Chapter 4 - Paradox Dungeon (2)

Ryan stared deep into his father's icy blue eyes, he could tell that his father was only doing this because he detested him.

Ryan was about to protest, it was almost impossible to clear the Paradox Dungeon, but seconds before the words could escape his lips, a system screen popped up.

"I'll do it." Ryan said confidently, shocking everyone in the throne room, there was no one mad enough to clear the Paradox Dungeon, no one except Ryan.

"Like you had a choice?" The king asked with a condescending tone, he was shocked at first but had quickly recomposed himself.

"The Red knights shall escort you to the Paradox Dungeon, and you shall be accompanied by a group of 3 other individuals." The king said, imposing his final verdict, his tone stern and serious.

Catherine was about to make her way towards Ryan, if she couldn't talk him out of this, then she could at least aid him in clearing the Paradox Dungeon.

"Not you Catherine, the boy has grown too old for a nanny." The king said, and once again his lips curled into an evil smile as he stared at Catherine's horrified face, there was no way Ryan would survive now.

Two red knights appeared before Ryan, and before he could even comprehend what was happening, they grabbed onto him and the next second, they had vanished from the throne room.

Ryan looked all around him, the first thing that caught his eyes were the abundance of mystical portals that were completely surrounding him, despite the place's magical lustre, Ryan still felt incredibly uneasy, like all his instincts were telling him to leave.

"A Dungeon Zone." Ryan said, he had read about these in his books, and he was fully aware of what they were.

Dungeons were simply magical worlds that were inhabited by beasts, no one knew the science or magic behind them, but all they knew was it was the god's final punishment to humanity.

All Dungeons were ranked according to the dangers of the beasts residing inside, there were 5 tiers of Dungeons, White, Green, Yellow, Red and Black, with white being the weakest and black being the strongest.

Ryan's eyes scanned through the hundreds of dungeon entrances around him, taking in everything as much as he could, this was still one of his first memories of the outside world, and it was mesmerizing.

"This one here kid." One of the red armored knights said and while pointing at a white portal relatively close to them, and just like the king said, there were 3 other people at the portal entrance.

"And here comes the reason for our death." a burly middle aged man with thick black beard said, he held a club in his hands, and one look at him would reveal his anger.

'Well, that's news.' Ryan thought, shocked about the results of the system, not only was he surprised that a woman carrying the King's baby was being forced to clear a dungeon, he was more than sure that everyone of his teammates was sent here to die.

"Let's just get this over with?" Tina said tiredly, her hair was dishelved, and her eyes seemed to have lost all light in them, her once vibrant purple hair had now turned almost black.

"Always in a hurry, if only you had put that same energy into training your body." Von said, unlike the rest, he had a smile on his face, which complemented his long black hair and dark eyes.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that you petty thief." Tina said angrily, she knew she was on the plus size, but that didn't give Von the right to say whatever he wanted.

"Save your fighting for the dungeon guys." Rachel said, her sweet and soft voice drew the attention of everyone around her, and their attention was retained by her stunning beauty.

Rachel had beautiful light green eyes, complemented by light green hair, when added to her pale white skin, it was more than enough to make any man feel something stirring up in him, Ryan especially.

Ryan had never seen any other woman besides Catherine in a very long time, in the past he had been too weak to even think about experiencing a fun night, but now it was a different story.

"Please make your way into the dungeon." one of the red armored knights said, he had enough of their senseless bickering and just wanted everything to be over.

Everyone has gone silent, and began exchanging glances with each other, nobody was willing to throw their life away, but did they have a choice?

"I will not repeat myself." The red armored knight said, his voice cold and lacking all emotions.

Von was the first person to enter, followed by Jack, Tina, Rachel and lastly, Ryan, whose confidence was quickly beginning to waver, there was a reason why the Paradox Dungeon was so difficult.

Sure, it was a white dungeon, meaning the beasts in there were weak, but it still, it was impossible to clear the dungeon, due to one simple reason, the beasts in the Paradox Dungeon were infinite, and no matter how hard they fought, new beasts would arise until.they were dead.
