Chapter 1 - The Oro

"Hey! Mr. Solomon, two spoons at most!" Yelled an angry voice from the crowd. Christine didn't mind her uncle's low hisses and frustrated grunts. "Mr. Solomon--"

A strong grip held her back. It was her uncle's, Miguel Ora. His voice was as soft as possible, "Christine dear, that man is one of the chairmans for the organization."

Christine's nods were firm, however, her voice still loud. "No, uncle. The provisions made was not more than two spoons per head. This man is on his third!"

She ignored, approaching the short potbellied man named Solomon. Her small lips curved into a small pout, big brown eyes glaring at the man with a hint of disgust. "Mr. Solomon, you're on your third spoon now. This fundraiser event is for the needy, I don't even understand why you are on the list today."

Her uncle tried to shut her up but her confidence was rising like intense flames. Mr. Solomon gave an embarrassed smile. He didn't know anyone saw him joining the line for the third time.

"Sweetheart, it is an honest misunderstanding. The first time was for my dog." He said with a smile.

Christine scoffed. "Your dog? But there are no dogs allowed in this venue, sir."

"But I will do as you have said. I will leave the line and come back once everyone else has collected, is that fine by you?"

"But you are a big man. It would be completely unnecessary for you to still be here. Let me escort you out, sir." Christine pronounced loudly. This moment was personal to her. Solomon had asked that she went to the hotel with him to have a good night so he could become one of the events sponsors, claiming he was rich and everything she needed in a man.

Her uncle's face was clouded with blank stares, mostly anger. It was an effort for Christine to ignore, but she did.

"Alright, security! Please join me as I escort Mr. Solomon out, a man of honor!" Joy filled her eyes as she said. A while later, she was back in the hall beside her uncle.

"I saw his face, that man would have killed you if he could. Publicly." Her uncle teased, stealing a soft chuckle from Christine.

"You should have seen his face when we were outside!" Amusement lit up in her eyes. "It was priceless! Even--"

"Still, it was very dangerous, Chris!" Warned Miguel. Christine's smile died down at once. "I'm serious, Chris. We are poor, powerless! These men, they have--"

Christine rolled her eyes, "--uncle, I understand. It's all good, I know I have to be careful. That man threatened to sleep with me before he could assist for the fundraising event. That shameless bastard with three wives and eight girlfriends. He's not normal! Hijo de puta--!"

"That's enough now!" Miguel shushed her immediately. He looked fed up already and ready to dispose of her. But in reality, he was only on the look out for her. "Alright, go on and take care of things. The Oro have arrived."
