Chapter 5 - FIVE

'You're bad luck, kid.'

My body shuddered, my mind in slight chaos. All emotions, including rage and defiance, had left my body after running through the forest and coming to a new place.

I was deflated and tired.

It had only been an half a day, yet, my life had undergone drastic changes. I hadn't experienced this since I was in custody.

'Kana.'

I traced my lips with one hand, digging my nails into my other. When I first arrived in this hospital like room, despite being delirious and on edge, a woman with bright yellow light blazing from her hand tended to me, her strange magic washing over my body.

I had come to realise magic exsisted. And the woman's was comforting like a warm hug.

'Kana.'

I had noticed the injuries that would heal by themselves closed quicker with the woman's help. She had also muttered something in a different language, tapping my head softly.

I had flinched at her touch, making the woman concerned before leaving hurriedly.

'Kana.'

I turned my eyes to the side, a voice was whispering inside of me. My eyes flew wide open.

A young woman, someone's I was all to familiar with, sat their smiling at me, with her legs crossed in the seat by a small window. The evening glow illuminated her figure as she flipped through a book in her hand.

'Are you listening?'

'I am.' A transparent figure passed through me as I tried to reach out my hands towards her, settling besides her on the floor, resting her head on the young woman's knee.

'My favourite characters this guy, Lucius, he's very gentle.'

'Is he good looking?'

'Well he has blond hair, tall and muscular, which is my type. But weird eyes.'

'What colour?'

'Purple.'

The young woman smiled, ruffling the young girls hair.

'Anyways, the author is having an event next week and I'll be going.'

'Can I come?'

'You have school.'

A tear streamed from my eyes. A slam broke the atmosphere, the transparent figures disappearing from my sight as a door slammed open behind me.

"Cassy," a woman voice cried, a clutter of footsteps making there way to me.

I turned over and was startled. A green skinned lady, with tusks poking out from her lips upwards, unruly curly blond hair with forest green eyes, rushed over to me hurriedly. She stopped by my bed, her face a mixture of concern and sadness.

She sat slightly on the edge at the end.

"Cassy, who did this?" The woman asked, voice low, eyes heavy.

I opened her mouth to speak- A knock sounded, disturbing us.

"I greet Lady Cassandra Opal," a deep widened voice spoke, making my head turn. In the doorway stood one large rounded old man, flanked by four individuals in a knights attire.

I swallowed audibly.

"May we enter at your permission?"

"Granted," a cold voice came out of me, surprising myself mentally.

The orderly group strode in, before bowing towards her respectfully, fist on their chest, head bowed.

My eyebrows rose.

"Lady Cassandra, we have come to assist you." The old man was the first to straighten. His beard was groomed, eyebrows thick, with a twirled stache. Like a typical carnival master, except more rounder. "In capturing the villain who dare cause harm on Academy grounds."

The green skinned woman laughed, her voice gruff, "Interferring with fae matters is none of your concern, Fredrick."

The old man paused, before speaking in a monotone, "Lady Cassandra was found injured by students within the Frostwood Academy grounds. By our guardian rights, we have investigative authority over the concerns and affairs of those we employ of Fae descent, Miss Havana."

Havana stood slowly before walking towards them, glaring down at the old man.

Kana realised the she-hulk woman was taller then a human male, nearing 6ft 5.

"I will address this issue with my Lady, " Havana enunciated, her golden hoops on her ears swinging as she moved her head closer to the old man's face. "Whose status is far above those faelings bound by your Academy rules. When my investigation concludes, I will correspond with your office."

"If Lady Cassandra wills it," the old man refuted, stepping backwards. His face void of emotions. "We will accept this proposal."

They all turned to look at me, yet, I confused in my head at their speech patterns. Faelings? What the hell were they? Frostwood Academy? Where the hell was that?

Their eyes didn't once move from me. I felt somewhere deep inside me that if I didn't speak, something bad would happen.

I pondered, the green skin lady was familiar with me. She said my lady. Was she my servant? That was scary. After realising this was not a dream and I was very much in fact in the body of a different woman, there were be considerable consequences if I was found out.

Which could be incredibly easy, as I had no clue as to how this body acted.

They called me Lady Cassandra, so I can draw the conclusion I was of a slight status. Coupled with the other woman's words, I was probably of some noble lineage.

How would a lady act?

I tried to remember all Historical dramas and novels I had watched and read when I was depressed in my younger days. Their parlance and speech patterns I couldn't remember, only that all of them had several things in common.

Looked down on others. Acted better then others. Cold. Untouchable.

They also hadn't responded negatively when I had spoke coldly before, despite saying only one word.

The only problem was, do I go with the green lady or the knight guys. One seemed familiar with my body, which was dangerous. The other? They appeared to be not familiar with my body, only acting as an investigative body into what happened.

They would also probably try to punish the culprit.

Punish the culprit.

My eyes widened with glee before I schooled it into a cold expression. I coughed slightly, my voice slightly hoarse as I mustered up words, "Havana, I will allow their participation in this investigation. I hope the Academy can enlighten me as to why I was injured on their grounds."

Havanas eyes opened, her face slightly hurt at my words. The old man face showed slight suprise before it disappeared.

He cupped his hands and bowed. "We will engage all Forst Guards for the investigation, Lady Cassandra. It is on our Academy's honor that no villain will go unpunished for the harm inflicted upon you, my Lady."

I sneered in my mind, that guy had it coming. Weren't knights strong? I wonder how he would fare with their swords through his back.

I spoke softly after a moment. "I trust the Academy will uphold justice in my honor."

The old man, and the quiet knights who hadn't said a thing since entering, bowed to me again. However, more lower then their greeting.

"We will uphold justice, in Lady Cassandra's and the Acdemy honour." They banged their chest, and stomped their feet in union. I nearly side eyed them at this display.

"May I ask a few questions Lady Cassandra, " The old man inquired. "To assist us in our investigation."

"You may."
