Chapter 2 - TWO

"BUGGER OFF!"

Suddenly courage filled my body, and I moved to slap the man who tried to intimidate me. This was all a dream!

My dream!

The sound and feeling of skin contact didn't come though and my hand moved through his face, passing through it as if I moved my hand

through mist.

I frowned. "I rebuke you."

The man nose scrunched.

"Begone, in the name of Jesus!" I shouted, making a finger cross, eyes narrowing as I tried to muster up all worship feelings I had.

He didn't disappear or wail in agony like the demons in old horror movies. I moved my body closer to his, circling him like a scientist observing an exotic animal.

"Strange," I muttered.

I waved my hand in front of his face when I moved around him

again.

"Leave."

The man's eyes twitched.

"Adios."

His lips turned downwards.

"Ciao-"

He grabbed my wrist, cracking it. Lightning shot up my arms, making me squeal and try to escape.

"Fuck, begone demon!"

The next thing I saw besides the angry man's face, the bathroom roof that was encased with intricate tiles. Like a holiday house interior kitchen design in Spain. Or France.

The next?

The ground and darkness.

The man had thrown me over his shoulder.

And I had been defeated in my dream.

Lucius Nightangale gazed coldly down at the woman at his

feet. She was sprawled on the bathroom floor like a slab of monster meat on a chopping bored.

Blood, broken limbs and cracked skull.

He looked at his wrist, bare from any marking save one thick line. Like a tally. He only had one mortal life left, one chance, one opportunity.

It had already been seven times, seven lives, seven regressions. And he was here.

On his last mortal one.

Nothing had worked. His realm destroyed. His friends killed.

His allies exterminated. His lover executed. His country fallen.

In every life.

He had never succeeded in saving the world from the oncoming

disaster.

Lucius had not once escaped this catastrophic evil circle of

fate.

This opportunity was his last hope.

In his seventh he had been driven to strike a deal with that one. Something he couldn't think of, its presence and being not bound by

human conception.

The result? She was here. A mere mortal soul, granted powers

beyond the norm that would grow with time.

The only thing that one had granted him.

Madness creeped into the man's eyes as he bent over and trailed his finger along the curve of her jaw.

"You will save my world in this life." His fingernails gripped her face, blood blooming from his touch."Or I will destroy yours in my next."

I woke up suddenly, like any would in the beginning of a novel where the main character fainted. My body felt good again, no pain. I rose up, stretching my arms behind my head as a I groaned.

Yoga morning stretch? Check.

The dream was over and the beauty was gone. I sighed sadly, opening my eyes.

A man stood in front of me. The blond haired one.

I blinked.

He stared down.

I closed my eyes and plopped back down on my bed. Sleep and wake up - Back to my room. I'm dreaming again.

It was definitely a nightmare with that stalker guy looming infront of me. Like that Edward diamond guy from that vampire movie.

My eyelids twitched, body freezing as I felt cold fingers encircle my ankles.

I didn't struggle, my real life awaited me on the other side.

One sheep, two sheep, three sheep-

"Ahhhh!" A scream tore out of my throat as I was dragged out of the bed. I clawed beneath me, desperately trying to get away, my head dizzy as I was slung on the ground like a fish being reeled in on a fishermen's boat.

My shoulder hit the ground hard, a crack sounding like a percussion.

"Weak."

My vision became starry. I could practically see the cosmos.

How freaking magical.

"Incompetent."

Bile rose at the back of my throat.

"Ignorant."

A strong calloused hand gripped my throat as my body was lifted from the ground with little effort.

The man's eyes was blazing at me, his face resembling a

crazy person.

"We will rid you of these qualities."

His voice sounded delusional, and it whipped my ears that

began to bleed.

"You will shed your fear and weak bounds."

He dropped me.

I landed hard, again.

Asshole!

Language.

I groaned in pain.

Wait.

I was in pain.

I've had painful dreams before. Like the ones being paralysed and all. Or nightmares that made me wake up in cold sweats. But I would always wake up after the pain. Yet, here I was.

Not waking up from the dream. And I could think properly. Which made it weirder.

Nightmares never held any thoughts for me.

Only pain.

A foot crunched my stomach as the air left it. I gasped.

Digging his heel into me, the man spoke arrogantly, "I will make you strong, stronger than myself. And you will save the world, Kana Yos. That is your mortal binding."
