It was he, the man who had saved her.
The man wore a dark blue shirt that just outlined his broad shoulders and tight waist, and the sleeves were casually rolled up to reveal the firm muscles of his arms. His silver hair glowed softly in the supermarket lights.
Gosh, he's so handsome, Abby thought.
At that moment, the man glanced at the carton of milk that had fallen to the floor. He took a step forward and then stooped to pick it up.
"Here's your milk." The man gave a faint smile as he handed the carton of milk to Abby.
"Uh..." Abby took a moment to come back to her senses as she took the carton of milk, her tone slurring," thank....Thank you."
"You're welcome." said the man, and was about to turn and go.
"Wait, sir." Abby hurriedly called out to the man.
"Yes?" The man turned around and he looked at Abby.
"Uh..." Abby gulped, " Thank you for saving me. Maybe you don't remember me, I was in the wilderness area that day——"
"You're the cleaner who got bit by a mutated spider in the wilderness that day?" interrupted the man to Abby.
"Yes." Abby nods her head.
The man surveys Abby with his eyes, "You've recovered?"
" Yes, I just got out of the hospital today." Abby replies.
"Congratulations."
"You saved me again in the morning downtown." Abby lifted her eyes cautiously, and her heart beat suddenly faster as she locked them with the man's.
"I want...."
"What do you want? " The man's eyes flashed with curiosity.
"I want to say thank you." Abby whispered.
"You already said thank you to me before." The man's tone was gentle, "In addition, every soldier has a duty to protect citizens."
At that moment, a woman with long blonde hair and a red dress walked up to the man pushing a shopping cart filled with food. She asked the man curiously, "William, what are you doing here?"
"Nothing." The man replied.
"I've gotten the necessary food for the week, now let's go to the checkout." The woman said.
William nodded and then said to Abby, "Goodbye."
Abby looked at their departing backs and whispered, "Bye."
Abby's eyes twinkled with a hint of disappointment, and the heart, which had been beating so fast, slowly regained its composure.
"What do you want? It was clear that he already had a girlfriend. " Abby said to herself mentally.
Abby stopped rambling as she pushed her shopping cart in the direction of the vegetable section. When Abby finishes her shopping, she returns home with Jimmy.
.........
After lunch, Abby went to her room. She meant to take a nap first, but when she closed her eyes the handsome face of the man kept coming back to her.
"Oh, Abby. You must not think of him any more." Abby said to herself, "that man would never look at an ordinary girl like you."
Abby remembered the woman who had been with William at the supermarket. Not only was she pretty, but she was dressed in expensive clothes. Abby thought she was an ugly duckling compared to the woman.
"Oh, God. I've got to do something about this." Abby sat up. To take her mind off herself, Abby opened the system panel and stepped into the study space.
Abby came to that library, she looked at the books that filled the shelves, "With all these books, How can I find books about pharmaceuticals?"
Just after Abby finished her words, the rows of bookshelves suddenly started to move, Abby stood still, in less than a few seconds, the rows of bookshelves moved in front of her, and then a book with a green cover was automatically pulled out from the bottom layer of the bookshelf, and the book floated slowly in front of Abby.
Abby saw the cover of the book read, Basic Methods of Making Medicines. "Could it be that this library understands what I'm saying?" Just as Abby finishes speaking, the system panel automatically opens and displays a line that reads: Do you want to learn the basics of making medicine?
So Abby chose 'yes' without hesitation. In the next second the book with the green cover opened of its own accord. Like the last time, the entire knowledge of that book was quickly fed into Abby's brain. When the study was over, a new message appeared on the system panel: The entrance exam would now begin.
"What? Is there going to be an exam this time?" Abby showed a pained expression, "Okay, I'll take the test."
The requirements are the same for each test, and you have to reach a score of 100 by the end. But this time Abby scored a hundred in the first over of the Test and she was happy with that.
Through her studies, Abby learns that the types of medicine a healer makes are divided according to the healer's rank. Low-level healers can only make a few common medicines. If Abby wants to make medicine to heal her mom, she needs to reach level 5 to do so. The higher the level, the more difficult it is for a healer to make more medicines. Healers who reach level 9 can even make Water of Life, a potion that restores life to the dead.
"When will I reach level 9?"Abby's current level is only 2, which is still far from level 9.
"I'm going to study hard, I'm going to become the highest level healer." Abby encouraged herself.
Abby then proceeded to learn the basics about herbs. It was eight o'clock in the evening when she returned to her room at the close of her studies.
"God, I forgot to make dinner." Abby didn't realize that she had stayed in her study space for that long, so she rushed downstairs to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
When Abby gets to the kitchen, she sees a sandwich sitting on the table and a note on the refrigerator. The note was from Jimmy, who told Abby that he had made dinner, that he was going over to his classmate's house to study and stay tonight, and that he wanted to remind Abby not to forget to buy her mother's medicine.
Abby remembered that she had forgotten to buy her mother's medicine. Luckily, the pharmacy was open 24 hours a day, so she finished her sandwich and went to the pharmacy to pick up her medicine.
Abby was walking with her parasol. There were few pedestrians on the streets at night, and when it rained, most people stayed home. The rain grew heavier, and Abby did not linger after buying the medicine. She followed the road back to her house.
Abby had scarcely stepped into the familiar alley when a figure suddenly appeared behind her. The man blocked Abby with his tall body in a dark corner, one hand on the handle of Abby's umbrella, the other hand gently resting on the center of Abby's lips to indicate that she should not speak.
Abby looked up in alarm, and in the darkness she saw those green, watchful eyes.
How did he do it?
