I'm sitting in the reception area of the daycare with Mirio, my hands still trembling a bit after using my quirk for the first time. It's strange. I thought I'd be more excited, or even shocked, but it's more of a calm sensation. The crystal that formed the barrier—I barely commanded it. It felt like an extension of myself, an instinctive response.
Mirio, on the other hand, doesn't seem disturbed at all. He's here, grinning from ear to ear, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"You know, Takashi" he begins, "I think we're gonna be best friends! I'm sure we'll end up at the same schools, maybe even in the same class. Imagine us becoming heroes together!"
Sigh 'This guy is way too energetic' I can't help but think.
It's been about two hours since Mirio's parents came to pick him up, and now my mother has just arrived. The first thing she says is "You have three, I'd say, diamond-like shapes on your forehead that appeared. What's your quirk, Takashi? is it at least good?"
"I do think it's good, Mother." Now that I think about it, you don't even know what I look like. Well, to tell you the truth, I look exactly like Mars—my hair are greyish white, my eyes are light pastel purple, and now even my forehead, it's all the same but I think I'll be taller than him because he was malnourished.(He looks like the character on the cover, except here he's 4 years old)
"Well, let's go then. I've already made an appointment with the doctor who will register your quirk." My mother says.
After a few minutes of driving, we arrive at the Quirk registration office in Hosu City. After parking, we enter the building. There are a lot of other children inside. 'Damn, it must be tough living with that. One of them has a quirk where he can fly when he farts. Might as well not have a quirk at all.'
My turn came up pretty quickly. Upon entering the room with my mother, we were greeted by a doctor specializing in quirks.
The elderly lady bent down and kindly asked, "Your name is Kessho Takashi, that's a lovely name boy. Now, tell me, Takashi, could you show me a demonstration of your quirk?"
I did as she asked and created a small crystal golem. She said, "I see." then had me do more tests. All of this lasted a good half hour. She noted that my quirk was extremely versatile. I could make golems, armor, and even small swords, though for now, I couldn't move them with my mind.
Then she started talking to my mother, " Madame Kessho, if I may, your son has an excellent quirk. What is yours, and his father's ?"
"I can produce snowflakes, and as for his father, there's no need to know, it has nothing to do with ours" she replied coldly, then added, "Takashi will be better than him in every way possible, you can be sure about that."
The doctor just smiled, but I'm sure I saw sweat trickling down her forehead. Then she said, "Hmm...Takashi, now you'll need to name your quirk. Do you have any idea what you might call it?"
Honestly, I had zero imagination, so I decided to call it "My quirk will be called Stone Force."
She recorded the information, then told us that the session was over.
On the way back to the apartment in the car, my mother started talking to me. "Takashi, my son, now that you have your quirk, you have the obligation to be the best. Starting tomorrow, after kindergarten, you'll have training sessions from Monday to Friday regarding it."
"Yes, mother." In reality, this works for me because I was going to ask her for that.
The next day, my training sessions began. I had an instructor you might know, it's the hero Cementoss.
Conversation between Cementoss and Akari after a training: "Madam, your son is truly promising" he exclaimed. She replied "I know, but I don't want him to just be promising. I want him to be the best. So, come back tomorrow and do what I'm paying you for."
"Alright...sorry...very well."Sigh
This lasted for a few years because I'm now in my final year of elementary school.
A lot of things have happened over the past few years. To start, it turns out that every year I've been in the same class as Mirio. In our third year here, Mirio became friends with a certain Amajiki Tamaki, so since then, he's been hanging out with us.
All these years, in every class, I've been the top student. By the way, I'm 1.75 meters tall at 12 years old, so I'm already taller than Mars was when he was 19, nutrition is really important, unless it's just genetics. After all, maybe my father is tall.
Anyway, the most important thing that's evolved is my quirk. I'm already formidable offensively, but defensively, I won't even talk about it.
As for my mother, I suppose she's proud of me for now. Honestly, when you get to know her, it's fine. It's just that I feel like she's trying to accomplish something through me, but I just don't know what it is.
That pretty much sums up what's happened.
Later, one evening a friday, after coming back from school, I was walking when TONG* someone hit me in the head with a steel bat.
I find myself on the ground, my head opened, then the person who hit me say, "Guys, how much do you think the diamonds on his forehead are worth?"
'Shit no way...nah zero chance I'm going to be taken out like that by nobodies.' For a brief moment, I felt fear.
When I started to get back up.
I don't know why, but suddenly I felt a kind of warmth on my wound. I decided to touch the back of my head, and it was gone, which made me realize something I hadn't even thought about. But Mars didn't just have the crystal magic allowing him to manipulate and form crystals as he wished... no, he also had...
