anymore. I belong to Xavier."Wanessa said coldly.
Michael's jaw clenched, but he couldn't deny it. Neither could Terrence. They were stunned, seething, but the truth was undeniable.
"We don't want you. We want only Xavier." Wren said coldly.
The words hit them hard, and the room fell into silence. Michael and Terrence were left speechless, as the weight of the situation sank in. They lost Wanessa or Wren. They lost them for good.
