ASHLEIGH.
Does that man has superpowers to hide his mistresses? I was in utter shock. I covered my mouth with my hands. I just disappeared from that woman's sight. With his powers, I am completely concealed from the naked eye. I tried not to make a noise, because if I do, I would be caught.
I sighed as silent as I could, and backed down the wall. It was right there, the door, but it was eradicated with one swipe. And as I know that this was just a magical power and it doesn't outgrow the reality, I heard the voice. It was sweet, mellow, and pleasing for the ears.
Every man can swoop down low with that voice. Do I even sound close to that woman? I guess not. I was not the same delightful woman, but... why is he trying to kiss me?
"I'm roaming around the castle, thinking of what to do next. You're here early. Did you have a good sleep?"
Is the husband and wife not even sleeping on the same room? That is weird. I don't think that in the present world, a man and a woman can do that. Friends can even sleep with each other unless there's no strings attached. But definitely, that was just a laughing stock matter. Who wouldn't fall for a man who wears off your underwear and kiss you in the middle of the darkness?
Oh... yeah. I had thought of that. The present world... is not the world I am right now, is it?
I looked down at my hands. I don't even recognize if this is my true hands. If this is the same soft palms that Ashleigh had in that white room with the mission granted by an invisible woman. I looked at my nightgown, and wondered...
"Does that man gives this dress to his mistresses?" I chuckled. I bit my bottom lip, knowing that I am a side chick. I went to the wall again, just a few inches away, and eavesdropped. I can't pound on the walls, or I might get punished by the man.
"Yes, I have. I might have awaken in the middle of the night because I still feel tired. Can I sleep over at the castle?" The man doesn't sound enthralled. So, what would I be here if her wife is here? I would be stuck here at the walls until the night, waiting for her to go out? Due to desperation to go out, I pounded at the wall. There was no response.
I guess even his powers can seal the sound I made from the empty room.
"Yeah, sure. Anything for my wife," he told her. Then, I can hear the footsteps disappearing. With my nervous and anxiety kicking in, I had to slap the wall several times. With all that, I saw my palms getting red several times. The sweat trickled down my forehead, and the hotness trickled all over my neck.
I looked around the room, and there was nothing I can break over the wall. I don't have the powers of that man, so how can I even make a door appear right in my eyes? I cursed underneath my breath, sighed, and think of what to do. I paced back and forth, I had another feat with my palms, and even slammed by body towards there.
But I failed. I don't even have an idea how to get out of here. I am thirsty and I just fell down at the floor. I hissed, wondering how I've made myself tired at that moment. Tucking in my knees close to my chest, I leaned my head at the wall, and just stared into nothing.
Earlier, it was a dark room. Now, it was walls painted with white. I don't even see the corners in the ceilings. It was bland and pure white, and there's nothing I can even see. I just stayed there and whispered, "What am I doing here? Why should I be here? Is this even a part of the mission they are telling us about?"
I don't even know what to do, so I just sit there and waited for my eyes to get tired.
It felt like hours have passed already. I can't even track the time around here, because I don't know what land or world or this existing moment was. I couldn't help but to think I was forgotten for a very long time. I was waking up from my sleep when a sudden push at my back woke me up.
I don't know how to respond to that but just become woozy and drowsy at my place. The sleep was good, but after I opened my eyes to the reality, it started to creep out in me. I don't think I'd ever despise someone as that man who had made the wall appear once again to retrieve me.
When I realize that, I went berserk and immediately jolted awake. I stood up as fast as the bolt of the lightning and turned to him. He's all dressed, but right now, it's maroon, and that the clothing was thin. I guess, I understand the situation he's in now.
"I am deeply apologizing for concealing you at this spot. I had to hide you from my wife. That is the drill we always talked about." This is driving me crazy. I woke up here without knowledge and now I am revealed as a mistress after a deep, undisturbed sleep. I grit my teeth and rested my hands on my waist.
"I will escort you out and onto the cloud carriage, your servants must be waiting for you."
I don't understand what the hell is he saying. Isn't it written all over my face? That I am clueless and that...
"You dare to have a mistress around when you can't even have the guts to show me! You are such a pathetic man!" I shouted. He was taken aback by what I said, so I threatened him further. I stepped up towards him. Due to the anger building up towards me, I raised a hand and I tried to slap him, but...
There was a greater force in his hand that made me froze my hand in midair. I was pushing through the wind, but it felt like he also got control of the wind. He smirked, and put his hands behind his back. That insult in his lips was the death of him. If I can touch him right now, I would have tackled him on the ground and send him a thousand punches that he may regret.
"You are the one pathetic here. I don't think shouting at me was written in the contract. Now..."
A wisp of force put my hands down, and I took a step back. He's eradicating my defiance.
"Follow me out of the castle. Our night ends here. I'll see you next time, Devi."
So I'm a contractual mistress now? I crossed my arms over my chest and he kept staring at me. He smiled at the corner of his lips and muttered, "Or do you want me to carry you downstairs?"
I shoot him a glare. He was messing around with me, isn't he? The man chuckled, gesturing for me to get out. This man was a gentleman, but I don't even dare to give him that title. I rolled my eyes, and just walked out of that room.
I was getting ahead of him, like I was a confident woman who can tell the directions out of this castle. He was just following me 5 steps behind, but when I got bewildered where I should turn. So, with anger still creased in my eyebrows, I turned around to ask for his help.
He acted all mighty.
The man went towards me and said, "I thought you're not going to ask for help. Turns out, you like to have it, too."
I rolled my eyes. He was laughing at my expression. The man held out a hand.
"What?" I snapped.
"Hold my hand," he told me. What is he implying right now?
"Are you trying to..."
"Just hold my hand or you're not going to go out of this castle," he threatened. I'm pissed. That left me with no choice to hold his hand. And right after I touched his palm, a subtle current of energy flows through my body. It was warm and electrifying, the air around me was warm. The world blurred in lights, and I don't have a choice but to close my eyes.
A split second have passed, and we have been suspended in a vast space.
And after I felt the connection of my feet in the land, that's where I realize... the area was completely different. In the distance, the silhouette of the castle loomed. The walls are high, imposed, and weathered by time. The skies were already dark, and the stars wrote constellations.
"Devi!" A shrill from the carriage caught their attention.
She went out of the carriage and run towards me: a tall figure, her hair was an endless cascade of black silk, swaying as she strode towards me. The attendant's eyes were worried, and did I... broke a promise?
"We have been waiting for you since earlier noon! We thought something happened to you!"
