Chapter 2 - 2

Mark's consciousness briefly recovered in the freezing cold sea water. In his blurred vision, the red light of the emergency light turned into a strange green, shaking with the waves, like a ghost fire from hell. He felt a burning pain in his lungs and instinctively struggled to float to the surface. However, his legs were stuck by something, and the heavy feeling of restraint made him unable to move. Panic surrounded him like cold sea water, and he twisted his body desperately, trying to break free.

Surrounded by the sea water, Mark's senses became extremely sharp. He could hear his heartbeat thumping in his ears, and every heartbeat seemed to remind him that his life was slipping away bit by bit. The coldness of the sea water made his muscles stiff, but his will to survive burned like a flame. His fingers groped in the sea water and finally touched the survival knife at his waist. He pulled out the knife without hesitation, and the sharp blade drew a silver light in the water, cutting the rope wrapped around his legs. It turned out to be the safety rope on the wreckage of the plane.

Freed from the restraints, Mark struggled to swim upwards. The cold seawater poured into his mouth and nose, but he didn't care about that. The desire to survive made him burst out with amazing strength. Finally, his head rushed out of the water, and he greedily breathed in the cold air, as if it was the most precious treasure in the world.

However, when he looked around, despair surged in his heart again. He was in a vast sea of ice, and the wreckage of the crashed plane and the footprints on the way here were all gone. He seemed to be abandoned by the world, floating alone in this cold wasteland.

Exhausted, Mark climbed onto a floating ice floe. The extreme cold made him shiver, and his teeth chattered uncontrollably, making a "crackling" sound. He realized that he had to find a shelter as soon as possible, otherwise he would soon be frozen to death in this icy sea.

With trembling hands, he took off his gloves, and laboriously took out a small metal thermos from the emergency kit, unscrewed the lid, and inside was the hot coffee that his wife had prepared for him before leaving, which was only left with residual heat. He sipped it, and the bitterness was mixed with a hint of warmth, which restored some of his strength.

Looking around, Mark found a black mountain in the distance, which was particularly abrupt in the gray sky. There was a black cave at the foot of the mountain, which might be a temporary shelter.

"We must try it!" Mark gritted his teeth, and a glimmer of hope ignited in his heart. He jumped into the cold sea water and swam hard towards the mountain. The cold sea water stung his skin like a needle, but he didn't dare to stop, because he knew that if he stopped, he would never be able to swim again.

After swimming for a long time, Mark finally reached the foot of the mountain. He climbed ashore with his hands and feet, and staggered to the ice cave. The entrance of the cave was not big, just enough for one person to pass through. He took a deep breath and got into the ice cave.

The ice cave was dark and quiet, with only the sound of wind pouring in from the entrance, making a whimpering sound. Mark fumbled to light the lighter, and the faint flame illuminated the scene in the cave.

This is a naturally formed ice cave, the wall of the cave is as smooth as a mirror, reflecting the light of the lighter. Deep in the ice cave, Mark accidentally discovered a well-preserved prehistoric skeleton. The skeleton is huge and strange, similar to the shape of the huge footprints he saw on the snow before.

"What...what kind of creature is this?" Mark was filled with shock and curiosity. With trembling hands, he approached the skeleton to observe. The skeleton's bone structure is different from any creature he knows. There are two sharp horns on the huge skull, and the ribs are as thick as steel.

Just as Mark was concentrating on observing the skeleton, suddenly, a low roar came from the cave entrance. This roar was different from any animal he had ever heard. It carried an ancient and barbaric breath, as if it came from an ancient behemoth.

Mark turned his head sharply, and the lighter almost fell from his hand. The fire illuminated the cave entrance, and a huge black shadow was slowly walking in...

Mark held his breath and clenched the survival knife in his hand. The light of the lighter flickered, making the black shadow at the cave entrance even more hideous and terrifying. The shadow gradually approached, and Mark finally saw its appearance clearly. It had a huge body similar to that of a bear, but it was covered with thick scales. Its head looked like some kind of reptile, and its two eyes flashing with fierce light stared at Mark. A stench hit him in the face, and Mark's stomach was churning, but he resisted making any sound. He slowly backed away, his eyes never leaving the monster in front of him.

The monster let out a low roar, shaking the ice cave buzzing. It slowly took a step forward, and its huge claws left deep scratches on the ground. The low cave forced it to lower its head, and it made a wheezing sound from its mouth, and white mist sprayed from its nostrils.

Mark watched the monster's movements nervously and swallowed unconsciously. He found that the monster's left front leg seemed to be a little lame, and it walked with a limp. This made him feel a little relieved. Maybe this was an opportunity.

The monster roared again, and this time, the roar was obviously a warning. Mark's heart was beating wildly, but he remained calm. He moved slowly, trying to find an exit to escape.

"Roar!" The monster suddenly became furious and rushed towards Mark.

Mark subconsciously dodged to the side and barely avoided the monster's attack. The monster's huge body hit the ice wall, making a dull sound. Ice fragments splashed, and some small ice chips fell on Mark's face, causing a stinging pain.

The ice cave was not spacious, which restricted the monster's movements. Mark took advantage of the monster's lack of stability and quickly ran to the cave entrance.

"Roar!" The monster roared again and turned to chase Mark.

Mark ran to the cave entrance, but found that the cave entrance was blocked by a huge piece of ice and could not pass. He looked back and saw that the monster was approaching.

In desperation, Mark saw a narrow gap above the cave entrance. He jumped without hesitation, grabbed the edge of the gap, and climbed up with difficulty.

The monster also rushed to the cave entrance, and it stretched out its claws, trying to grab Mark's ankle. The sharp claws scratched Mark's trouser legs, leaving a bloody mark.

Mark gritted his teeth and climbed faster. He used all his strength and finally climbed up the gap.

He lay on the cold ice, gasping for breath. The roar of the monster echoed in the cave, but it could no longer reach him. Mark felt tired, but he knew that he couldn't stay here for too long, and the monster could find other exits at any time.

He stood up and looked around. On the other side of the iceberg was an unknown area. The blizzard had stopped, and the clouds in the sky began to disperse, revealing a little starlight. Mark knew that he had to keep moving forward and look for hope of survival.

He walked carefully along the edge of the iceberg, stepping on the solid ice with every step to avoid danger again. On the other side of the iceberg was an ice valley, and there seemed to be a faint light at the bottom of the valley. Mark's heart moved, maybe there were people there, maybe there was a shelter.

He began to walk down the slope of the ice valley. The ice on the slope was slippery, so he had to use a survival knife to dig small steps on the ice to prevent slipping. Every step was extremely difficult, but his heart was full of hope.

Finally, Mark came to the bottom of the valley. The ice here was relatively flat, and the light came from an ice-carved lighthouse. Although the light from the lighthouse was weak, it was particularly bright in this dark ice valley.

Mark approached the lighthouse and found a small door at the bottom of the lighthouse. He pushed the door open and found a small control room inside. There was a bed, some food, and a radio device in the control room.

"Finally, there is help!" Mark was ecstatic. He rushed to the radio device and tried to send a distress signal.

However, when he turned on the device, the display on the device suddenly lit up, and a line of words appeared on it: "Welcome to the frozen hell, you have nowhere to escape."

Mark's face turned pale in an instant, and unprecedented fear surged in his heart.
