Chapter 1 - The Hero's Party

My name is Jayce Middler and I'm twenty-nine years old. For my entire life I have always been average in everything, and ordinary in any perspective. I work at as a regular office worker, living on minimum wage and working tireless hours. That is, at least that was my life before the incident of XXXX happened. It caused a rift in the world. Cracking the ground in half, and tearing down mountains in process. Many damages and casualties occured those following days, and people deemed it: "The End of the World". I too was a victim of those natural disasters. In my office so late at night, I slaved away for work that my leader left me to finish for the next mornings meeting. As I slowly started to dose to sleep, I felt my body tremble.

"I must be too tired, this load of work is taking too much of a roll on me..." Jayce yawned, teary-eyed. But he was struck with confusion when the trembling didn't stop. By the time he realized an earthquake struck his big building, the ceiling was already falling from above him, collapsing and leaving no remains of his body.

Naturally, I should have died underneath all that debris. However, when I woke up, I ended up being transported into another world!

"It must be like those I've read on Twittok! The main character unexpectedly dies and is transported into another world..." Jayce stared in surprise at his body, still in tact despite the multiple stone piercing and crushing his body. He patted every part of his body, feeling completely fine and healthy. Then this really does mean I survived... How truly insane this must be. A number of questions swarmed his mind, none of which could be answered at the very moment. But fate is kind to those who wait, and wicked to those who are quick.

A young man slowly approached Jayce in a cautious manner. Jayce took note of him quick. How could he not? This young man seemed no older than twenty-two, wearing a dark vest and black pants. He wore his cloak down, revealing a handsome face filled with youth. His inky black hair was a mess, yet it perfectly complimented his deep blue eyes. On his forehead, above his right eye and underneath his left eye, moles could be noticeably seen. In fact, those were the first thing Jayce noticed about this man. What incredible beauty! If Jayce had been born a girl, he'd been kicking his feet by now. Never in Jayce life has he looked that good, specially at that age. Without admitting it, he felt a bit of jealousy staring at this man. Jayce took a closer look and took note of the bow and arrows this young man carried. So this man must be a hunter! In Jayce's knowledge, the hunters in the games he played all have the same personality. They were cold and heartless. They killed without mercy!

His hand involuntarily trembled in fear, one wrong move and he could easily be killed!

Don't worry! I can still remember some moves I've seen in games before. With the position we both are in right now— I'll just have to kick him by his feet, make him lose his balance and empower him!

Now the man was mere inches close to him. Now! With all the force and courage he could muster up, Jayce swung his feet at the hunter. "Ey!"

To his disappointment, the hunter jumped up in time before Jayce could attack him. Time for plan B! Initiate tackle tactic! As the hunter landed on his feet, barely fazed, Jayce got up to his feet and threw himself at the Hunter's waist, intending to throw them both down on the ground. Jayce grunted in his struggle. This man was clearly very strong, he didn't even budge after Jayce continuously tried to push them both down.

Surprised, and very concerned by Jayce's increasingly reddening face, the hunter scratched his face.

"Uhm...are you okay? You look out of breath," The hunter said, pulling Jayce off him effortlessly by the scruff of his shirt. Jayce got off easily with little to no energy life to struggle. Now taking the closer look, the hunter's blue eyes widened in surprise. What Jayce wore was nothing remote to anything he had ever seen before.

"Such peculiar clothing, it's almost similar to those of nobles but your suit is plain and dull in color. Is this a new trend by nobles?" The hunter spoke in such curiosity and softness that threw Jayce completely off. Where was the hostility? The sense of danger? The threatening to kill him this very second? The hunter tilted his head curiously at Jayce, blue eyes wide and sparkling. Is this man really a hunter!?

"Ah..." Relief flooded his chest when Jayce realized this man didn't seem eager to kill him this very second and his body relaxed. If he died the moment he got transmigrated, there's no guarantee he would transmigratemagain!

"Mister, are you okay?" The hunter asked.

"Mister!?" Jayce knew he was pushing thirty but to be called mister when both men were in their twenties felt like a stab to the chest.

"I'm only twenty-nine! You don't look any younger than me, you know." Jayce lied. "Don't call me mister when we're practically close in age!"

At his silly outburst, the hunter laughed heartily, finding the situation both silly and strange.

That was how Jayce came to know Elijah Noster. And that their meeting became the start of what they would soon call: "The Hero's Party"
