A weird mass of ectoplasm carried itself around the whole lab, wriggling happily that guests came over.
'That's a woman!?'
Once it stopped, the incoherent blob turned itself into the upper body of a girl, the lower half was connected to the body on the floor.
She glanced toward the two guests who came in with her sisters and gasped audibly.
"I didn't expect the information to leak so quickly."
Leo glanced at her.

"Are you the person who fused with the Scale of The Hydra?"
A single tear fell down her cheek as he said it, the sharp image became more blurry.
"It's hard to even call me a person at this point..."
Zeph walked closer to her sister and hugged the floating mass, barely holding back tears herself.
"As per agreement, we will unlock both of your rune slots and allow you to take one rune each."
The butler said while still embracing her sibling. Having their rune slots so early would allow them to grow way faster. He didn't even ask for any money because of that.
"Could we do that as soon as possible?"
His cold attitude shocked Nyssa. It was not like him to be so rude to others, especially in those circumstances.
"Yes, I'm very sorry for showing you something so unsightly..."
Phyr shriveled down considerably, but still went through with their agreement, flying through him and embracing his heart.
Her ghostly touch changed the very construction of the system inside him.

Zeph looked looked a bit shocked at how well he took it. In her mind she expected it to play similar way as with Adams, where he fell to the ground wriggling in pain.
Without missing a single moment, he put a piece of cloth in Nyssa's face, not even looking her way, but instead being focused on the runes on the table.
"Bit down on this."
He ordered, knowing very well how it would end up once her turn started.
"And you Gloppy, hold her tight and don't let her fall."
The Slime King saluted and ran to assist her with the fusion process, leaving a trail of slime behind him in a hurry.
Nyssa's muffled screams filled the entire room, painting Leo deeply. However, it had to be done if she wanted to get stronger and continue down this path. With clenched teeth and his nails dug into the table he tried to ignore her cries for help.
"You are full of surprises our dear guest."
While he looked at the runes, Zeph approached him, trying to strike up a conversation.
"I have many questions, but one of them stands out the most. How did you not feel the effects of fusion?"
She inquired with both of her hands crossed on her chest. The previous neutral expression turned into a bit of annoyance at his earlier uncaring words.
There was a trick to it that Zeph didn't know about, it's a very easy one to learn but hard to master.
"It's very easy, I might teach you how to do it one day."
He decided to keep her waiting just for fun. Seeing her annoyance amused him a tiny bit.
"But enough for that. Could you help me search for Mana runes? I want to see what each one does."
Together with her help, they scoured the entire lab. While at it they also sorted the runes by each of the main attributes. When they were done with that, Nyssa was already past her fusing process and sat exhausted by the table.
"And what's that pile over there?"
Leo asked while pointing towards an enormous pile of runes in the corner.
"Oh those, sometimes they come out as duds so I just throw them there."
Phyr said while flying around the lab. She might have assessed them as duds but Leo realized how valuable they were.
One of them caught his eye as it shone when he got closer with a powerful limelight.

"How is this a dud? It looks like the best one of them all."
Zeph took a step closer to see what he was talking about, but to her, it looked like a failure, not because it was weak but because she wasn't able to read its description.
'Maybe it's due to me having the right class for it...'
"Nyssa, once you get back on your feet, could you check if you can decipher any of those runes over here? I will do something in the meantime."
He grabbed the rune and Gloppy, leaving the three girls in the room by themselves.
"Where are we going, Master? And why aren't we taking sis Nyssa?"
"On an adventure."
Leo smiled at his General. First, they had to stop at Adam's office to finish up the agreements about their contract.
"Did you find everything you wanted?"
The giant frowned at him, unhappy that he had to share it with outsiders.
"Yes, as per our agreement, here are all the gate locations."
The summoner threw a piece of paper towads him. He looked at the list, where around 30 gates were written down in detail to their exact position.
As Leo was about to leave, the leader of the Association stopped him.
"Wait a minute. Why is the one closest to us already crossed out?"
A cheeky smirk appeared on his face, without looking back, he snapped his fingers which manifested the Hellbats Staff in his hand.
"Consider it done already."
