Chapter 24 - TRUST

"Blood letting is an ancient practice of draining blood as a means of purifying a sick person," Thania explained. "Or in our case, getting rid or bad spirits."

I sighed as I leaned in further, my body pressed against the large iron doors of my cell.

"Why were you brought here?" I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me.

"Murder," she said flatly.

I gasped in shock and Thania began laughing like she had not just admitted to killing someone.

"I didn't kill anybody," she said softly. "He didn't die. Poor fucker managed to escape with a few bruises," she huffed.

"I've done worse," I confessed.

"You?" She exclaimed. "You look like you can not hurt a fly."

"Why the hell were you even sent here?" She asked, her suspicion obvious in her tone.

"I burnt a house down and I kissed a girl," I retorted.

She burst into laughter so loud I feared the servants might hear her.
