As Williams ogled at the screen before him, he was filled with more irritation and anger. Of all times for a strange number to call?
The frown on his face hardened as he swiped across to pick the call. "Hello and good morning." The voice was cold but firm. It didn't sound familiar so it was certainly someone he didn't know.
"Who is this, and how may I help you?"
"Am I on to Williams Albert? I'm calling from the special missions squad.."
The frown on William's face evaporated. What business could the special mission squad possibly have to call him? "Yes, you are. Who is this, and how may I help you?"
"Thomas speaking, on behalf of my boss, Mr Alfred. He would like to meet up with you at our office this morning.."
Williams' face lit into a smile as he called who it was. The Old man who was barely seen or heard of, but he's one of the most important and vital people in the country. He chuckled as he dragged out a seat, helping himself into it.
"This morning? Tell your boss I would be busy this morning, and wouldn't be there until afternoon..
"But sir…" the young man tried to protest, but was rudely disconnected by Williams before he could speak further.
The young mafia leader sprung abruptly to his feet, his lips pressed against each other. He was still infuriated, but it had subsided a bit after the call he just received. A thousand and one thoughts crossed through his mind in the next minute.
"Well, let's see what he has to offer," he muttered with a shrug of the shoulder, and darted off.
An hour later, he was standing in his garage with his hands crossed together. His veins stood taut on his face as he remained transfixed to a spot.
"Starting the car would take you an entire hour?" he thundered at his chauffeur who had been battling with the car.
'I..m sorry sir, I can't seem to understand what's going on with this vehicle.." he had beads of sweat cascading down his face as he spoke.
"Then just get another. Is it harder than that? You can have the engineer check this out later.." Williams snorted and had his chauffeur scurrying out of the vehicle to make ready another.
By the time he was done, every ounce of patience had been sapped from Williams, though he managed to keep his annoyance in check, but his facial expression seemed to oppose him.
They drove through the long and busy road, offering nothing but silence and awkwardness to one another. Williams had his head buried in his phone and occasionally let out a soft laugh.
"Are we there yet?" he asked as he slightly raised his head. Luckily, the chauffeur had just taken the turn into the premises at that moment. "Yes sir.." he packed properly and quickly dashed out to open the door for Williams.
"Thank you," he muttered with his lips pressed together and walked off. He was the real definition of elegance and had his head held high as he walked.
"Good Afternoon, Mr Albert.." a middle aged man greeted right as he sighted him. Apparently, he had been awaiting his arrival for the last hour and had remained standing in that same spot.
"It's afternoon already?" Williams chuckled, a sinister smile on his face. He stretched out his hand to the man who received it at once.
They both smiled, making their way into the building. The feeling of air blowing from the conditioning unit made Williams' skin tingle as his feet dragged against the floor.
His lips remained pressed against each other until they were in the office of the very man who had sent for him.
Upon seeing him, Mr. Alfred rose to his feet, baring his dentures at him. "Good afternoon Mr. Williams.."
"Good afternoon, Mr. Alfred. It's nice meeting you.." Williams' hand stretched out to the Old man who received it without hesitation.
"You must be wondering why you were summoned by me under such short notice.."
Williams nodded his head — that was the best he could do right then. "Please have your seat.."
Williams pulled out a chair and sank deep into it, his gaze locked on Mr. Alfred.
"I'd get straight to why I summoned you… We need your help. Everyone in the city and the state at large needs your help."
Evans' brows flared. He seemed shocked and puzzled as well. "Need me? Why? What would you guys possibly need from someone like me.."
He cleared his throat, his hands rubbing against each other. "As you know, there are so many individuals and bodies who are nothing but threats to the state and everyone at large.." He paused to catch his breath, his eyes flickering incessantly.
"This particular person is a really dangerous one, but the country isn't willing to get involved because of his involvement with some of our worst Enemies. I know you can guess what would happen if we arrest or even kill him?"
Williams nodded, a grunt running from his lips. His feet tapped slowly against the floor.
"Now, we are handing the task of getting rid of him to you. You'll be working on this project with someone else as well and we are certain you'd be victorious with it.."
Williams grinned, glad that he didn't need to validate himself. He was certainly the best out there.. "And who is this person who would be working with me? What's his name?"
"A lady actually!! She should be here in a few minutes from now.."
Williams's brows hardened a bit, but he kept mute, pushing no further.
"And who's this person we would be taking on?"
"Mr. Ted.. you must have heard.."
"Mr. Ted? The same Ted who's a terror to almost every country in the world?" Williams was flabbergasted, his eyes battling restlessly as he ogled on.
"That's right. It's the same Mr. Ted.."
His face was stern and he was dead serious.
"Remember that the country cannot get involved no matter what happens. If you eventually get caught during the process, then we are sorry, but we wouldn't be able to help you or interfere.."
"That's no problem," Williams nodded, "I am a Mafia lord and I understand how these things work. Anyways, let's talk about the real deal.."
"What's the offer?" He adjusted on his chair, his lips curled up.
Mr Alfred's squinted, and obviously had been waiting for that moment. "We are willing to offer sixty million.."
"Sixty??" Williams exclaimed, his eyes bulging twice its size. "I'm sorry, but I can't receive such an amount for that level of work.."
"Do you realize how dangerous and Cunning that man is? Even the biggest Mafia lords in the world dares not cross him, and you want me to take on such a person for sixty million? Nahh!!"
"Please calm down, Mr. Williams. We can negotiate this if you don't mind.."
Williams calmed a bit, a smile etching on his face. "You should have mentioned this from the start. Hundred million and we'll have a deal.."
The Old man was mute for a few seconds and seemed to give it a thought. Eventually, he shrugged his shoulders, "A hundred million it is then. I'll have my secretary prepare the contract right away.."
They smiled at each other, exchanging handshakes like they were Old pals. They were still at it when Mr. Alfred's secretary sauntered in.
"The lady who would be joining Mr. Williams on the project is here already sir. Should I send her in?"
Mr. Alfred's face lit up a bit, "Yes please, do have her come in.." He responded and the secretary faded off at once.
Seconds later, a knock rang on the door. There could only be one person at that point. The door turned and in walked a slim but sexy lady with dark shades on.
"Isabella.."
"Williams.." The duo chorused, their eyes filled with a burning rage.
