Chereads / The Rebirth of the Death Apostle / Chapter 18 - The Awakening of Power

Chapter 18 - The Awakening of Power

I woke up feeling incredibly refreshed, as if I had just recovered from a tough battle. It was that satisfying, deep kind of rest that only came after a long day of exertion. But as I opened my eyes, I realized something—it was already morning, and I was back in my room. I didn't remember when I had come back, but I assumed Kyra must have brought me here after I fell asleep under the tree.

Before I could process much more, Nyx's voice appeared in my mind.

"Good morning, Jin Mo."

I stretched and rubbed my eyes. "Good morning, Nyx," I said, feeling a warm sense of comfort knowing she was there.

Nyx's voice came again, sounding pleased. "Why don't you check your status? You've grown a lot since yesterday."

"Really?" I asked, intrigued.

I opened my system window.

I stared at the screen, stunned. "Woah! What are these stats?" I exclaimed, my eyes scanning the details.

Nyx responded with a satisfied tone. "You've grown a lot since coming to this world. Though it's a small margin for now, I know you'll continue to grow stronger in the future."

"These are great stats," I muttered, feeling a surge of confidence. The growth was evident, and I couldn't wait to see where this would take me.

Before I could dive deeper into my thoughts, I heard a knock at the door.

"Young master, it's me, Kyra."

"Yes, come in," I called out.

Kyra entered, her usual composed demeanor intact. "Young master Jin Mo, your mother is calling for you."

I nodded. "Yes, I'll get ready and join her shortly."

After getting dressed, Kyra escorted me to my mother's room. As we entered, my mom greeted me with a warm smile.

"Good morning, Jin Mo," she said, her tone filled with love.

"Good morning, Mother!" I replied, bowing slightly.

Mom's eyes sparkled with pride. "How was your day yesterday?"

"It was great," I said, a proud smile crossing my face. "I killed two deer and three rabbits."

Mom's eyes widened. "Wow! My son is a genius. You are great!" She opened her arms, inviting me for a hug.

I embraced her, feeling the warmth of her love. "Thank you, Mom, for letting me go. I enjoyed it a lot."

"You're welcome, Jin Mo," she said, her voice full of affection.

She pulled back, a serious glint in her eye. "Now that you're growing up, let's start your sword practice. I will hire a master for you."

"Thank you, Mom!" I said, my heart racing. Finally, I would begin formal training.

As I left her room, I overheard a conversation from the maids.

"Did you know? Young master Jin Mo killed two deer and three rabbits on his first hunt?"

"Yes, he's a monster. Everyone's in awe of his talent."

"Some are scared of him," one of the maids whispered.

I couldn't help but smirk as I walked through the halls, knowing that my reputation was beginning to spread.

Just as I passed a corridor, I ran into Ronan Mo, my younger sibling. He was looking at me with a smug expression.

"I heard you killed two deer and three rabbits on your first hunt," he said, a stone-like attitude in his tone, clearly trying to provoke me. "Why don't we spar? Let's see who's really better—me or you?"

I narrowed my eyes, my blood heating with challenge. "Why don't we spar? Let's see who's truly better."

Before anything could escalate, Serena stepped in, placing herself between us.

"Stop it, Ronan. He's still a child," Serena said firmly, her voice sharp.

Ronan took a step back, sneering. "Don't be a coward, Jin Mo. You can challenge me anytime."

Serena turned to me. "Don't listen to him, Jin Mo. He's always like that."

"I don't care about him," I replied coldly, trying to ignore the irritation building inside me. I wasn't about to fall into his petty games, especially not when I had more important things to focus on.

I made my way back to my room, determined to stay low-key for now. As I entered, I felt a familiar pull inside me—the desire to practice.

Sitting down, I focused on the Dragon's Breath Technique, the one I had been eager to perfect. As I began, I felt my body hum with power. My Qi flowed more smoothly, and a strange sensation began to rise in my dantian.

Suddenly, a small golden dragon appeared before me, its ethereal form flickering with energy. It swirled around me before diving into my body. I felt a rush of warmth and a deep connection to something primal.

A screen popped up in front of me.

Ding!

Dragon's Breath Technique reached Level 1.

The screen displayed the following:

Dragon's Breath Technique (7 stars) [Level 1/5]

Description: The first stage of the Dragon's Breath Technique. At this level, it begins to harness the energy of the dragon, awakening the latent power. The connection to the primal forces is nascent, but with practice, it will grow stronger.

I stared at the screen, amazed. "What is this?" I asked, feeling both confused and excited.

"This is the first level of the Dragon's Breath Technique," Nyx explained. "There are four more levels. As you complete them, the technique will grow stronger and may evolve."

I smiled, feeling the power coursing through my veins. This was just the beginning, but I already felt a shift inside me.

I was tired from all the practice, and the exhaustion of the past few days finally caught up to me. I lay back on my bed, closing my eyes, and soon drifted into a peaceful sleep, my mind buzzing with the potential of what was to come.
