Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Meet A Friend

"OK," Peter replied with a smile.

"Then it's settled. I hope you enjoy your time," the woman said, her eyes gleaming with charm. To be honest, although she had met countless men, it was rare to encounter someone like Peter—handsome and captivating in such a way.

She stepped aside and walked toward the door.

"I'll find you for a drink later!" Jack called out, turning back to Peter with a grin. As he led Peter into the Ritz Bar, he muttered, "You see, Peter, I told you—handsome guys are often just fools."

"Take you and me, for example. Did you see that girl? She was practically ready to drag us into a private room for a wild time. If you're interested, you could call her. Maybe she'll even agree to hang out with you."

"Ahem, Jack, you're talking a bit too much. Let's just head to the bar," Peter said, cutting Jack off with a chuckle as they entered the bar.

Jack raised an eyebrow. "I know, I know. You're Chinese, right? I get it—Chinese people are usually reserved and shy. But you can't tell me you can't find a few women in Night City. Come on, you're in a place where everyone does as the Romans do."

Peter sighed, rubbing his forehead. He wasn't the type to jump into romantic situations with strangers. He preferred deeper, more meaningful connections, the kind where the bond transcended the physical.

Of course, if an opportunity arose for something more direct, he wouldn't say no—but he wasn't interested in women who were heavily modified, either.

He liked people like V, Lucy, Judy, Panan... Ahem, okay, maybe that was a little much. In short, he preferred women who appeared more natural.

As Peter stepped into the Ritz Bar, the atmosphere was noticeably different from the outside. The deafening music hit him immediately, setting the mood for the night.

Men and women danced and twisted their bodies, some spraying champagne wildly on the dance floor, while others eagerly caught the bubbles in their mouths, unbothered by the chaos around them.

The bar also had a few well-dressed security guards stationed around, ensuring that no trouble broke out and that all transactions were under control.

Jack led Peter to a booth not far from the bar counter, where they could watch the scantily clad dancers twisting and moving to the music. The Ritz Bar was a popular spot for Night City's partygoers—a place where you could lose yourself in drinks, music, and even the people around you.

It was known for its great drinks that could make anyone forget their troubles, music that drowned out the world, and plenty of activities that stirred up excitement. But most importantly, the Ritz Bar had an actual security team, which set it apart from many other bars in the city that lacked such formalities.

"V! Cheers to our partnership and brotherhood!" Jack said, raising two bottles of beer. He handed one to Peter and, after Peter accepted it, they both lifted their bottles in a toast.

"To friendship!" Peter said, smiling as he took a long drink, finishing his beer in one go. Jack did the same.

"Welcome to Night City. You've really become part of it now!" Jack exclaimed, finishing his beer and slamming the empty bottle on the table.

Peter smiled. "Since the moment I arrived in Night City, I've been a part of it."

"I feel like our team is going to do something incredible here," Jack said, his voice full of confidence. "We'll make a mark on the world."

Peter chuckled at Jack's optimism but raised his hand to signal the waiter. As the waiter placed another round of drinks on the table, Peter passed a bottle to Jack.

"It's better to keep drinking after all this talk," Peter said.

Jack grinned, immediately picking up the challenge. "Hey! Are you underestimating me? My nickname is 'Little Whirlwind Drinking.' I've been drinking since I was ten, sneaking into my mom's bar. No one can outdrink me!"

And with that, the two started a drinking contest.

Half an Hour Later

Peter stood near the bathroom door, checking the time on his watch. Jack had been in there for a solid five minutes now, and Peter could hear him mumbling something.

"No, no, no. Peter, you're really a monster. I can't even get a little drunk, even though I've shouted so much!" Jack staggered out of the bathroom, still holding onto the doorknob for support, his words slurring as he spoke.

Peter rolled his eyes. Of course, with his Superman-like metabolism, alcohol barely even registered in his body. Beer was broken down in his system as soon as he took a sip.

"Not so tough now, are you, Little Whirlwind?" Peter teased, watching Jack stumble as he tried to regain his composure.

Jack waved his hands in protest. "No, no! I'm not Little Whirlwind! You're my brother, Peter. You're my real brother, okay?"

"Alright, alright, what now?" Peter asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jack rubbed his eyes, his face flushed from the alcohol, and quickly splashed water on his face to sober up a bit. "I'll take you to meet a friend. She might have something interesting that you'd like."

Peter's curiosity piqued. "Okay, let's see what interests me," he said, already suspecting that Jack was about to introduce him to Judy, a woman Peter had grown quite fond of in the game. His smile widened at the thought.
