Chapter 7 - Chapter 8: The Flame's Origin

The following day, Aarik couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Every time he stepped into the training grounds, he felt the weight of unseen eyes upon him. He knew Kaelen was right: he couldn't trust anyone completely. Even Kaida, his new friend, seemed distant at times.

Determined to learn more about the Eternal Flame and its connection to the sect, Aarik made his way to the sect's hidden library, a vast and dimly lit place filled with ancient scrolls and forgotten knowledge.

The librarian, an elderly woman named Eldra, looked up from her desk as Aarik entered. Her sharp eyes studied him for a moment before she nodded toward a particular section of the library.

"You seek knowledge of the Flame, don't you?" Eldra asked, her voice almost a whisper.

Aarik nodded. "Yes. I need to understand it fully."

Eldra led him to a set of ancient tomes, their covers worn and cracked with age. She pulled one from the shelf and handed it to him. "This book contains the origins of the Eternal Flame. But be warned—its secrets are not for the faint of heart."

Aarik opened the tome, scanning the pages filled with dense, cryptic text. It wasn't until he reached the last chapter that the full scope of the Flame's power became clear.

The Eternal Flame wasn't just a source of immense power—it was a key to a forgotten realm, a place where gods and demons once clashed for control of the mortal world. The sigil on his chest was a mark of the Flame's chosen, those who would wield its power to restore balance—or destroy it entirely.

Suddenly, a chilling realization struck him. The Shadow Sect wasn't just after him for his power—they wanted to control the Flame itself.

Eldra's voice broke his thoughts. "Be cautious, Aarik. The power you now hold is not without its dangers. Many have sought it before, and many have fallen."

Aarik closed the book with determination in his eyes. "I won't let it fall into the wrong hands."

With that, he left the library, his mind racing with the knowledge he had just uncovered. His journey was no longer just about survival—it was about protecting the very balance of the world itself.
