Chapter 264 - 263. Wilde Jagd, 6

(Rose)

The being-like-her, the dark daiûa who would claim to be god as soon as it would learn to talk like us, is facing a human shaped being not unlike things I've met before.

Has she had only one eye, and less of pain over her face, she would have reminded me of Licht. The one I met once, and got along so well with.

Bleue tells me it is the second Licht.

The one who lost her feet and her innocence to god.

I can't consider her to be a rose anymore. And she surely wouldn't want it. She's now Licht.

The new lord, or rather lady of light raises her head and her power.

Stones fly. The burst of air pushes me away.

The titan has found a worthy opponent and enjoys it as well.

There's nothing more that these false gods enjoy more than something to match their existence.

Something to deny them their tendency to act without limit or reason.

Because they want to be human...

On the other hand, Licht was a human, who wished to go far beyond her limits, in order to match these gods.

Once again, I see a balance of power between beings-like-her, monsters and humanity.

The sovastika of life and power keeps spinning eternally.

A new story repeats itself. And today, Licht fights her monster.

She jumps ahead, light in her hands, at wondrous speed.

The titan strikes the ground. Licht evades and blasts a corrosive glow into the foot of the beast. The monster falls behind, against the building and front of the theatre. It still strikes back somehow, and we see Licht blown away and falling on the other end of the ground.

She stands back on her weirdly glowing feet. She jumps ahead, not running but flying like a bolt. Thunder rises in her hands.

The explosion ensuing blows Bleue and I further back. We go outside the theatre from the nearby exit and go toward the heights of the city.

Behind us, the new humanity is waging one of its wars, or duel.

Licht is burning the beast and the ground together. The monster is poisoning the land and melting reality all around.

My brain is direly affected with it despite the distance. I scream in pain, feeling my brain melting in acid. A part of me is still in the other world. A part it targets heavily.

The part Blume left for me I suddenly realise...

Her root in my mind.

If I lose it, Blume will never be able to find me again...

Here and now, it's being tortured and myself with it, through it.

Bleue helps me walk as they fight behind in a great ruckus.

Licht yells so loudly we hear her, as she makes all of her body radiate plasma.

Her clothes burn first, with her hair, and then the grasp of the monster around her.

The fire intensifies rapidly.

A sun appears, so vivid we see its effect while running away from them.

Licht releases a power beyond anything I've ever seen even from Blume.

The theatre melts. The monster melts.

The air becomes too hot to breathe and we collapse in the nearest hallway of a building Bleue manages to get us in.

Outside, heaven on Earth just fell. Glass windows that survived the end of time suddenly shatter because of the blazing air that spreads through the city.

And yet, we hear that it's not over.

The city burns. Flames blossomed everywhere around the now ruined theatre.

But the obsessed creatures still fight.

Like Ogre and Blume, or far worse. It's a scale of savagery and power I never witnessed.

Licht lost her feet, but still fights.

The monster is reduced to a kind of giant dog mixed with snakes and reptiles features. The shape feels random, improvised, chosen in panic.

They bite each other as they throw themselves against the walls of the streets and buildings. They yell and scream like the beasts they both are. Like we all are.

Bleue helps me get back on my feet and to flee further inside and through the building. Then outside in another street and away from this madness.

We can't see the fight anymore, but we certainly can hear it.

And we see the city burning behind.

I can picture Licht, magic in her hands then glowing, piercing the beast's chest and grasping its heart to burn it.

I can see and hear the monster slicing her body, invading it through her wounds, trying to eat her from the legs up.

Trying to rape her.

I can picture the monster doing that. I clench my fists and teeth in pain.

Bleue is pulling me away from that.

Licht is dying. She's also winning.

The angel of light bolts away into the sky, holding the monster within her hands.

She's burning it with such intensity that we get blinded for a moment as we looked at the sky.

We hear the explosion we can't see. Then we feel the stream of hot air falling on us again.

We're soon outside the city.

We're trying to catch our breath and overcome the panic.

Behind us, city blocks crumble in a great tremor and ruckus.

The monster rises again... Death is not what is uses to be, and it shows...

The titan is now coming toward us. If Licht died, we will as well. I'm petrified.

Two women pass in a rush aside of us. They're going toward the monster... They're carrying long swords I noticed.

Are they human?

They face the monster in the outskirts we've reached. They dodge its primitive strikes.

They wound it like a dangerous animal.

The demon still manages to give them a fair fight. It pins one of them down and crushes her body and head on the ground without mercy. This is death.

The other one manages to pin down the beast with her long sword, but not kill it.

Licht arrives, walking with difficulties on non-existing feet. She's more red than white now, looking scorched by her own flames.

She creates a toxic light again nonetheless. This time not on her hands, but on the other woman's sword. The sword glows. It emits odd metallic sounds.

The huntress then moves in, and strikes the monster down.

It dies under these shocks. It begins to melt under these burning strikes.

She doesn't give up and continues to strike until nothing remains but soup and flames.

A minute later, the exhausted huntress drops her sword and goes to help Licht stand up and walk. Meanwhile, Bleue is helping me do the same.

We meet, all exhausted and not yet recovering from this hour of intense panic for all.

The huntress looks like me... This saddens me somehow.

I pass out in Bleue's arms.

What I have done will continue to haunt me...
