Chapter 2 - Chapter Two A Wild Proposal

Mitchell stood outside a huge modern building, a high scraper of its kind. Her heart began to race in anticipation of what they would offer her.

She had received a call earlier that morning from Tyler Donald's assistant, inviting her for a private meeting with Tyler at the company. Mitchell hasn't recovered from the shock of the call. Taking a look at her present status, she didn't seem fit for a meeting as huge as that.

Mitchell was skeptical about the invitation, if it was real or not but nonetheless she accepted the invite. The curiosity about Tyler's intentions was eating her up faster than she could ever imagine.

As she stepped into the tall building, Mitchell was greeted by the security men and also a friendly receptionist who attended to her.

"Good afternoon Ms…." The receptionist greeted her.

"Mitchell Ben"

They both exchanged beautiful gestures to one another before the receptionist further proceeded in asking what service she needed.

"I am here for a private meeting with Mr. Tyler."

"Ms. Mitchell?" The assistant to Mr. Tyler echoed as she approached the reception.

"Yes, I am."

"Kindly follow me." She said to Mitchell as she signaled the receptionist to leave Mitchell to her.

She directed Mitchell to the elevator as they entered and rode up to the top floor, where Tyler's office was located.

His assistant knocked on the door, and a very deep voice called out, "Come in."

Mitchell lost composure for a minute hearing the voice of Tyler behind the door. She took a deep breath and stepped into the office. Tyler was standing behind his desk, a tight smile on his face.

"Mitchell, thank you for coming. I appreciate." he said, walking to the edge of the desk to greet her.

Mitchell gave a bright smile back at him, feeling a little more at ease. "Thank you for inviting me, Tyler."

She found his gesture welcoming and that made her quite comfortable, even though Tyler was just a stranger.

Tyler gestured to her to have a chair in front of his desk. "Please, have a seat. Would you care for a drink?"

Mitchell shook her head lightly. "No, thank you. I'm fine actually."

Tyler gave a faint smile to her refusal and sat down behind his desk. "So, Mitchell, I'm sure you're wondering why I invited you here and you're probably thinking of what you have done to deserve it."

Kyla leaned forward almost immediately, her curiosity was already at its peak. "Yes, I am. Obviously, who won't?"

Tyler smiled again, his eyes glinting with so much excitement. "Alright then. I'll get straight to the point. I'm looking for a wife, Mitchell. And I think you might be the perfect candidate."

Mitchell's eyes widened in shock as her jaw dropped open.

"What!"

She had been expecting a business proposal, not a marriage proposal. Not even with a total stranger.

"I...I don't know what to say," she stuttered.

Tyler leaned forward, his eyes locked into hers. "I know this is a lot for you to chew, Mitchell. But I'm willing to offer you a very substantial amount of money to marry me. $100,000 upfront, and that's not all. I would also be giving you another $500,000 after the birth of our first child."

Mitchell felt like she had been punched in the gut. She hadn't heard about such an amount of money before, not to talk more about handling it. This was a lot of money, and it could solve all of her financial problems. But at what cost?

"I...I need some time to think about it, Thank You!" she said finally.

Tyler nodded his head, expressing that he actually understands her. "Of course, Mitchell. You can take all the time you need. But I have to warn you, I'm not a patient man. I need an answer from you within the next week too."

"What if I don't give an answer within the week?" Mitchell asked as she raised her eyebrow.

"Well, I would give the offer to someone else. The choice is yours."

Mitchell stood there with a sense of discomfort as she watched Tyler keep a straight eye with her. She knew that she had a difficult decision ahead of her but little did she know she was the only option Tyler got.

As she stood up to take her leave, Tyler walked around the desk, got a bit closer and handed a folder to her. "This is the proposal, Mitchell. Read through it, the terms and conditions that apply and do let me know if you have any questions."

Mitchell stood there in shock of all that was happening, it still seemed like a dream to her. She took the folder, feeling a sense of weight sit upon her shoulders. She knew that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't even imagine but the ball was now in her court.

As she walked out of the office building with her head faced to the ground, she didn't want to notice anyone. Mitchell felt like she was walking into a whole new world that she couldn't seem to control. A world where marriage is now a business arrangement, and love was just a distant memory.

She entered a cab and headed to her small apartment. Mitchell got off the cab and rushed into the house. She began pacing back and forth in disbelief of all that had happened earlier. She taped herself multiple times, assuring herself it wasn't a dream.

Mitchell felt the need to talk to someone, so placed a call to her best friend, Catherine.

"I have something to tell you!" she said with her heart racing so fast.
