"What is this? " Abby's eyes were filled with doubt as she saw that the information displayed on this virtual panel were: personal information, skill learning, items, and points.
"This panel information looks a lot like the game interface." Abby murmured as she fingered the personal information section curiously, and soon some text appeared on the panel.
[Name: Abby - Boleyn]
[Identity: The Awakened]
[Skill set: Wood]
[Profession: Healer]
[Level: 1/9]
[Life: 100/100]
[Stamina: 70/100]
"What? Am I an awakened one? "Abby felt incredulous,"Why is that?"
At that moment it was as if the system had heard Abby's words. That mechanical cold voice sounded again, "You have bound the system and become The Awakened. Now please complete the first mission issued by the system."
"What mission?" Abby asked.
Then a line of text appeared on the system panel: Please learn the basic theory of healers and pass the test.
"Exam? " Abby immediately frowned, she hated exams the most when she was in school, every time she took an exam her grades were the worst in the class.
"You'll be in study hall in three seconds."
"What is the Study Room?" Before Abby could react, the system was already counting down.
"3, 2, 1."
When that voice counted to one, Abby felt only as if an earthquake had struck beneath her feet, and in a few seconds she was in an unfamiliar place.
The place looked like a vast library, with rows and rows of bookshelves, each filled with thick volumes, before Abby's eyes. At that moment a white-covered book seemed to be drawn from the bottom shelf by an invisible hand, and then it floated directly in front of Abby.
At that moment, Abby's ears heard the system's voice, " Please read this book within thirty minutes."
"What?" Abby stared at the white-covered book before her. It was about as thick as the length of Abby's little thumb. So she immediately shook her head, " I couldn't have finished reading the book in such a short time."
As Abby finished her sentence, however, the book unexpectedly opened of its own accord. The words on every page of the book were being rapidly input into Abby's mind. Abby's eyes widened as her mind filled with the knowledge of that book.
Soon, the system's voice rang out. "Congratulations you have finished reading, now for the exam."
"The exam is so fast?" Just as Abby finished speaking, a table and chair appeared in front of her, with a test paper and a pen on the table.
"Please take your seats and the exam is ready to begin. The exam will last for one hour. It is worth 100 points out of 100."
So Abby took her seat, picked up her pen, and began to answer questions. The knowledge she had just learned flitted through Abby's mind as she bent her head and wrote with her pen the answers to each question on the test paper.
"OK, I'm done. " The moment Abby put down her pen, the test paper was surprisingly scored automatically.
"Your grade for this exam is 90, failing. Take the exam again. " The system said.
"What? It was the highest score I've ever received. " Abby said disgruntled," How many points do I have to get to pass?"
"A score of 100 on the test is considered a pass, now start the test over."
"What happens if you keep failing the test? " Abby asked.
"You can only leave the Study Room if you pass the test, otherwise you will continue to study."
"Jeez, this is so hard. " Abby complained.
Then a new test paper appeared on the table. The question on this paper was quite different from the one on the earlier paper, and Abby gulped nervously. She concentrated, and once more all that knowledge raced through her mind.
It was not until the third Test that Abby reached 100. This time, she ended up not having to take another test.
"Congratulations on completing the first task of the system, rewarded with 50 points."
"What are the points for?" Abby asked.
"Points can be exchanged for corresponding items, you can click on the item bar to check."
So Abby opened the panel, and she clicked on the item bar. It is only possible to see the various items displayed inside, each of which is labelled with a corresponding dot behind it. Abby saw that 50 points would buy a bottle of nutritional liquid.
"Do you want to use the points?" The system asked.
Abby thought for a moment, then shook her head, "No." She planned to accumulate more points before redeeming. After all, nutritional solutions were not a necessity for her now.
"The exam is over, do you want to continue studying or leave the Study Room?" The system asked.
"I want to leave the Study Room." Abby said without hesitation, "Now."
Abby's brain is going to explode and she needs a break.
"You will leave the Study Room in 3 seconds. 3, 2, 1."
Abby's feet lost their gravity in an instant, and her body was falling rapidly. In less than a few seconds, Abby realized she was in a hospital bed.
"I'm back." Abby was incredulous. She glanced absently out of the window, where the night had now fallen.
"I can't believe I was in the Study Room for so long." Abby could not help feeling emotional.
Through her studies, Abby now knows relevant information about the Awakened. As it turns out, the skills of the Awakened are categorized into seven types, which are earth, wood, water, lightning, wind, light, and metal. Most Awakened have mastered only one of these skills, and only advanced Awakened have mastered two or more. Only advanced Awakened can master two or more skills, and Awakened can deal with mutant monsters by mastering the aforementioned skills. The Wooden Awakened have weak attack power, and their skills are usually used to heal the wounded. When the Awakened go out hunting mutant monsters, they bring a healer with them.
The thought of becoming a healer and going out with the rest of the Awakened to battle the mutant monsters gives Abby a headache. She was not, after all, mentally prepared to face a mutant monster.
At that moment a nurse pushed open the door of the ward and entered. When the nurse saw Abby, she showed a surprised expression." Where have you been? Why didn't I see you when I came to patrol the ward just now?"
"I just went for a walk in the garden. " Abby lied. If she had told the nurse where she had just been, that nurse would have thought Abby had gone mad.
"The doctor told me to tell you that you can be discharged tomorrow. " The nurse said.
"I can be discharged tomorrow, is that true? " Abby asked excitedly.
"Yes, the doctor said that you have recovered. " The nurse smiled, "Also, we will send your hospital bill to the cleaning company and they will cover everything during your stay."
"Great." Abby was overjoyed at the prospect of going home to-morrow.
When the nurse had gone, Abby was about to lie down and rest. At that point, the system panel automatically opened. Could it be that the system had another new task for her?
