Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Imprisonment

The rising tensions between the various factions within the temple resulted in multiple arrests and the prisons being overflowed with all kinds of Jedi that were not inline with the current council's visions for the order. Ever since master Sequoia left it has become more radical and the acceptance of new ideas or visions has become a sensitive subject. These ideas or visions for the order might lead to suspicions from the council members or their supporters, which in turn leads to imprisonment.

As these imprisonments were primarily based on suspicions and lacked evidence, it led to long imprisonments without a trial or a hearing date that has been delayed indefinitely. There were even rumours about people being tortured to find out more about the like minded individuals that shared their visions and ideas that did not conform to the Jedi order's views.

The various factions became shadow organizations operating in the dark as the harsh measurements scared most of them, but at the same time fuelled their dissatisfaction with the way the Jedi order operates. Over the years, many Jedi were used to the idea of having an open mind to explore various subjects and being told that they needed to change their ways did not seem right.

(Kew'ilaä's POV): It has been some time since I have been at the temple and things have changed and it was not in a good way. The escort team made sure that I was secured and because I was known for having a high amount of midi-cholorians. They used several measures to prevent me from using the force.

I had handcuffs and an armour that siphoned my force powers and I was kept in a box with a transparent front. It was a force suppression cage that was meant to nullify any remaining force power I had. The cage had an additional feature to give me shocks, in case I did not behave. It was quite harsh, but I knew that I had to keep my head low for a while and see what I could do. As they still had the power to hurt my little sister.

As I was escorted to the prison, I saw that there were noticeably more prisons surrounding the temple and it seems like they are building even more. It is strange and the way the prisoners were treated reminded me of how the Zhell's treated their prisoners of war on Coruscant.

I noticed that the holding cells were filled with many of the younger generation of Jedi and that even the older masters known for their free thinking and exploratory nature were being held. It seems like I might be able to find like minded people here that could be beneficial for my future plans of changing the order or even breaking off.

After passing hundreds of blocks we finally arrived at the deepest level of the prison, according to the guards it is where they kept the most dangerous individuals with the most significant crimes. Unfortunately my crimes were deemed the worst of the worst for supposedly betraying the Jedi order outright.

Quite a dumb traitor, if you betray the Jedi order and deliver a witness to the organisation that you are trying to betray. But oh well not everyone uses their logic, while I have to admit most of them are probably too scared to speak up for the others as it would lead to suspicion.

This part of the prison is heavily guarded and interactions with others were almost non-existent as each individual on this level was deemed a high risk. The crimes ranged from political crimes to more gruesome ones. There were even some former senators imprisoned here, it seems like not only the criminals from the Jedi order but even the ones from the republic are put here.

As for my situation, I was still optimistic. Although the current status is not ideal, I knew that I could turn it around. As chaos is a ladder and provides opportunities.

Luckily, I have been able to experiment with the force nullification/suppression gadgets due to the force syphoning armour that I needed to wear for the last five years. I was able to learn the ability myself and negate the effects of the armour. Now in the current predicament, I was able to use my abilities and I know an ability which might be useful now.

The memories of the voice guided me in the usage of the ability force telepathy. This ability will be useful to communicate with the other inmates. I will have to give it a try on the inmate next door.

(Inmate's POV): A voice in my head suddenly popped up and was saying that he was the inmate next door. I thought I was finally going crazy as there was no way... *Sigh* It has been a couple of years since I communicated with someone and my mind is now playing tricks on me.

*unknown voice* How long have you been incarcerated?

I thought if I am already going crazy then I might as well entertain the thought. I have nothing else to do. And I started to answer the questions of the unknown voice.

(Kew'ilaä's POV): As I spoke with my neighbour, I found out that he has been here for a couple of years but he is not sure as it is difficult to keep track of time without any indicators. We were kept in these holding cells that were always illuminated to make sure that the inmates were in their cells. Force users had additional restrains ranging from just handcuffs with force nullifying abilities to my current predicament.

My neighbour was a former senator of the republic and advocated for a peaceful resolution on Coruscant, but apparently the other members disagreed. He quickly became a target when his political movement gained traction. As he had been friends with several Jedi masters, he confided his ideas about peace and his political movements to them.

Apparently master Shan was one of the masters that he confided in. They used his words but twisted them to make it seem like he was doing this to further is his own ambition at the expense of the Zhell's. The outsiders view on Coruscant's conflict was that the Zhell's where the party with a righteous cause and were justified in their actions. While the Taungs were just warlike barbarians that only wanted to kill and loot.

As I continued to connect with other inmates, I realised that there were many influential people from all kinds of prominent backgrounds in the holding cells around me. This will definitely help my cause in the long run. I will have to abide my time and build my own network of influential and powerful connections.
