Constantine was walking around on the ground as he saw Harry and a blonde girl….Luna Lovegood, watching some Thestrals.
She wore earrings made of…..raddish? That was a new one. And barefoot, really?
Luna suddenly saw him and greeted. "Professor Constantine."
"Its just Constantine, luv", Constantine told her, and in this case he could just claim he was calling her 'luv' as short for her surname. He looked at the Thestrals and commented. "So watching these now, are we?"
"You can see them too?" Harry inquired, as until now the only ones he knew who could were himself, Luna and Neville.
"I can", Constantine confirmed, not wanting to elaborate much. "Stuff has happened, lot of bloody stuff, if you know what I mean."
"I heard you believe Harry's story", Luna then randomly brought up the topic.
"Well yes, Alby is a lazy wanker but as long as he remembers his own name his opinion is credible I say", Constantine shrugged as Harry was again shocked by the nerve he had to insult powerful people, while Luna simply giggled.
"Why no shoes luv?" Constantine then asked her.
"The others hide my things", Luna said in a voice that sounded neutral and accepting of the whole issue as if it was normal. "So I just go without them."
"Do they? Hmmmmm….." Constantine decided to do a little spell again. "Sume ea quae tulerint ab illa." He snapped his fingers and various shoes appeared right in front of Luna.
"Whoa!" Harry said.
"Choose anyone you like luv, and no one else will be able to take them", Constantine assured Luna with a smirk and wink.
"Thank you Constantine", she said happily and gave him a hug, to his surprise, catching him off-guard as Harry noted his conflicted expression. He clearly was not sure how to react.
She then let go and started going through the shoes, Constantine snickering inwardly as he had summoned the shoes of everyone who had ever stolen and hidden Luna's shoes from her.
A while later, Constantine sat back in his office, yawning a little, when there was a knock on the door.
Well, definitely not the toad as she or anyone associated with her would be falling for one hour, so he shrugged. "Come in."
The door opened to reveal a tall, beautiful, female student of Asian descent, and based on her robes she was clearly a Ravenclaw.
"To what do I owe this pleasure, Miss…."
"Chang, Cho Chang", the student introduced herself as Constantine nodded.
"Right, so….."
"Uhhh…I heard things about you, Constantine", Cho said, clearly nervous over something.
"Like?"
"You said you could summon spirits", Cho finally managed to say. "Of the dead people that is, in a class of yours."
"Right, I said that, any reason you want to clarify that?"
"I want to talk to a spirit."
Constantine was a bit taken aback. "Why would that be?"
"Cedric Diggory, he was my…" Cho was in tears now as Constantine realized why she wanted him to do this.
Well, he didn't do comfort much, but he did warn people. "It's a dangerous business, luv, if something goes wrong, things can-"
"Please, I want to talk to him Constantine", Cho almost begged, her tears turning into full-blown sobs at this point. "I just want to see him one last time, I want to know what happened, I will do anything you ask-"
"Okay fine, just don't tell anyone. Or do if you want to, not that I could care less."
A while later, the office door was closed as Constantine held a book with Japanese writing on it, and it gave Cho an evil feel which already made Cho regret her choice, but now that she had stepped in, she could not back out. She had to see it to the end.
Holding up the book, Constantine explained to the young girl, who in terms of the Wizarding World was an adult already. "This book has a Shinigami trapped inside of it. A Shinigami is a Japanese death spirit, these are spirits who see that people die at their appointed time and guide them to the afterlife. Cedric was killed by a Killing Curse at the hand of another, an unnatural death. It'd be like if he was killed by a gun. He may have passed on, but chances are I'd still be able to call him."
Cho simply nodded as Constantine took some purified rice and used it to make a circle, and then drew another circle of paint lined with symbols to make ghosts visible to those without that talent.
Then flipping through the book Constantine chanted in Japanese.
"Watashi no iu koto o kiitekudasai, shinigami o michibiku shinigami wa, watashitachi ni futō ni tsurete ika reta hito o tsurete kimasu. Watashi no mae no on'nanoko ni aichaku o motte iru 17-sai no dansei. Karera ni mōichido saikai sa sete kudasai."
Lightning cracked outside as the lights kept going in and out, with the whole room shaking as Cho looked around in terror, but Constantine held up a hand while gritting his teeth, the pages of the book now all flipping by themselves.
And then a white mist appeared in the room before becoming human-sized, now in the shape of a young man.
Cedric Diggory!
Even in death he looked handsome and chiselled, like always.
"Oh my….." Cho was in tears again at his sight as Constantine left the room, deciding to give them the privacy they needed.
"Hello Cho", Cedric greeted her with a kind smile.
"Cedric…"
"You want to know what happened?" Cedric inquired and got a nod. "Harry is telling the truth. Though it was one of You-Know-Who's servants that did it, but he is back, truly. The Ministry, instead of preparing against him, is busy vilifying Harry and Professor Dumbledore." He seemed disgusted at that.
"Oh Cedric, I missed you so much-"
"I know, I love you Cho."
"I love you too Cedric."
"But now its not meant to be", Cedric told her sadly as she nodded with tears. "I'll always be with you though, I promise."
He smiled, and she smiled back as they held out hands, almost appearing to touch each other's hands, and then Cedric faded away as Cho had tears in her eyes once more, but felt a knot in her stomach loosen, and a burden had been lifted off of her shoulders.
The door opened as Constantine came back in, collecting his supplies to put back as Cho whispered. "Thank you…."
And now finally, another class was here, and Constantine once again had barely sent a half-naked Rosmerta back to her pub via Floo Network in time while dressing up as he walked out of his office after taking painkillers to ease the headache from the hangover.
"We're going out to the grounds today for the next lesson, as the classroom cannot accommodate it."
And so Constantine and his class were now out on the grounds, Umbridge giving them a venomous glare from her window, but that was really the worst she could do to them.
"So before we begin the new topic, practical one of course, I will need to see a demonstration of what I showed last time", Constantine revealed and taking out a cross, randomly tossed it to Ron who caught it. "Remember, think good thoughts and believe in who you are invoking, it works."
"Are you sure I can-"
"Oh bloody hell, on with it." Constantine snapped his fingers and a portal opened, a Dementor gliding out as the rest backed off, and it moved to Ron who was shaking a little as he felt it come close to him.
He had been close to Dementors before, but now he was the target.
But Constantine was right, just believe in who he was invoking, he had the cross, he had the happy memories.
He had the power.
As the Dementor almost started its sucking process, Ron held out the cross and bellowed. "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!"
With that, he was surrounded in a golden light as the Dementor was completely destroyed.
The students all clapped for him, especially the Gryffindors who were the loudest, and Ron looked very surprised at what he had just done, looking around in disbelief, before a smile crept up on his face.
"Well, that was that, well done, someone takes the world seriously", Constantine took his cross back, then randomly pointed at Neville. "Care to demonstrate the Hanuman Chalisa to us?"
"What? Me?" Neville pointed at himself.
"Yeah, you, come on, don't be shy", Constantine immediately said, knowing this kid needed a bit of a confidence boost.
Neville took a deep breathe, then stepped forwards, shaking a little as Constantine opened another portal with a chant, summoning one more Dementor which glided towards Neville.
He looked at it, shaking in fear, but clutching his fists, trying to remember it all. And believe, that was important. Believe.
Like Luna did. Yes, just like Luna. Believe in his power and he shall come.
"Jo Dayaka Phala Chari Budhee-Heen Thanu Jannikay Sumirow Pavana Kumara Bala-Budhee Vidya Dehoo Mohee Harahu Kalesha Vikaara... Jai Hanuman gyan gun sagar Jai Kapis tihun lok ujagar Ram doot atulit bal dhama Anjaani-putra Pavan sut nama..."
And that was enough as Neville too was surrounded in a golden light as the power of Lord Hanuman wiped the Dementor away right there, as Neville too got applause from the class, the Gryffindors most of all, and had a smile as he realized he had called on the power of a God to obliterate a Dementor.
And so had Ron Weasley.
The two now felt a little change in them, more confident than before in their abilities, all due to the unorthodox teachings of one manipulative and witty conman.
"Anyways, now that we know you lot remember your previous lessons and put them to good use out there in the not-so good world, we can move on to some more. Today we will be meeting some more types of Demons."
The students were all interested immediately as Constantine said. "First, I shall show you."
He opened a portal with a chant as a weird, flying insect type Demon flew out, aiming itself at Constantine but he raised a shield in time to prevent it from stinging him, then chanted as the shield wrapped around it in a cocoon and crushed it to death, the students all watching in awe again.
"Anyways, that was a Reptawk, nasty buggers, literally, their sting can paralyze you, but as you saw, I beat it with my magic. Now you lot cannot do that, but your magic can take it out."
They exchanged looks as Constantine said. "So now, I shall call up one more, and you lot must figure out how to defeat it, all right?"
The students gave nervous nods as Constantine summoned another Reptawk via portal and it made for the students, Harry being the first to react as he summoned a shield charm to protect himself from being stung, and that sent it back too.
Recovering, it lunged for Parvati but she too defended herself using a shield charm, and then Hermione pointed her wand and cried out. "Incendio!"
The Reptawk burst into flames, incinerated already as its remains fell down, and Hermione heard the other students clap for her as she smiled at the praise happily.
"See? I could have beaten it with fire but I chose not to so you could think about it", Constantine shrugged, realizing he had gotten the bookworm to open her mind at last and apply critical thinking instead of parroting what books said, so that was a good thing. "But this was just one, now I will call a few, they're quite fast, and all of you must be ready."
"Yes Constantine", the students said together, wands at the ready, as Constantine opened a portal and summoned a group of those Reptawks.
They flew at the students at full speed but all were ready, repelling them with shield charms and some already burning theirs with chants of 'Incendio', and none of them were bitten so far.
As the Reptawks tried to attack again, Harry fired two 'Incendio's in quick succession and got two of them as the rest were repelled by shield charms, and in two minutes, all of them had been taken down by the students of Hogwarts in the 5th year.
Defeating Demons, even low level ones, was considered a task too difficult for even fully grown Wizards so far.
But the students of John Constantine could do that right in their 5th year, because the conman always got results.
"A job bloody well done, that's all folks for this time, but its gonna get much worse soon, anyways, see ya later."
As he was walking off, the Trio followed as Harry called out. "Constantine."
"Yes", he turned around to face the Trio.
"Well, we read a book in a library which told us other powerful 'Muggle Wizards' exist", Hermione decided to ask him. "Do you know any more? And what's the difference between them and us?"
"There are several types of magic, your kind that forms the Wizarding Community was born with it, but even the most powerful of you are mostly basic compared to the rest", Constantine shrugged, again surprising the rest. "The reason being that most of you do not bother to look beyond what you know or what is taught at Warts, and consider it the full experience."
"Well, you taught us a lot more, didn't you?"
"Just one of the many reasons why I am your best Professor- tall, handsome, brooding and fun", Constantine listed with a smirk. "Then there are Muggles who can learn magic and occult like I have, but it takes practise and most fail."
After letting them absorb this info he said. "And finally, there are Homo-Magi, like Giovanni Zatara-"
"He was in the book!" Hermione said excitedly. "It said he was among the most powerful Muggle-W"
"He wasn't a Muggle Wizard, he was a Homo-Magi, a sub-race of humanity with natural affinity for magic manipulation. Unlike you lot they don't need sticks to wave to do it. I know his daughter, Zatana. Anyway, that's all I've got for today. Go away now."
And then he walked off, once more leaving behind an awed Trio at how big the world truly was.
As Constantine was walking, he saw Draco and his cronies saying something mean to Ginny Weasley, who just stared in anger and stormed off, though it was clear she would have done something if pushed too far.
"'Ello boys", Constantine greeted, flashing a nasty smirk as all of them paled, and Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy were immediately off as Draco realized it a little too late and shook in fear.
Fortunately, Constantine wasn't going to embarrass him this time. His father had been a Death Eater of his own free will (the bloody Imperius lie be damned) and so he had been raised with a mindset like that, and was a bully and bigot due to it.
Under other circumstances, who knows he may have been better? Well, a chance he could get, just one.
"You know, the Nazis, I mean Death Eaters, not an idle path, its not fun and games, you know?" Constantine told Malfoy, who now looked at him in surprise.
"Look, I know what it is and-"
"So best not to follow a path like that. Otherwise, you'll end up like me, and trust me, mate, you don't want that."
Before Malfoy could respond, Constantine touched his shoulder, transferring some of his feelings and pain that he has felt over past actions and mistakes to the Malfoy heir.
Malfoy suddenly had wide eyes and an expression of horror. Then, he actually teared up, his lip quivering.
"You feel that? It's only a taste of what's to come. Wise up, squire, before it's too late."
Draco's lip quivered as he looked at Constantine, then stormed off in tears.
As Constantine was about to go out of his office, he felt a scream and turned to see Peeves the Poltergeist having trapped himself in a circle Constantine had made to contain the annoying git.
"Gah! Naughty magician tricked me! You-AAAAAAARRRRGGHH!"
The barrier shocked Peeves as he convulsed and made comical sounds.
"Well, I'll let you off as long as you do not bother me and-" Constantine took out some sort of bomb-like artefact, "-put this under the toad's bed."
"What does it do, eh?"
"See for yourself", Constantine shrugged, snapping his fingers as Peeves was let out and took it from him.
A while later, Umbridge lay down on her bed to sleep when there was an explosion and she was covered in dung from top to bottom.
"AAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!"
She ran out of her room, screaming at full volume as various students saw her state and laughed hysterically.
Oh this was a great night, Constantine thought to himself as felt two sets of naked breasts pressing onto him- Zatanna and Rosmerta.
Fun threesome and great for all of them. He was about to go to sleep when he heard his magical detector used to detect dark activities beep.
No student or teacher here really used dark magic, something had happened. The other two heard it as well as Constantine shut it off but Zatanna was up already.
"Think something has happened here, gonna go check it", Constantine told her, getting up and wearing his clothes.
"Guess I should go then….." Zatanna muttered, picking herself up as she and Constantine shared another peck, and then dressing up, she teleported away to get back to her usual business.
He quickly made his way to the best place to inquire about such things- Dumbledore's office. He entered, and saw that Dumbledore was not alone.
McGonagall was there, along with Harry and the Weasleys. The Weasleys were still in their night clothes, and all looked shook up over something.
"What's going on here?" He inquired out of curiosity.
Harry felt he could tell Constantine, this man would always believe him. "I saw Ron's dad….Mr. Weasley, being attacked…..it was a giant snake…it wasn't a dream!"
"All right, all right, not a dream", Constantine wondered why or how Harry had seen it, and walking to him, put a hand on his head, chanting. "Nexum revelare."
His hand glowed for a second as realization crept upon his face and he whispered to himself so only he could hear. "So, that's how you did it, you slippery little bastard."
He and Dumbles needed to have a chat soon.
