Elena was still eating when the telephone rang, she picked it up almost immediately. "Let them in" she instructed. After a few minutes, Jonal and Devin walked in. "What happened to you"? Jonal asked surprised. "I got shot" she replied. " Shot? how come? Where's Penny? how did you even get here"? Jonal asked at once. "one question at a time Jonal" Elena said managing a smile "First Penny is in the restroom, she's safe, secondly she asked me to come over to your place. she said she was lonely and i gladly took the next flight straight to London... Later that night i heard someone trying to break in so i took Penny to the Panic Room and got shot in the process of protecting our dear Penny and...." She paused realising she almost mentioned Penny's pregnancy. " All that happened in a day? I was barely gone for a day" Jonal said feeling guilty. " I got shot the very first day i visited London ".She said. "I'm sorry about that " Jonal apologized. "Who's he"? Elena asked. " oh, sorry. Meet Devin my brother, Devin, Elena, Penny's friend " Jonal introduced.
"Hi" Devin greeted. " Nice to meet you Devin. Jonal never told me he had a brother, I heard about your mother's death so sorry " Elena said. "it's fine " Jonal responded instead. Just then Penny walked out of the restroom not surprised to see them. " Hi Devin "Penny called ignoring Jonal. "How're you feeling "? Devin asked. "I'm fine. Did you catch the culprit "? she asked. "Not yet, we're close" Devin replied. "Seriously? you're ignoring me"? Jonal asked puzzled at her free conversation with Devin like he didn't exist". "Elena finish up your food, aren't you hungry "? Penny asked still ignoring him. "You can't be serious Penny, come off it" Elena spoke. "What I'm just being concerned" Penny replied innocently. " I'll be right outside guys" Devin said noticing the awkwardness in the air. "um. Devin, please could you help me outside?I'm sick of sitting here" Elena requested, He looked unsure. " please" She pleaded. "erm... ok" He said and helped her stand up and they left together.
"I'm sorry i left" Jonal spoke first. "I almost died"! she thundered. "And I'm truly sorry i should have known better " Jonal replied. "Really? was that what you would have said if i was the one on that bed and not Elena? You risked my life Jonal! not just mine but the life of..... of our child" She said suddenly breaking down in tears. "Our child? You're pregnant "? he asked puzzled and she nodded. "I didn't want to tell you 'cause it didn't feel like the right time....I'm three weeks pregnant "
He kept mute and didn't say anything, for a moment she feared he might not want the pregnancy. she tried to read his expression but she couldn't and she felt another tears run down her cheek, she turned away from him looking at the windows then she felt his arm on her shoulder and the other arm on her waist as he pulled her closer to himself. He kept mute but still maintained their position and she was eager, 'was he going to tell her to abort it? of course she wouldn't do it and he knew quite well' she thought. "Penny..... He called slowly, she felt how his breathing grew rapidly but decided to be mute. "I won't reject our baby or ask you to abort, if that's what you're thinking" He said making her a bit relieved. "I love you and i think we should keep the baby" He said and she turned to face him. "Really "? she asked and she nodded. "But you'll have to be far from me my love, i don't want anyone coming after you or my baby. I'll discuss with Devin and we'll see what can be done ". " You're willing to go that far for me? for us"? "As long as you and the baby will be safe okay"? He said smiling and she smiled back, he wiped the tears off her face gently placing a kiss on her lips.
"What did they look like"? Devin asked taking a seat beside Elena. "Amateurs, definitely not properly trained" She replied. "Not properly trained and yet they shot you". "They were armed, I would have taken them down if i had a weapon as theirs" she said. "Wait, you know how to use guns"? Devin asked. "Was trained since i was little " She replied. "Are you a CIA or something "? He asked doubtly "Arghh, not really that" she replied. "So what are you an FBI or detective "? "I'm a...." He paused realising he didn't know her just yet. "Go on" she persuaded. "Penny must have told you something " He said instead. " uh, no she doesn't mention you not even Jonal, I didn't even know you existed". She replied. "How long have you known Penny "? He asked. "Quite a long time, we met in high-school and even went to the same college....She was quite the hot cake back then, guys would drool at the sight of her. she was sassy quite stubborn but popular " She explained. " What about you "? He asked. "Me? Well.. I was the brainy in my class, no students has ever won against me, they try but they fail.I was unbeatable and that's my life ". She explained. "No guys around you"? He asked. "Yea, that's because i basically beat them up, not my fault though but they just like taunting me and i end up breaking one of their arms". "Were you like a kung-fu fighter "? he asked. "Not really, I learnt martial art. I needed to defend myself after i lost my family " She explained. "So you can beat me up"? Devin asked jokingly. "what! I didn't say that, but maybe we could go for a challenge someday " she replied. "I don't deal with ladies, too soft, they'll bleed to death " Devin replied. "Well you just don't know what this lady is capable of, you might be shocked " she defended. "I won't look forward to that if i were you.by the way How's your arm"? he asked. "It will be fine in a few days, it wasn't deep " She said. "Thanks for being there for Penny, my brother would have gone nuts if anything had happened to her" He said. "No problem, she's my best friend I'm sure she would have done the same for me too" Elena replied. "Let's go inside, I'm sure they would have been done by now" Elena requested standing up and Devin did the same. "Yea right ".
"They must have found out we fooled them by now" one of the members said. "I know Devin, he'll be on our tail already. You said there were two women in the house"? Seisera asked. "Yes boss, one of them knows how to use a gun, she must be Devin's mistress" Another member said. Seisera scoffed "Mistress? I've known Devin for years and he doesn't deal with women, the only woman he's crazy about is his mom. Jonal?certainly, he likes women " Seisera said. "Does that means he owns one of them "?. " Certainly " Seisera answered. "What should we do boss"? they asked. "For now, nothing. You do nothing until i say so".
