Just then, Evelyn felt a cold hand wrap around her arm. The sensation sent a shiver down her spine, and she spun around to face the out-of-breath nurse, who had finally caught up to her. The nurse placed one hand on her hip, holding her with the other while breathing heavily.
"Miss, you can't be here. We'll have to—"
Before the nurse could finish, Evelyn's panic overtook her entirely. "No!" she shrieked, yanking her arm free. She quickly turned and darted past Andrei.
He instinctively reached out to grab her, but her arm slipped through his fingers like water.
The nurse wobbled backward, bracing herself against the wall while she tried to steady her gasping breaths. "I can't run anymore. I don't get paid enough for this."
Andrei let out a scoff, sliding his phone into his pocket. "Really?" Shaking his head, he turned to follow Evelyn.
