In the dimly lit alleys of New York City, a man moved cautiously, his every step echoing against the brick walls. He stopped abruptly at a shadowy corner and whispered, "So, it's you. I've been looking for you all over New York, and now I've found you."
He held out a small package, his hands trembling. "Here, take what you said you'd bring me. Will you do it?"
Suddenly, panic overtook him. He turned and ran, nearly colliding with a young woman walking in the opposite direction. "You! You're Agent Water—save me from her!"
Agent Water, or Isha, narrowed her eyes. "Who are we dealing with?"
The man led her back to the spot, but it was empty. He looked around, desperate to find his pursuer. Isha's expression darkened. She stepped closer, her voice calm.
"Is this where you saw her?"
"Yes, she was right here—"
Before he could finish, Isha pulled out a blade and stabbed him from behind. His eyes widened in shock as he stumbled back.
"Why?" he gasped.
Isha smiled coldly. "This was my plan all along."
The next morning, Agents Fire and Water returned to the scene. The body had been discovered by passersby, and the area was cordoned off. Fire knelt by the body, examining the wounds.
"Whose work do you think this is?" he asked, glancing at Isha.
She studied the scene carefully. "It seems like the work of a wolf."
Fire shook his head. "No. Look at these sword marks. A wolf didn't do this."
Without warning, Isha took off running. Fire blinked in surprise, then bolted after her.
After sprinting through the streets, she finally stopped, leaning against a lamppost to catch her breath. Fire reached her moments later, panting.
"Why did you run like that?" he demanded.
Isha hesitated. "I thought… I thought I saw someone following us."
Fire frowned but let it go. "Alright, leave that. Let's head back to headquarters, file the report, and grab some lunch. We haven't eaten since we got here."
Later that evening, Fire leaned against the wall of his hotel room, pondering aloud. "I don't understand why we've been given separate hotels."
"It's to help us investigate the killer," Isha replied over the phone.
"How does that help?"
"There are only two hotels in the area that allow entry with swords," she explained.
Satisfied for the moment, Fire hung up. Isha, meanwhile, locked her hotel room door and washed her face in the bathroom. The cold water was refreshing, but she couldn't shake the eerie feeling that she wasn't alone.
She turned suddenly, and her heart skipped a beat. Standing in the shadows of her room was someone who looked exactly like her.
"What the—?" Isha began, but the imposter lunged at her.
The two clashed fiercely, their movements a blur as they fought. Isha ducked and rolled, narrowly avoiding a knife slash.
"I don't know who you are," Isha said, her voice steady despite the adrenaline. "But you've made a mistake coming here tonight."
"Oh, really?" the fake Isha sneered. "We'll see who made the mistake, Agent Water."
They fought relentlessly, but Isha's superior training gave her the upper hand. With a swift move, she knocked the imposter unconscious. She grabbed her phone to call Fire, but before she could dial, something heavy struck her from behind, and everything went black.
When Isha regained consciousness, she was disoriented. She found herself in an airport lounge, surrounded by police officers.
"What's going on?" she muttered, her head throbbing.
The officers didn't answer. Moments later, Fire appeared, his expression grim. "Isha, you've been accused of murder."
"What?" Isha's voice rose in disbelief. "I didn't do anything! It was the imposter—"
Her protests fell on deaf ears as she was escorted to the police station. The investigation dragged on for hours. Isha recounted every detail about the fake Water in her hotel room, but no one believed her.
Except Fire.
"Isha wouldn't do this," he said firmly. "Something's off."
He began his own investigation, scouring the area for clues. After hours of searching, he found a crucial piece of evidence: CCTV footage from the hotel.
Fire burst into the police station, holding a laptop. "I have proof!" he announced.
The footage showed Isha entering her room, followed by the imposter minutes later. The fight was captured, but the imposter's face was shrouded in shadows.
The police released Isha, but the mystery was far from solved.
"We need to find that imposter," Isha said as they walked out.
Fire nodded. "And we will. But first, let's report to the Chief and regroup."
The next evening, Fire and Isha—unaware she was now with her fake—were assigned to protect businessman Enzo at a gala.
Fire noticed a strange glint in "Isha's" eyes during the event, but he dismissed it as the stress of recent events.
When she asked him to dance, he reluctantly agreed. For a moment, he was entranced by the warmth in her gaze. But something felt… off.
