Chereads / Reincarnated Monkey King / Chapter 20 - Divine Hunters

Chapter 20 - Divine Hunters

---

Celestial Confusion

In the grand celestial hall, the gods sat in silence.

They had felt it.

The awakening of the Monkey King's power.

But…

They had no idea where or who he was.

A god with long flowing robes and a crescent moon symbol on his forehead spoke first.

"We know the Monkey King has returned, but we do not know where."

The six-armed god, Mahoraga, frowned.

His golden eyes gleamed.

"This complicates things."

A war god with red armor and a massive glaive leaned forward.

"If we do not know who he is, how do we hunt him?"

A god with paper talismans floating around him smirked.

"The answer is simple."

He waved his hand—a shimmering map of the mortal world appeared.

"We felt his power. Even if it was only for a moment, its effects must have left traces."

Mahoraga nodded.

"Then we must descend. We will find vessels and search the world."

The red-armored war god hesitated.

"If we descend… we risk our lives."

Mahoraga grinned, flexing his six arms.

"Then we just have to make sure we don't die."

The gods nodded in agreement.

One god asked, "And what if Buddha learns of this?"

Mahoraga's eyes flashed dangerously.

"Buddha is meditating. He will not wake for another day."

"One day in heaven is—"

"One hundred years in the mortal world."

Mahoraga smirked.

"That is plenty of time."

Meanwhile, in the Mortal World…

The night sky stretched above as Wukong sat on a rock, glaring at his own hands.

He could still feel it.

That one moment where his power had returned.

But now?

Nothing.

Tian and Lily sat nearby, watching nervously.

Lily finally spoke.

"So… what do we do now?"

Wukong gritted his teeth.

"First, I figure out how to break this damned curse."

Tian tilted his head.

"And if you can't?"

Wukong grinned.

"Then I'll just steal more power until I can."

Lily blinked. "Steal power?"

Wukong tapped his temple.

"I can still use parasite magic."

Tian paled.

"You mean the thing that lets you control people and steal their skills?"

Wukong shrugged. "Why waste time training when I can take what I need?"

Lily sighed. "That sounds like something an evil villain would say."

Wukong grinned mischievously.

"Yeah? Well, villains have more fun."

But before they could continue—

A strange feeling washed over Wukong.

A chill in the air.

A presence.

He narrowed his eyes.

"…Something's coming."

Divine Descent

Far above the mortal realm—

The gods descended.

Their celestial forms burned away as they entered the world, replacing themselves with mortal vessels.

The process was… painful.

They had to lower themselves, suppressing their true divine essence.

And worse—

Each god knew one rule:

If the vessel died, the god died with it.

Mahoraga stepped out of a shrine, cracking his human knuckles.

"…Tch. This body is weak."

He flexed his six arms—his strength was a fraction of what it used to be.

Other gods emerged, adjusting to their mortal bodies.

Some were in cities.

Some in villages.

Some in the wild.

But they all had one goal:

Find the Monkey King.

And kill him before he unlocked more power.

Wukong's Hunt Begins

Wukong stared at the night sky, his golden eyes narrowing.

He felt it.

The shift in the world.

Something—or someone—had entered the game.

And he had a feeling…

They were looking for him.

He grinned.

"Good."

He stood up, cracking his neck.

"Let's see who finds who first."

Tian and Lily exchanged nervous glances.

"Should we be worried?" Tian asked.

Lily sighed.

"Yes. Very."

To Be Continued…
