His hands clenched into fists as adrenaline rushed through him. A thousand and one thoughts raced through his mind as to what to say to her but none of them seemed potent enough to state exactly how he felt
"Hey!" He called, his voice soft and tender. His heart palpitated at the sight of her, and he seemed to lose his balance.
She slowly turned her head towards him, a wry smile on her face. "We meet again for the fourth or fifth time, Williams Albert." Her voice was soft and she sounded so composed.
She was dead gorgeous and Williams couldn't get his eyes off her for even a second.
"Isabella! It's a pleasure seeing you."
Her eyes widened in shock as a soft smile etched on her face.
"You're surprised I finally got to know your name, right? By the way, are you a member of the Albert gang?" He spluttered as he struggled to keep his arms to himself.
Isabella smiled. "Would I be here if I wasn't a member of this gang?"
"Come on!" Williams chided, a warm smile on his face. "Don't you think you should be softer and more kind in the way you speak to me?"
"And if I'm not?" Their eyes were locked in each other's. He could see the affection in her eyes as she batted incessantly.
His mother's frail but firm voice reached out to him abruptly, "Williams, can I get a second of your time?" She pulled him off without waiting for a response or even glancing at the lady before him.
A sigh escaped from Isabella's lips as she was left alone. At that moment, Williams was nothing but a disturbance. With him gone, she could forge on with her mission.
She didn't have time for love or for fun chats. They could do that some other time, but at that moment, she meant nothing but business.
She adjusted her gown a bit and began to move around the place, careful not to be suspected. "I should be able to find some useful information here to use against them.."
She moved around, speaking with a few persons but none was able to give her beyond information that was available to the public.
Frustrated and exhausted, she thought of leaving the party and was heading towards the door when she fell on her hand.
"I'm sorry but you can't go out now." She frowned, "I'm not leaving, am I? I only need to get something from my car.."
"It doesn't matter. You cannot leave until the godfather is done speaking?"
"Godfather?" She muttered to herself and turned to see who it was.
It was exactly who she thought it was. She rolled her eyes and flung her hands in the air. Left with no choice, she had to wait until Williams was done speaking.
Insisting on leaving would only create a big problem for her and she didn't want that.
Strangely, she found herself blushing as Marcus uttered his speech. It was unintentional and neither did she realize it until later.
"It's with pleasure that I welcome everyone, Capos, goons and everyone to this year's gathering. It is no news that our gang still remains the most revered, feared and dangerous gang in the whole of the United States.." Williams spoke as he stood on the podium.
"Dangerous, my foot.." Isabella's sinister remark didn't go unheard as a man turned towards her. "Did you say something now?"
"No, I didn't. Why do you ask?" She frowned, not an iota of smile on her face. "I thought I heard something from you but I think I was wrong."
"Of course you were.." she snapped and fixed her gaze again on Marcus.
A quarter of an hour later, a round of applause rang in the air as Williams descended the podium. Isabella exhaled and began the struggle to leave.
She had only gone a few meters when she felt a hand on her shoulder. "You're heading out?"
She stood still, shutting her eyes tight. Williams was the last person she wanted to be bothered by at that moment.
"Nah! I just need some fresh air.." she muttered, turning her head towards him.
"You should stay here. The dance should start soon." Isabella exhaled. She really didn't have a choice, did she?
Insisting on leaving would be of no good to her. "Fine!" Her lips pursed together as she remained where she was, still smiling. She just couldn't help it when it comes to Marcus.
At the sight of him, she seems to forget she was a gang leader and he was their biggest rival.
Gentle and serene music began to play from the speakers that had been placed all around the hall. The song was soothing to the ears and managed to calm Isabella's throbbing nerves.
Williams was lost in his own world as well. He found it strange that he wasn't willing to punish Isabella, who had been brave enough to speak against him despite knowing who he was.
Had it been someone else, she would be having it with her capo, but things were different with her. It was Obvious Williams was starting to develop feelings for her.
Without thinking twice, he fixed his gaze on her. "A dance is taking place at the moment and it would be unfair to the both of us not to be a Partaker. Join me in this dance."
He stretched his hand out to her and remained still. Isabella glared at his hand a bit, and muttered some incoherent words before placing her hand in his.
He led her to the front of the hall, and together, they moved their bodies with so much grace and elegance.
Williams felt elated and couldn't think of anything else. The smell of her cologne hit him hard in his nostrils and left him in awe.
Her body movement and her expertise at dancing told him at once that she was no ordinary person. He could tell at once that she was capable of being a leader.
"Making her a capo wouldn't be a bad idea, would it?" He thought in his head, grinning.
A waiter suddenly came by and in the course of their dancing, Isabella collided with it. The contents of the tray carried by the waiter spilled all over her.
"Oh my goodness! I'm sorry ma! I didn't mean for this to happen."
Isabella managed a smile but one could easily tell she was irritated. "Wipe yourself with this.." Williams handed his handkerchief to her which she accepted.
She was wiping the juice off her when Williams' gaze rested on her upper arm. Something caught his fancy.
"No, it can't be. It's impossible.." he muttered, moving closer to her.
It became clearer. A tattoo on her arm with the word, Death.
So Isabella was the same person who had stolen from him? He was shocked and excited at the same time.
