Chapter 15 - Into the Wild

It had been a year since I was reborn into this world. A whole year, and in that time, I had become accustomed to my new life. Today, like every other day, I spent time with my sister, Serena. Her laughter filled the air, and her presence was a constant comfort.

I had grown, not just in size but in strength as well. The world around me felt both familiar and new, like I was waking from a dream I couldn't quite remember. Today, something different happened—a new quest arrived from Nyx.

"How can I reach level 5?" I muttered to myself, feeling the familiar pull of the quest system.

"You can level up by killing or completing quests," Nyx's voice echoed in my mind, smooth as ever.

"Who should I kill?" I asked, eager for the guidance.

"Why don't you start with small birds or animals?" she suggested. "You can go hunting with your sister."

I nodded, feeling excitement stir in my chest. "You're right."

I turned and looked for Serena. She was nearby, as always, her presence like a warm light in my life. I hurried over to her, calling her name with my usual cheer.

"Serena! Can we go hunting?" I asked, my voice filled with innocent excitement.

She glanced up, her brows furrowing slightly. "Why do you want to go hunting?"

"I want to start hunting and become strong, just like you," I said, my voice soft but earnest. I wanted to make her proud.

A light blush colored her cheeks, and she smiled. "Alright, let's go hunting."

Serena and I sought permission from our mother, Lian Mo. She hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"Yes, but take Kyra with you," Lian Mo said, her expression firm yet gentle.

"Yes, Mom!" Serena and I responded together, giggling as we left.

This was my first time leaving the safety of home, venturing into the nearby forest. The air felt different here, sharper somehow, and I could feel my heart beating a little faster. We left with a few family guards accompanying us, and Serena leading the way.

As we entered the forest, I couldn't contain my awe. The trees stood tall and proud, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. The sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. It was beautiful, more than I had imagined, and for the first time, I felt like I truly belonged here.

I spotted something ahead—movement. "Look, Serena! A deer!" I whispered, pointing excitedly.

Serena's eyes narrowed as she surveyed the scene. "Let's hunt it."

With practiced ease, Serena drew her bow and notched an arrow. She aimed carefully, her posture relaxed yet focused. In one fluid motion, she pulled back the string and released. The arrow flew through the air, a perfect shot. It struck the deer, and the animal collapsed immediately.

I stared in awe. "Wow, Serena, you're amazing!"

She smiled, a modest blush coloring her face. "It's nothing. You just need to practice. It'll take a lot of time to use a bow like this."

I couldn't help but feel a surge of admiration for her. She was so skilled, so graceful. I wanted to be like her, strong and capable.

Serena looked at me with a playful grin. "Why don't you try it?"

I hesitated for a moment but then nodded eagerly. "Sure!"
