The Thread. A seemingly ethereal line that transports all lost and dead souls to the haven of eternal rest and slumber. Existant only at the heart of Mundus, all souls that are born and die find their way back to the root of all beginning. Maya's soul was no exception, as she travelled down the line her body bathed in gold light, she couldn't recall or know of her past life. For the dead do not know of their existence. This rule was placed by G.O.D under strict concerns over reincarnation. Maya awoke in a very distant plane unaware of her previous life. Floating amongst the endless souls heading for the center of Mundus, she suddenly drifted apart from them and found herself in a plane of pure nothingness. As she blankly stared at the horizon, a hue of golden light appeared before her.
"Your soul called me, or is it I who calls you?"
Maya finally spoke, her voice a distortion of her original.
"I do not know." She said
"You do not know of yourself yet your soul shows something more. The very fabric of our universe is at stake. A never ending war between two forces disrupts even the slumber of peaceful souls."
"What do you mean. I....don't understand." Maya said puzzled.
"You will have to make a choice lost soul, both will not alter anything that happens to you. You can decide to rest in eternal slumber. All your worries and regrets fully absolved. Or return as a dimension breacher. Help us fight against the very fabric of evil, the Diabolus, and keep the universe at peace. I am not to make this decision for you, it is what your soul would make lost one." The hue spoke.
Maya felt compelled this was a decision that proved neither understandable nor favourable to her situation. She who knew nothing of her past dwelled to find passing and ease in her eternal life but something felt wrong. A faint glimpse of her past resurfaced in her thoughts. A warm hand holding hers. She finally understood why her soul wavered for eternal rest.
Regret, a soul's unfulfilled wish, desire or decision influenced Maya's mind and thoughts. Curiosity grew as her distorted voice finally sounded exactly like how it should have been atleast to her. Soft, smooth and enchanting. She said
"I choose to be a breacher. There's something I long to know. I don't know what is but I have to find out."
The golden light pulsed at her answer
"You have made your decision. Now as your body is reconstructed and your given the "Gift". The Gift will allow you to fight against the Diabolus. Now reach out to the very light that speaks to you so that you may start your journey."
Maya stretched out her long hand and reached out as the light got brighter.
In a world far and distant, in a future where magic and technology thrived as one, on the high rise of a skyscraper. A distorted figure appeared from a portal that opened from thin air. Her hair as bright as the sun, eyes olive green that showed curiosity unlike no other. She wore pulled up stockings and short Jean shorts. Black athlete top and an over sized jacket. Her face covered by the neon lights below was angelic in nature. As the portal disappeared she looked at her surroundings, a pop up notification came infront of her eyes.
Hello, Lost soul.
I will be your assistant during the time you complete your trial run as one of the breachers sent to this world.
Call me Auxi.
Maya stared openly puzzled before asking.
"What world is this? What's the situation?"
This world is a peripheral copy of the original mother world. This Mundus 147894. A world where technology and magic thrive together. It has come to our attention that a dimensional breach will take place at exactly 2200 hrs this world's time. So we have dispatched fellow breachers and highly ranked breachers to deal with the issue. Your first task is to find a high ranked breachers and receive orders from them. Good luck lost soul, may Mundus be with you."
The notification then disappeared. Maya first looked skeptical and whispered to herself.
"Auxi, Auxi!!"
No answer. She grunted then looked at the height she was placed and thought to her self.
"How will I get down now." She said waving her arms in the air.
A notification popped up infront of her.
All breachers are required to hold a system before they ever ascent to higher ranks and require less assistance in battle. Your system settings will help you with your task.
Regards, Auxi.
"She even had the audacity to send it like a letter!?" Maya said as her status window showed.
Vitality: 50, Dexterity:60
Durability: 40, Intelligence:70
Stamina:60, Gift essence:????
Gift:????
Your gift will be found after you have awoken and your no longer lost.
You can also survive falls from high grounds but it costs your stamina.
Maya looked at her height and turned around to the opposite sized.
"I can jump there no one will notice."
She took a deep breath and made a starting run before jumping all the way to the alleyway.
The force of impact wasn't painful as she landed on her knee. She shattered the tarmac below her before trying to stand up and realised her stamina was depleted. She couldn't stand up straight so she crawled through the alleyway into the busy city side and laid her back against the wall where she could see the people. They simply passed by not minding of Maya.
"Ofcourse. Typical." She murmured as a drop of rain landed on her cheek before it started raining.
"You've gotta be kidding me." She said looking at the people passing by who had Mana umbrellas on top them. Until a stranger cloaked in a long olive green coat came by and held his hand out. He had long white hair. His eyes held a petrification effect on Maya which she didn't like. He was good looking but not that much to phase Maya.
"Need a place to crash.?" He asked.
"You don't wanna take on a stranger mister." She replied.
"Not even when the stranger is a girl in the rain?" He provoked.
"Not when the stranger is picking a girl from the street that is." She retaliated.
A small vein pulsed from his head until she caught his arm and he looked surprised.
"Only because it's raining and your the only one who's cared to look." She said standing up.
"Right, I think you have more reasons than that." He said holding an umbrella out to her as they walked passed the neon buildings and cars in the city side. Across from where they were in the middle of a busy rush hour. A cracked line appears out of thin air and slowly cracks like a mirror hit with a nail. Slowly the cracks are sucked in and a portal opens. Everyone around stares until a minotaur steps out wielding a giant cleaver then roars before jumping away as more monsters appear out from the portal.
