Evangeline walked into the Fairy Teacup cafe and it was like a breath of fresh air to her. Whenever she was celebrating or felt sad, this was her go to place. A slice of double chocolate chocolate cake was what she needed right now to add a little sweetness to her life.
"Hello Ms. Beaumont, your usual order?"
"Thank you Jenny." Evangeline replied with a soft smile. After collecting her cake and coffee, Evangeline sat by the window to enjoy her treat.
Evangeline was the unofficial mascot for the cafe, her beauty caused many of the customers to stop and stare almost as if a real fairy was in their presence.
"Mommy, Look!" an excited little girl points in Evangeline's direction
"Is she a fairy?" she asked inquisitively
"I don't know, why don't you ask her." her mother said
The little girl pulled her mother in the beautiful woman's direction. The mother was a bit worried about how the woman would react to her daughter's question.
"Are you a fairy?"
Evangeline looked at the little girl, tilting her head before glancing at the mother.
"A boy in my class said that fairies aren't real, but you're so pretty so you have to be a fairy."
Evangeline smiled at the little girl, "Of course he won't believe that fairies exist because only another fairy can tell if someone is a fairy."
An excited gasp left the little girl, "Does that mean I am a fairy too?"
"Of course, you noticed me so you have to be one too." The little girl's mother was in shock, she wasn't expecting this at all. A total stranger would play along with a child's imagination just to make them happy.
"This is our little secret, so you can't tell anyone else, okay?"
The little girl covered her mouth in attempts to keep their secret and nodded her head
Evangeline raised her pinky finger to the little girl as a gesture to seal their promise. After sealing their promise the little girl and her mother left with their order, the little girl waved one final good bye to her new friend.
People in the cafe were stunned by the interaction. The beautiful woman looked unapproachable but just from the way she spoke with the little girl, many could tell that she was also a pure and gentle soul.
After leaving the cafe, Evangeline went back to the motel. She had way too much time on her hands.
I'll just catch up on some much needed sleep.
That was her last thought before falling asleep
