Chapter 5 - Chapter FiveTension in the Air

"Call them and tell them that you can't handle the case."

"Who are you and why should I do that?" Mr. Jenkins asked.

"Well, I am Tyler Donald. I think that best answers all your questions."

"I am so sorry sir. What would you have me do?" Mr. Jenkins stuttered.

"I would pay you $50,000 if you do this for me. Tell Mitchell and her dad you can't handle the case. I am aware they were at your office yesterday." Tyler's voice narrowed as he spoke on the call.

"I totally understand sire. It's a deal and I would do as you have said immediately." Mr Jenkins replied in excitement.

"Good, I would email you the necessary details for your role then you can send in your details for the payment."

Tyler hung up the call and burst into laughter.

"Mitchell, how smart! But sadly you don't have money and I do." He laughed even more as he muttered the words.

Informations got to Tyler that Mitchell and her dad were being spotted at the law benchmark, a secretariat meant for just lawyers. He did proper findings which led him to Mr Jenkins desk. Tyler thought that was obviously the best move to make to get Mitchell running into his arms.

"Tik-Tok-Tik-Tok." Tyler began to mutter the words as he stared at the window waiting to see Mitchell coming right to his office.

Mitchell sat down on the couch, patiently waiting for a call from Mr. Jenkins as he had said. It was less than a week to her dad's trial and this was her only chance of saving her dad. Finally a call came in from Mr. Jenkins. Mitchell immediately picked up the call in desperation for what he had to say.

"Morning Ms. Mitchell."

"Oh yes, Morning. Morning to you." Mitchell stuttered.

"I am really sorry, I can't help you on your father's case. It's beyond my power." Mr. Jenkins said softly.

"But..But..I thought you said…"

Mitchell was dumbfounded, she couldn't control her lips as well as her emotions. She was really confused about what to say. Mitchell never expected him to reach out to her with a negative answer. She could feel her heart sink deep down her stomach.

"I am really sorry, maybe I could be of help some other time." Mr. Jenkins said as he hung up the call.

Mitchell sat still for over 5 minutes in shock, she couldn't believe her ears. "What would I do?"

Her dad met her in that state and couldn't understand what had happened to her.

"Are you alright? Who was on the phone?" Her dad asked in concern.

Mitchell immediately rushed out of the house, stopped a cab and went to her apartment. She gushed into her room in search of the file Tyler gave to her. She took the file and stood in front of her mirror "I am freaking putting an end to this."

She stared at herself in the mirror with the file in her hand as she began to cry. She was in so much pain that she couldn't explain it to anyone. Mitchell just needed to make a move and she couldn't stay back anymore reminiscing about a solution that wasn't forthcoming. She took a light cloth and wiped her tears, putting up a fake smile as she headed for Tyler's multi-billion dollars company.

"Do you have an appointment today with Mr Tyler?" The receptionist asked as Mitchell approached her.

"Yes I do, tell him I am here." Mitchell replied as she kept a straight face.

"Let her in." Mitchell heard Tyler's voice echo on the phone call as the receptionist further gestured her towards the elevator.

"Thank you."

Mitchell took the elevator to the last floor where Tyler's office was. As she stood in the elevator waiting for it to take her to her destination a thought of what she was about to do flashed through her mind and more so how that she hadn't settled down to go through the file Tyler gave to her concerning the contract. But that wasn't the time to do so because she just had to decide regardless, her family was at stake here.

She finally got to the last floor, walked to his office door and knocked.

"You may come in." Tyler answered with his deep voice.

"Do have your seat."

"I didn't expect to see you today, nice having you." Tyler lied.

"I don't think I need to sit right now. I am ready to be your wife based on the terms of this contract." Mitchell said as she gave Tyler a straight face.

Tyler expected her to come and obviously to accept the contract marriage but not in this manner. He hasn't seen her this hot before and he loves it, she has always been the weak looking lady everyone knows.

"Oh, beautiful. Glad you have thought things through."

"When do you want us to have the wedding?" Tyler asked.

"Tomorrow," Mitchell answered, still keeping a straight face.

Tyler at this point was really amazed, but he was loving it even more.

"Alright, whatever you say."

"See you tomorrow, and send in the venue for our wedding. I leave that for you to decide." Mitchell said as she immediately took her turn and walked out of the office.

"Damn! That's hot." Tyler said out of excitement, he couldn't believe his eyes.

Walking out of Tyler's office, Mitchell picked up her phone and called Catherine, her best friend.

"Hello girl, go pick up a dress. You have a wedding to attend tomorrow." Mitchell immediately said as Catherine picked the call.

"What! Did you just say wedding? Who's wedding?" Catherine was in shock.

"Mine"

"Woa, are you serious right now? Or are you out of your mind?"

"I don't crack jokes, do I?" Mitchell replied, keeping the same tone all through.

"I need to see you, Mitchell. We obviously need to talk.

"Meet me at my apartment in 30 minutes."

"Bye!"
