A few years ago, humanity's comfortable belief in its place atop the natural order was shattered. Scientists revealed the startling truth: humans were not alone. Witches, demons, ghosts, werewolves, and vampires walked among them, hidden for centuries in plain sight. The discovery sent shockwaves through society, and governments worldwide responded with urgency. Thus, the Agency for the Suppression of Non-Human Creatures (ASNC) was born—a specialized task force trained to protect humanity from supernatural threats.
Every year, teenagers were presented with a choice. They could live normal lives, free from the chaos, or join ASNC and dedicate their existence to fighting the creatures lurking in the shadows. Many stepped forward, some out of duty, others for adventure. This year, two recruits stood out among the new trainees: Agent Water, also known as Isha, and Agent Fire, known as Madhav.
Isha was calm, sweet, and exceptionally intelligent. A black belt in martial arts, her precision and discipline made her a formidable agent. Madhav, on the other hand, was her opposite. Hot-headed and aggressive, he wielded incredible strength and unmatched skills in hacking. Despite their differences, they were both elite recruits.
When the Chief paired them as a team, sparks flew. Madhav demanded a strong, fearless partner, while Isha simply wanted someone reliable who wouldn't complicate her missions. Despite their protests, the Chief made the decision final.
"You two are the perfect balance of brains and brawn," he declared with a smirk. "Besides, you'll learn more from each other than you realize."
Reluctantly, the two agents accepted their partnership, though neither was thrilled about it.
Their first mission came sooner than expected. A piercing alarm echoed through the ASNC headquarters. Emergency lights bathed the facility in red as agents scrambled into action. The Chief's voice boomed through the speakers.
"A witch is attacking downtown. Civilian casualties reported. Agents Water and Fire, you're up!"
Isha and Madhav exchanged a quick glance. There was no time for arguments.
They suited up in their combat gear—sleek black uniforms embedded with protective runes—and armed themselves. Isha grabbed her trusted gun, loaded with silver-tipped bullets. Madhav unsheathed his enchanted sword, its blade glinting with fiery orange runes.
"Let's get this over with," Madhav muttered as they rushed to their transport.
The city was in chaos when they arrived. Cars lay overturned, buildings smoldered, and panicked civilians fled in every direction. At the center of the destruction stood the witch. Her pale skin glowed unnaturally, and her crimson robes billowed as if caught in a phantom wind. Around her, massive stone golems rumbled to life, each towering over the agents.
Isha raised her gun and fired, but the witch moved with inhuman speed, evading the bullets. She raised her hands, and the golems charged.
Madhav darted around the witch, aiming for a surprise attack, but one of the golems caught him mid-air. With a grunt, he was hurled across the street, landing hard beside Isha.
"This isn't working," Isha said, helping him up. "We need to work together."
Madhav winced, clutching his ribs. "I don't need your help."
"You clearly do." Isha's voice was firm but calm. "If we don't coordinate, we're dead. Focus on the golems. I'll handle the witch."
After a tense moment, Madhav nodded. "Fine. But don't get in my way."
The battle shifted as the agents executed their plan. Madhav charged the golems, his sword blazing as he slashed through their rocky limbs. He moved with brutal efficiency, his strikes fueled by sheer determination. Meanwhile, Isha darted through the chaos, her sharp eyes locked on the witch.
The witch raised her hands, summoning a storm of fireballs that rained down on Isha. Dodging swiftly, Isha took aim and fired. One shot grazed the witch's shoulder, disrupting her spell.
"Now!" Isha shouted.
Madhav destroyed the last golem and sprinted toward the witch. She turned to cast another spell, but Isha was faster. With precision, she fired a silver bullet straight through the witch's chest.
The witch staggered, her glowing eyes dimming. Blood dripped from her lips as she collapsed to her knees. But before she succumbed to death, she uttered a chilling warning:
"You think you're the hunters… but the real enemy is within your ranks. Trust no one at ASNC."
Her words hung in the air like a curse.
The witch's body disintegrated into ash, leaving the agents standing in eerie silence. Isha and Madhav exchanged a troubled look.
"What did she mean?" Isha asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Madhav clenched his fists. "She's just trying to mess with us. Let's report to the Chief."
But doubt lingered in both their minds as they returned to headquarters. The witch's final words were more than a dying taunt—they were a warning of something darker looming within the ASNC itself.
And so, their partnership began, not just as a battle against supernatural creatures, but as a fight to uncover the truth hidden in the shadows of their own agency.
