(Kanitsae's POV): His raw emotions, especially the dark feeling of guilt, regret and anger were too much for me to handle. I felt my mind slipping away. The visions were too brutal for me to take in, because I did not recognise the loving older brother he used to be in my memories.
Fortunately, the monster in the visions was different from the brother that was hugging me at this moment. I felt safe and comfortable. I slowly let go of the images from the visions and I started to hug my brother as well. I noticed that he was snapping out of his trans state. He stopped his ranting about it being his fault and that it should not have happened.
Then I heard grand master Sunrider angrily yelling at us.
(Grand master Sequoia Sunrider's POV): I was shocked by the sheer brutality of the scene and at the center of it all were my disciple and his young friend. They were surrounded by mutilated bodies with body parts all over the place. I could not imagine what led to this.
The Jedi temple has been a serene and clean place for several thousands of years, since the end of the first Jedi schism. Although, we have had scuffles outside between Jedi and non-Jedi, we never had anything of this magnitude happen in the Jedi temple.
I need to get to the bottom of this. My disciple has a lot to explain after this. I thought that he would come to his senses after two weeks of meditation, but I guess I was wrong and this mistake seemed fatal.
*GASPS* "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE?! YOUNG MAN AND YOUNG WOMAN YOU TWO NEED TO EXPLAIN YOURSELVES!"
But as I got closer, I noticed that I did not recognise any of the people that were slaughtered by my student. I only recognised young Jaraen's lifeless body, which was a shock to me as we just had a conversation earlier today. I remembered him talking about his aspirations and his bright smile when greeting me.
*I felt a deep sadness and guilt washing over me*
But those feelings were gone in a split second, as my disciple snapped out of his daze.
(Kew'ilaä's POV): As I came to, I saw all the bodies around me and my sister in my arms. Then I remembered what had transpired earlier. I saw my master standing face to face with me and I needed some answers as to how this could have happened.
Master Sequoia, why were people from outside able to reach my room?
Grand master Sunrider seemed surprised by my question and told me that we needed to go with her for questioning as such an incident has not happened before in the Jedi temple.
I wanted to argue with her, because I needed answers as to how outsiders could be here and why I was targeted... But my sister looked at me and said "Let's just go with them. It will look bad if we do not cooperate." She probably used her force ability to calm me down as I lost my sense of defiance.
I turned to my master and told her that I have only one condition before going with her and that is to bury my younger brother. She nodded that it would be okay to pick him up.
To get to Jaraen's body, I needed to use the force to clear the rubble. What was left of his remains were part of his torso and half of his head. When I got his lifeless body close to me, I reached out to close his eyes. Then something unexpected happened.
I saw a force echo of his last moments.
(Jaraen's POV): I heard the assailants talking about eliminating the target and I assumed that they were referring to my brother as they were in his room. I looked around me and I saw that one of them had a bomb on him. I was not able to identify the type as I was not familiar with them.
Luckily for me, he was one of the two grunts that needed to look after me. I tried to loosen the rope, but one of them noticed and tried to subdue me. I tried to fight him off; however, with the restraints it was quite difficult. In the end, he managed to subdue me, but I got what I wanted, the bomb.
Then I heard one of them saying that the target was closing in... I had little time left to defend my family. As I recalled all the fun times, we had with the three of us. From little kids to young adults, we were always close and depended on one another. I felt relieved that I was finally able to protect what was most precious to me, but I regretted not saying that I loved my brother and sister to their faces. I guess this is it guys, you will have to become the greatest Jedi masters without me. I smirked as I activated the bomb and I used the force to land in the middle of the grunts.
*Shortly after the bomb detonated and the force echo vanished with it*
(Kew'ilaä's POV): I just stood there, while tears were dropping down. My master and sister assumed that it was because I lost my brother. In part this is true, but his brotherly love at his final moments touched me. I was glad that a part of him will always be with me as the force ability that he had was inherited by me.
I do not know the specifics about inheriting force abilities, but I knew that he had given it to me. As I looked around I came to the realisation that the order might not be the right place for me. It could do little to protect me and the last assignment proved that they care little for actual justice.
My sister and I buried our brother with some of the items that reminded us of him and we knew that he would want to take to the grave. Funnily enough one of the things was his notebook with indecent drawings of grand master Sunrider. I chuckled at those memories of him trying to spy on my master's bathing time. *Sigh, I will miss this little fool*
*One day later*
(Grand master Sequoia Sunrider's POV): I picked up young Kanitsae and young Kew'ilaä to go to the hearing by the council. It was a rare private hearing. I tried to explore their feelings through the force, but to my surprise both of them seemed calm. Despite knowing the gravity of the situation.
As we arrived at the allocated place, we separated and I joined the other council members. It was determined that master Kiyoga and I were only able to act as references for the character of both padawans and did not hold any power in the verdict. This was due to how close we are to the perpetrator Kew'ilaä.
Master Kiyoga approached me and asked me what I had seen. I explained that when I arrived it was already over.
(Master Kiyoga's POV): After speaking with grand master Sunrider, I was sure that she did not see anything. I hope everything works out as planned. *Smirks*
