Chapter 21 - New mission

Emma remained quiet contemplating what she should do next. She hadn't known what other people would do for this and didn't really even care, kind of…

Why would people even want super strength and speed if you don't have legs? Unless everyone can shapeshift then they can easily get their legs back. Wait, could everyone shapeshift, Emma thought that since she could by becoming a spirit maybe anyone could. Emma had asked the odd clothed man about it.

"I could've sworn you weren't such an interrogator. Everyone's spirit abilities are different, well most of the time, it's a really rare occurrence where someone would have the same power as you." The odd clothed man explained.

"Alright, now that all of that has been figured out, let's get you some clothes now that can't run around in organs now can I." The odd clothed man jested.

He grabbed something from thin air again, this time it was a white silk robe that looked like it was Emma's size.

Meanwhile Emma had somewhat forgotten about clothes, since her old organs had actually covered her body somewhat well. It was like wearing a bra of broken lungs, and her intestines and her other old organs as a skirt. Emma didn't really like the sight and was glad that she was getting something else to wear.

She grabbed the robe from the man and headed deeper in the forest to change, but a thought had occurred to her. What if the trees had been spirits too? Alarmed from the thought Emma had immediately asked the man.

"Are there an-"

"No there's no spirits in here anymore, at least none that can hurt you," The odd clothed man answered, without giving Emma the chance to finish.

Relieved Emma had changed into clothes somewhere far into the spiral tree forest. Another thought occurred to her, how come the trees were like this, are they a bunch of humanoid otters to, Kushtaka family perhaps.

Emma didn't really want to find, and just as she came to a conclusion her head began pulling each other apart again figuratively this time. It had been excruciating for Emma, making her let out a muffled scream.

After a few seconds the pain had gone away. Emma had laid there for a bit with her organ clothes falling off. Noticing this Emma forgot about another pain she had felt in just the tenish minutes and immediately wore her robe that she was given.

Going back to the spot where she had left the odd clothed man. Emma had wanted to ask him another question but had felt a bit embarrassed to ask after how the odd clothed man acted before. Instead she had just kept the odd pain to herself.

"I knew that robe would look good on you, now it's time to start your first actual job," the odd-clothed man announced.

"First find someone who will be willing to be your patron, can't have you being a lone spirit that was originally a human you know. Oh yeah a patron is someone who signed a contract with you to get you in the spirit world and make you a spirit, the boring way.

You can find other spirits in a town. I'll leave you in a bit. Second become stronger, way stronger than what you are right now," the odd clothed man explained.

"What town? There was another way to become a spirit? How do I get a patron? And by that logic aren't you already my patron? Is it hard to get one?" Emma asked.

"You know which town it is soon, yes, by signing a contract I let the rest be explained by your future patron, technically yes but no, depends how good you are as a spirit. And you're already pretty good actually so it shouldn't be too much of a problem," the odd clothed man answered.

"Before I send you off, here's a few rules I want you to follow. 1.I don't exist so, don't tell anyone about who got you into the spirit world. and I can't help you complete your missions because of that. 2.I can grant wishes for you still, but you can only use them if you're in dire need of assistance in the missions I sent that are not related to brawls of any sorts. And 3. Make gaining strength your top priority if you ever want me to wish your friend back to life." the odd clothed man explained.

"So-" Emma tried to ask a question but the odd clothed man grabbed her hand and they teleported to a medieval towns square with brown dirt like brick road and dark brown kind of like the trees that had surrounded them earlier building near the square.
