Chapter 18 - Humanoid Otter

"To be more precise I want you to stand right their," The odd clothed man pointed in between some of the spiral trees near the pond. "Dont move in inch, got it"

"If you give me my wish I wont move a centimeter!" Emma said, surprised by the easy task before her.

All of the tasks she had gotten had been easy for her too although she had only received two so far, It had still made Emma prideful. Thinking that her getting her wish will be easy.

"Alright Emma you can go now. Good luck!" the odd clothed man shouted, then disappeared out of thin air.

Emma had thought to herself then she didn't need luck to stand around and do nothing, and headed towards the spot the odd clothed man told her to wait in. While waiting she had looked around the odd forest taking in its strange beauty, doing so one of the spiral trees near her moved a bit.

The spiral tree to her left had startled Emma a bit; she had almost moved out of the spot but she remembered her promise with the odd clothed man. Emma had faced herself towards the tree without getting out of the spot the odd man had told her to wait in.

The spiral tree had begun unraveling itself. It had done so slowly, making itself way larger than what it was before. This sight had baffled Emma; she had wondered what it was going to do next and didn't move a single millimeter from her spot.

The now unraveled tree had reached all the way towards the sky as if it was stretching from a long nap. Emma had silently started at it wanting to see more of what the unravel tree could do and she did.

What she saw next was even a bigger surprise than the tree unraveling, it had begun changing shape till its head had a blue demon mask on it and it grew a mouth. This had made Emma somewhat scared of what it was going to do next, so scared that she had almost moved backwards in an attempt to escape from it.

The only thing that kept Emma there at that point was the fact she had to prove herself to the odd clothed man to get her wish.

The tree had changed again this time it was the rest of its body with only its mask remaining unchanged. It no longer could be considered a tree anymore; it looked like a giant humanoid utter. The blue demon mask blended into its face revealing its rows of sharp fangs and two beady eyes.

Emma had been terrified of the thing before her, she had wanted to run out of fear that the thing might eat her alive. Of course there might be some hope for her, the thing might just want to say high to Emma and be on its way.

Just when Emma had thought this the former tree now large beast started drooling at Emma, as if it hadn't eaten in awhile. Emma was paralyzed by the thing, and angered at the odd clothed man.

She had thought to herself 'Did the odd clothed man really set me up like this, make me think that I could get my wish If I just stand still in the weird forest. Did he really have to do all of that to just kill me? What if he really isn't lying though… he did say a test of will. Maybe he might save me!... Or won't.'

'Its fine though, at least I did really try to redeem myself to Luna's family and friends. If he was lying and is trying to kill me I won't have anything to lose, only things to gain' Emma reassured herself.

The thing had gotten closer to Emma walking slowly with its beady eyes focused on her. Determined to pass her test of will Emma made sure not even to react to the humanoid otter.

Just then it had unhinged its jaw completely looking like an unsightly thing. It had circled around her for a bit changing its form constantly as it went by. The humanoid utter stopped circling around and had come close to her head.

Emma genuinely thought she was going to die then, which she had been fine with. When just the thing had begun choking and had retreated back from Emma.

Emma had turned around to see that the odd clothed man appeared, saving her life.

The odd clothed man had been floating in the air and was grabbing the humanoid utter by its neck like he was holding a kitten.

"I have good news for you Emma. You passed the test!" The odd clothed man said with a smile on his face while it was holding the seemingly terrified humanoid otter.
