Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Two-Line Alien Energy Awakened Man

When the bus arrived at the terminal, the other passengers got off one by one, leaving Abby alone in her seat. It was only when the driver approached and reminded Abby that it was time to get off the bus that she came to her senses.

Abby had just stepped off the bus when the sky unexpectedly began to rain. After the end of the world, the weather is always unpredictable. Sometimes it's hot in the morning, then temperatures plummet in the middle of the day. Sometimes there is a continuous drought, sometimes a sudden rainstorm.

Abby had long been accustomed to this changeable weather. The post-apocalyptic rain is highly acidic, so if you get caught in it, you could easily become sick. As Abby had not brought an umbrella, she had to cover her head with her jacket.

Abby jogged down a muddy alleyway to the door of a low, old-fashioned house. Abby found a spare key under a flower pot outside the house and used it to open the door.

Abby went into the house, and the drawing-room was empty. At this point in time, Abby's brother would still be in class and her mom would most likely be sleeping in her room.

" Mom." Abby yells upstairs," I'm home."

After a few seconds, Abby did not get any response from her mother. So she rushed upstairs to her mother's room.

"Mom." Abby gently pushed open her mom's room, which was very dimly lit. Abby saw that her mom was lying on her bed with only a thin blanket covering her.

Abby went to the window, and she drew back the curtains to let in the light. That's when Abby heard her mom let out a whimper.

"Mom." Abby came over to the bed and she whispered to her mom, "I'm home."

Abby's mom opened her eyes and when she got a good look at Abby's face, she slowly got up." Abby, is that you?"

"Yes, it's me." Abby held her mom's hand, "How are you feeling today?"

"I still feel tired." Abby's mom covered her forehead with her hand, her sunken eyes full of exhaustion.

"Did you take your medication today?" Abby asks.

Abby's mother looked down in thought, her flowery white hair falling over her cheeks. "I don't seem to remember taking my medicine." She said.

"The doctor said you have to take your meds on time." Abby said she got up and opened the nightstand drawer, where she found her mom's medication.

"Take the pill."Abby handed the last pill to her mother.

After Abby's mom swallows the pill, she asks, "Do you know where your brother is?"

Abby really didn't want to face this question, but she couldn't lie to her mom, so she had to answer truthfully, "No."

"Where did he go?" Abby's mom had sadness in her eyes, "Why hasn't he come back?"

"Mike's been missing for so long, the manager of the hunters union said he might..."

"NO." Abby's mom said emotionally, "Don't believe those assholes, there's no way something happened to Mike. I know he's alive."

"Mom, calm down." Abby calmed her mother.

"Abby, promise me. You have to find your brother."

"Ok, I promise." Abby said softly, "Now you need to get some rest. I'll wake you up when I make lunch, Ok?"

Abby's mom nodded as she lay down on the bed and then closed her eyes. Abby watched her mother's haggard appearance, as if she were suffering from an illness. She choked back her inward grief, and then quietly withdrew from the room.

Abby came into the drawing-room and sat down dejectedly on the old gray sofa. Mike's disappearance has caused her mother's condition to worsen, and now that her mother's medication has run out, Abby has to figure out how to deal with it.

Abby looked at the pictures of their family spread out on the table. It shows her brother standing next to Abby in a white shirt, a ray of sunlight on his handsome face. They were so happy at that moment.

"Mike, where are you?" Abby mumbled. At that moment, Abby's cell phone rang. It was one of her co-workers, Jenny, calling.

Jenny tells Abby that since she was attacked by a mutant beast at work, she is entitled to compensation under her contract. The financial specialist at the cleaning company had just wired that payment to Abby's bank account.

Abby hung up the phone and immediately used her cell phone to check her bank account information, and she literally saw that she had an extra amount of money in her bank account balance. With this money, Abby will not only be able to buy medicine for her mom, but it will be enough to make ends meet for a while.

"I almost forgot about my points." Abby realized, "I have 100 points this time, so maybe I can redeem them for something better."

So Abby opened the system panel and she checked what items she could exchange for 100 points." Drug Synthesizer? " Abby stared at a green bottle displayed on the item bar, she didn't understand what this drug synthesizer was.

Abby tapped the green bottle curiously with her hand, and in the next second a line appeared on the panel: Drug Synthesizers can be used to synthesize a variety of drugs.

"Does this mean I can use it to make medicines? But how shall I use it?" Abby was confused.

Although Abby knew that making medicines was also one of the Healer's abilities, she hadn't fully grasped the knowledge about it." Perhaps there will be books in the learning space related to how to make medicine. " Abby finished clicking on the skill learning section and as she was about to enter the learning space, she heard the sound of the door opening.

"Abby, you're back? " Jimmy's voice came from the doorway, so Abby hurriedly closed the system panel.

"Yeah. The doctors said I was well enough to be discharged." Abby explained.

"Great." Jimmy tossed his book bag aside and he hugged Abby joyfully.

Abby rubbed Jimmy's head, " Are you hungry?"

"There's some bread left in the fridge for lunch." Jimmy said.

"You need nutrition." Abby said, "Let's go to the supermarket and buy some beef. I'll make you beef stew with potatoes."

"Beef?" Jimmy gave an incredulous look, "Even synthetic meat isn't cheap, let alone fresh beef. We don't have a lot of money."

"Don't worry." Abby smiled at Jimmy, "The cleaning company gave me compensation and we can use that money to buy meat."

 "Really?"

"Yes." Abby said, "Let's go shopping in the supermarket."

Jimmy cheered as he grabbed his umbrella and walked out of the house with Abby as they headed in the direction of the supermarket.

Abby and Jimmy arrive at the area's only large supermarket, which is having a sale on limited-time items today. To save time, Abby says to Jimmy, "You go to the meat section and get some beef and pork, and I'll get milk and vegetables. We need to pay the bill before the sale ends."

Jimmy nods as he pushes a shopping cart and immediately strides briskly in the direction of the meat department.

Abby then went to the area dedicated to milk, where she stared at the various kinds of milk on the shelves, so she picked one that was affordable and natural. At that moment, the supermarket's wall-mounted LCD screens were broadcasting news of the morning's attack on the city centre by mutant eagles.

The sound of a newscast catches Abby's attention, and she sees that the news reporter on the screen is telling the story of a mutant eagle attack on the city, and that the reporter is also reporting the identity of the Awakened, the man who killed the mutant eagle. It turned out that the awakened man was an Army lieutenant, a strong man who had mastered both powers.

"He has two kinds of super-powered awakened, which is why he was able to kill the mutant Eagle so easily." Abby muttered to herself. The moment she turned her head, a handsome man came into view.

Abby looked into the man's eyes, which were as bright as emeralds, and she froze, and the milk in her hand fell instantly to the ground.
