Chapter 20 - Impact!!!!!

The foot of the war machine hit the valleys as it made it out of the mountain. With its giant strides, it would be on them in like thirty to sixty seconds after the impact

The major problem now was her crash landing. With no cushion but the hard boulder they were on, they would sustain grave injuries.

She had only devised this plan not to have herself incapacitated for nearly a day after she had shattered to pieces from a direct impact with the valley.

"Hold on tight and don't let go, no matter what, don't let go, you hear," she screamed at him. He could barely hear her from the updraft against his ears, but he was going to do that anyway.

The boulder hit the ground, landing amongst the remains of those that had come before and they did not look pretty; they had all broken down into smaller bits. A boulder the size of a castle would crumble into a small shed.

The impact force tore through the boulder, as crack ran from the point of impact up to the very top of it.

It continued, with the impact tearing through them as well; they felt like their organs were being pounded to mush; it was the longest two seconds of their lives.

Dorian's arm shattered into pieces as she held onto her; while she lost an arm, both their hearts collapsed and their lungs ruptured.

They had broken bones all over their body and would need at least a decent amount of time to heal but the war machine was already in their trail.

They fell into the heart of the impact as the boulder crumbled all around them. They were both unconscious. Even with the earth rumbling, they remained unconscious, not aware the giant was fast approaching.

After a couple of seconds, Dorian coughed up blood; he was the first to wake up; he had the least of the impact as she had shielded him the best she could from the impact.

He couldn't feel his body, at first, as he had sustained some minor damage to his spine. He felt the rumbling inch closer and closer.

"Hey, it's gaining on us!" He screamed at her but got no response; he couldn't move his head, and he couldn't check on her; he had in his view the brown sky and faint fog of dust overhead.

He coughed up more blood and felt the rumbling rattle the rocks under his back. War mother! " he screamed, "it's coming."

He could feel his body start to mend, his spine healed, and he could turn his head again; he turned and saw the giant like a hundred feet from them; the many mountain rocks had made it difficult for it to navigate through the terrain, and it slowed it down.

He could see Hellena; it seemed she hadn't moved an inch. He tried to get up, but he couldn't, and then Hellena coughed up blood; her ruptured heart had finally healed, and she was conscious again.

"You're awake! War! It's coming for us,"

She still had more blood in her throat and couldn't quite speak yet; Dorian was panicking. He feared he'd be crushed under the giant's foot. She coughed up more blood, and with her head facing the sky, it just landed on her face.

Her eyes started working again; she could see the clouds, and memories of when it was blue flooded her mind; she felt a bit melancholic like she was in her final moments. She soon realized one of her arms had shattered away, and the other was barely hanging on; she knew what she needed to do.

She focused all her energy on that arm, directing all her healing power into it. Dorian was still screaming at her to wake her up, this annoyed her so much, that she screamed

"Shut up already, dipshit."

Tears filled Dorian's eyes, "I thought you were dead," he says.

"Well, I'm not, so shut up and don't cry," she coughed up more blood. Be quiet, let me focus.

The giant was closing in on them, she had only started mending her arm. Her torn flesh was sticking back together like she was reversing time. She could feel the rumbling so close now it rocked her head and turned her face towards Dorian, their eyes met.

He still had tears in his eyes and she still had that indifference.

What's with him and crying all the time. She thought

"Are you alright? " she said, "can you get up"

"No, I don't think I can"

"Well, you have to," she says, "or we'll both get caught, and I won't have that; I've come too far, and I won't let them get you. Now stop with the waterworks and put your mind to it. Focus! Feel every part of you mending"

They could hear the rocks a couple of feet from; they were breaking as the war machine was close.

"We don't have time for this" Dorian screamed

"Shut up!" She yelled at him, her screams tore through the air, and to him, it seemed like she drowned out the rumbling.

"Focus, breathe, feel it from the top of your toe to the hair on your head. Can't you do that for me, dio?"

Dorian nodded, he closed his eyes, he could still hear the rumbling, but he couldn't focus

This is our only chance, focus, Dorian, focus. He said to himself but the rumbling was echoing in his mind, he blurted out in a fit of fear,

"I can't do, I can't do, I can't"

"Shut up and heal! Heal or we'll both die," she screamed.

He quieted down and tried again; he put his focus on his knees and could feel them mending, but the rumbling had gotten heavy, and images of the giant's gray foot crashing down on him filled his mind.

He could feel his legs had gotten better, and he could feel his back again, but he also felt pain around his body, so many parts were still broken. Would he be able to get on his feet, he wondered, and then there was the fear; the fear kept him distracted.

He opened his eyes and turned to her; in the distance, he saw the gray giant.

"In two strides I'll be here," Hellana said

"What!?"

"Now get the hell up," she spoke in an authoritative, cold voice, "get up Dio, you can't die here, not after all you've been through"

He took in a deep breath and slowly pulled himself up, it was excruciating but he powered through, constant jolts of pain ran like electricity and blew every part of his mind he couldn't take it anymore

One stride left, he saw the gray foot land and knew the next one would be on them. He pulled himself; it felt like his legs were boulders; how could he survive this, he wondered.

"Get up!" Dio, the war mother yelled, the impact was coming,

He powered himself up, fighting and struggling to get on his feet, he finally got on his feet but still couldn't feel half of it. To his surprise, his legs began to mend at an increasing rate; he had broken through a new threshold.

He was panting heavily and couldn't believe he had done it; then, In a flash, he was buried in the shadows of the war machine's foot as it came crashing down on them.
